S A U N S W - Wakefield Trackday Number 2 For 2011
a20089 replied to N1GTR's topic in Events Archive
so sad.. it's one of the few cars that can keep the two fast rotors at bay. Hoping tk80 is coming out again. -
Never can, until more ACT members turn up to local things, can't really ask Sydney people to come closer.
-
Or bring another car?
-
Sounds great. How will the day work in terms of lining up for the next drag etc. Will we be parked off waiting to be called? or sitting in a big row?
-
I'll aim to be there and pay on the day assuming there are spots left. Will be up at the drag day http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/364933-s-a-u-n-s-w-private-wsid-drag-racing-day/page__p__5822470#entry5822470 the day before.

+1

Thanks, keen to get before the track day, but unlikely now.
-
Any update?
-
Appreciate if you could verify the spreadsheet I attached in this thread, based solely on natsoft figures.
-
Might be an issue with natsoft, I see you there but you don't exist under the any of the sessions.
-
I think I see an error in street class as well. Session 2 (round 1) car 39 Peter Carruthers, was not credited with a time, where as he actually has the fastest time of the first session. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?05/03/2011.WAKE.S2 This assumes round 1&2 = round 1, 3&4 = Round 2 etc.
-
Yea I think it's an issue of translation. What AASA or CAMs may see as a training day doesn't meet the criteria outside of racing insurance. Big thumbs up to all members who made the day work.

I know I said I would not comment again to an exec but, in response to what came across as a rebuke instead of possibly a friendly clarification. All comments are based all on SAU Exec members posts (more than one member and posts), as you have pointed out they may be a bit uninformed, but I can only base comments on what is communicated. I'd love to come to an exec meeting but traveling 3-4 hours on a Sunday night is not an option, and should not be necessary to get the correct information. I can clearly say communication was poor in regard to this event, I live in outback NSW (the ACT) so the forum is the ONLY communication I have to SAU. I had to go to RENEW to get information about the first days requirements. None of us forum based members knew anything about the "rules" until a non exec member posted about it, days after the event was advertised. I have not said anything about not running within insurance guidelines for the day. You have taken that out of context. My concern on this point, is exec members complaining about the rules of the day and claiming the day is a "training day". The description does not match the reality and does not count as a training day for individual car insurance FACT. Also my point being that about needing to run under CAMS rules was in response to said exec members complaint that these rules were not necessary. As you have pointed out said members may have been misinformed. It is a mountain out of a mole hill, considering a fire extinguisher and metal valve caps are the only real difference between a CAMS rules and a normal track day. Classes were determined before the event (just) and if people don't like the classes or the entire comp then they don't need to concern themselves with it and just concentrate on having fun. BUT we need clear concise and correct information, something round 2 seems to have a lot more of. I have never knocked the event, just the COMMUNICATION and the na sayers. I'm supporting the event arrangers instead of complaining about the rules of the day.

Brake Grade Upgrade For My R33 Gts-T

Duncan, What do you think of the AP racing kits 4.5-5.5K? -
I'n not getting anything done for the day, but I'd like to.

Oh.. I don't read suggestion well

I can't quite tell if you are taking the piss or what. Go to your local NRMA and ask if your insurance covers your car for a "training day", OK no worries, AAMI even run them. Now tell them what the day consists of and watch them laugh at you. You remember Eric right, you go explain to his insurance company that this day, and any day is a training day. It might have elements of tips for newcomers, be newcomer friendly. But to say this is a proper training day is stretching the truth. I don't care what you signed on your CAMS insurance, the wider community sees this as a private track day. Training days involve registered training organisations, lesson plans, and generally a ratio between qualified instructors and students. Everyone of the exec members should know the requirements under timed events under CAMS insurance, you are a CAMS affiliated club. You want timed events, then you run by the strict CAMS rules or lose your CAMS insurance and/or affiliation. It baffles me that NSW club exec's still have public issues with this event. Some exec members claim not to have been consulted, well that's an internal issue you should be speaking within your exec group about, not an excuse for publicly expressing what is wrong with what has already been agreed to. I'm not going to debate this with exec members further, I suggest you talk amongst yourselves, sort out your position as an executive and stick to it. There's something about having an opinion but following the agreed party line.

What does this mean? Where the picture?

Great idea then, 1 day a year a little comp with other clubs. Go for it, I'll fully support. But I would have to say technically and legally this is NOT a driver training day. When you meet the requirements under every insurance company defination as driver training you can call it that. Even without timing it would never meet those requirements. This is not superlap either. It was billed as a friendly day going around the track, and apart from the "experianced race driver" incident, it was. It was very successful, it catered for everyone from inexperianced to those who would do super lap. I can't see what your problem is with the days, it was a great day, and the Exec of SAU sould be congratulated on making the day so successful. Link to times for the person who wanted it. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?05/03/2011.WAKE

You are so going down, after; New tyres, new brakes, new suspension and 2.8 litre kit
-
Don't worry mlr, another git here who mostly disagrees with you for the following reasons 1. This is a first attempt that I have seen from SAU to have any form of friendly comp between car clubs, a big thumbs up for doing SOMETHING. 2. RENEW are apparently a lot more organised (based on the communication for this event only). So they set the majority of the rules, ok as they put the effort in, in the first place. 3. CAMS classes are crap and unfairly discriminate against GTR's. GTR owners would all be in SV class because of the 4wd system. SV class allows unlimited modifications. So unless you have a very high priced modified vehicle, you can never be even semi competitive. It also places GTR and all the 2wd Rotars in totally separate classed. 4. The class system developed by RENEW is based on some basic logic with tire choice being a major factor. (tyres make a huge difference on the track). While I would argue that I am racing a stock GTR with a little boost against some highly modified GTR's in the same class is unfair, I looked at how they would enforce any other rules. Different injectors, fuel pumps, AFM, MAP sensors, are just not that easy to spot. So tyres and interior removal are easy to enforce. And since I'm within 0.5 of a second of the other bigger output GTR's I can't really fault the rules. 5. In regard to having multiple rounds per day, even the V8's have had this type of arrangement. It is very common in CAMS reg races. It is designed to ensure high power cars don't do a couple of runs, shit on everybody else and take away the prize. It supports the little guy who wants to try all day, in hir/her car that run that little bit less boost to keep the car consistently running. 6. This is not a driver training day, it is a open track day, with the option of driver training and the option of some minor competition. If you want a driver training day, go book some profession training, I've done it. If you want full competition go join a specialist car racing club. This is something that caters for the inexperienced though to the people who think they might be ready for some competition, in a safe and friendly environment. Great idea about having other clubs, but I doubt SAU could muster enough entrants to get 9 track days (3 each RENEW, WRX, HSV) a year. Cheers

Luckily I've never had an issue driving home, even with blown turbo's, worn out brakes etc. Worst case, hire a car and car trailer for a few hours. Mark attached my extinguisher, quickly with bolts to the car before I could say no. I'm thinking of attaching another, so undecided exactly where and how I will mount it. *******Nothing attached Zebra**********

Nice looking car, welcome to SAU. Please come to some of the events we have on. Whether it be show and shine, drags, drift, skidpan or my favourite track days.

Does Anyone Know A Good Auto Electrician?
a20089 replied to Shell's topic in Australian Capital Territory
I live in Kambah and own a Skyline. I always need a mechanic -
I don't seem to get the same figures as the official standings. Can someone have a look at the caculations for street class and see if they agreee or can find where I differ from the "rules" race points.xls
