  1. quick question. is it even possible to take the handbrake handle/cover off? not the boot trim or anything, just the cover on the handle? ive searched the site n out heaps of ppl ask this question but with no answers. mine is just worn out n looks crappy so i wanna replace it with a chrome and black leather handle i got off a friend. anyone know how to take the stock one off?????
  2. i had the same prob on my r33, it was the fanbelt that was a lil loose. just tighten it a bit and it should be right.
  3. hi all i had a prob with my car running on 5 cylinders (rb20e) yesterday. today i pulleed the ignition leads and it seems to just have been dirt on the connectors or bad connection. i got the cylinders firing but then another cylinder dropped. again i tried the leads and all was well. i took the car for a drive but i noticed that my oil pressure was extremly low. at about 3000rpm the gauge read about 3kg/cm2(squared). when i put the clutch in, it dropped right down to just above 0. i shut the engine off immediatly, checked the oil level and it was nearly full, taking into account the oil hadnt settled. again i drove off. later on i noticed when i started the car, the oil pressure remained at 0 and the oil warning light was on. after about 3 seconds it turned off and the oil pressure rose. this happens every time the car is started, even when its warm, the oil pressure seems normal after this, but after maybe 3 mins of driving it drops. the oil is due for a change (getting changed tomorrow) and im gonna get the car checked over in a few days. has anyone had this happen to them before? im pretty scared to even start the car now lol
  4. thanks heaps. i just went through checking the leads and sure enough the 3rd cylinder wasnt firing. leads and plugs all looked good tho so ill check over the injectors and the spark plugs. if i cant find the prob ill let the mechanics take care of it on wednesday wen it gets serviced. thanks
  5. ye i can understand that but its for the future kinda thing, im just unsure on whether it would be best to sell mine and buy a gtst or what to do and what to put money on, im talking like in a years time, ive got close to enough now but yeah
  6. is there an easy way to check if all the cylinders are firing? latly (on my rb20e) the cars been idling lower than usual, 600rpm, somtimes as low as 500, and the low idle it causing the car to shake a little more. also the car seems sluggish. this only started happening yesterday. when i popped the hood, i herd a strange ticking sound coming from the cylinders, it sounded like (if anyone has gas stove tops) the igniter to light the gas stoves. its just a constant, quick, ticking sound, i think possibly from the spark plugs. its consistent with the revs, i gave it a lil throttle and the speed of the ticking increased. I suspect that one of the cylinders isnt firing for what ever reasons but im unsure. my car is due for a service wednesday so im thinking of just leaving it for the mechanic (i would do it myself but the headlights re-aimed and the car tuned up, its running rich). any ideas or thoughts?
  7. hey guys, u dun gotta say it, i aint the brainiest when it comes to cars but i know my basics atleast, which is a start. i bought myself a lil r33 gts, with an rb20e engine. at the time i didnt think much of it, and yes, i did know about it so dun start flamming me for it. i love my skylines, spesh r33's, and i didnt have enough for a gtst. anyway, i want to upgrade the engine in the near future. what would you guys recommend? Ive herd a fair bit bout RB hybrids, rb25/30det or rb26/30det. would anyone recommend this? or would an rb26dett or just an rb25det for now be a better option? Which would be easier to fit into the r33 engine bay? any ideas? Im not sure with what to go for, i just know i will need a new trans, new diff, and id want new gtr or gtst hubs with the bigger brakes.
  8. im looking into redoing my exhaust, i currently have a 2.5" catback apexi exhaust with a apexi resonator thats 6" wide with a 4.5" tip. its illegaly loud and ear splitting when the revs are up so im thinking of redoing the whole exhaust. not sure how a 2.5" catback is so loud but i havent herd many other cars that sound quite as good, but it hurts when the windows are down. ive herd alot about magic cats. does anyone have one that can acctually say from experience that they are a step above the other highflow cats around? i just hear from friends that theyr good value, around $300 so ive been told, and that they add a good 30kw of power.
  9. dun ask lol. i didnt do heaps of research before hand as info was hard to come by and i didnt know a lot about them. i didnt think they were heaps diff but ends up they are a bit. im not fussed on it tho, the car was at a good price and in good nick. there are a few things u gotta be aware off, firstly if your considering modding it, things like wheels are a pain to find cos theyre 4 star not 5 like turbos. ive had a hard time finding good 18" rims for my car, most of them cost $2000+ cos theyr more rare, and also restrictions on parts, things like the diff cant take alot of added power. im no guinius with skylines but owning one teaches u heaps. just make sure u look around heaps. make sure u check out carsales.com.au i found mine there, and also www.jsa.net.au (these cars are all recent imports). hunt around for a good deal but be aware of skylines with under 100,000km on the metre as alot will have been turned back so they catch higher prices, and make sure you get the car checked by someone who knows what theyr doing. even tho these are N/a engines, alot have still been thrashed and treated bad. but i would recomend it for a P plater. its rlly good fun, and lets face it, wack an exhaust on it and its gonna fetch you alot of attention, its great ill even take it down to the track for sum fun, see wat i can run down the 1/4 mile, not serious with it obviouslt but its always fun

I just got my Ps in June and i really wanted a skyline and i was kinda worried about all the cop attention i would get if i got a turbo, also i was short on cash and i couldnt even fork out the extra 2000+ for a gtst. So i bought myself a r33 GTS, it does have the weaker RB20DE engine in it but it still runs good. I do get a bit of cop attention and sometimes theyr asses, one of them was even looking under the front bumper, probs for an intercooler lol. Even tho i sometimes wish i bought myself a gtst, spesh wen i get idiots driving their tricked out rides tryin to drag me, i still have great fun drivin my skyline. It might not be the fastest thing around but its still got some grunt and it is a handfull in the wet, not to mention the apexi exhaust is rlly loud. so id say go for a non turbo, insurance still sucks, $3000 per year with $1800 excesses, but i still love mine and its good fun and when you have little experience driving, it might even save ya life wen you feel like being reckless on the road lol.
