  1. All motorcycles are tested at a higher RPM was 5000rpm or where maxium torque is made last time I checked. All motorcycles must be manufactured to meet strick laws including the euopean DB of 89. Guess what Australia is a prinprick in sales and they don't make them lowder just for us. Last time in the ACT we were pushing for 95db across all bikes, but I think it's set to 93db or 96db for those over 20 years old (not sure on exacts here). Australian's often put aftermarket mufflers on the bikes to obtain a crisper note.
  2. Yep I've read that. APS impresses me as they've done all the emission testing to make sure it passes. Having driven a 260-280rwkw typhoon I was very impressed, no turbo lag at all. For general street work they kill the GTR for everyday driving.
  3. I'd agree, but maybe if you put "official Federal tyres rep" it might assist the car. Can't do anything about your looks though :-) Maybe next time your'll get a break and get a gay cop j/k
  4. I would more believe a 400kw typhoon. Some injectors and a fuel pump and I'm around 400hp.
  5. As most of you know we've got a small amount of money put away for a banner for when we go to car shows, events etc. To be open an accountable (guess where I work) I am holding the sum of $190 with Michelle holding a couple of extra dollars. We probably need one more fundraiser event to get enough money to order the banner. Any suggestions on the future fundraiser event/s would be appreciated. Now the most important part is the design of the banner. I WANT YOUR IDEAS.... As some of you have probably have seen one of the NSW banners we used at Marques. It was an exact copy of the SAU banner you see on the top of the screen. In my humble opinion IMHO it looks pretty as a picture but was not wide enough to be eye-catching or informative enough. What do you think should be on the banner? Some basic idea’s I had are outlines below, please feel free to disagree and suggest alternative. Basic banner size 2 meters by 1 meter (Assumed) Bottom of banner has the website address “www.skylinesaustralia.com” as we are a primarily forum based group. Big “SAU” across the middle of the banner with smaller wording underneath “Skylines Australia” so people understand exactly who we are. Background pictures? Should we have them? What of? Parliament house? ACT outline? Pictures of R32, R33, R34? What about older skylines? What about newer skylines and the GTR?
  6. These Supra boys don't have the image quality that Mark produces, but... they have a great artistic tallent. I think the group photo could be done by us easily (if we could get the cars together one day).
  7. See this link for his pic http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Su....html&st=20 Next year if NSW is interested, the ACT guys received free entry on Sunday for displaying their cars. We may be able to extend the offer.
  8. Being fairly new to modified cars I have to ask. How does increasing low down torque pose a major risk when your pofftenth 130nm at 2000rpm gets turned into 200nm at 2000rpm, when the car can easily handle 440nm at 5000rm. A bloody corolla can handle that 200nm of torque at 2000rpm.
  9. Well what a turn out and a great day. A big thank you to everyone who attended and "risked" their cars. Despite the fears of "Drunk V8 Bogans" damaging cars it turned out to be another car show with a few extra freebies and a lot more stalls. What a stinker of a day it was, but you know the day will be good when all the V8's get nearly stripped searched before entering NATS and the Skylines just get waived through :-). I believe that is partly due to our social reputation in Canberra helped by turning up in large numbers to cars shows and not being dicks on the road. Of course having someone like Ladybytes as PR (loudmouth?) always helps. There were quite a few skylines in attendance at the NATS, here's a few: And a lonely R34 one in Dickson: Things must be changing when a senior judge turns up in a 3000GT Other Cool machines: The Boys and Girl from FAT PIZZA were about: But this is what Summernats are known for, Girls and Burnouts. I look forward to next year, I hope to see you there.
  10. But with 3 litres you get the same torque with less boost at higher RPM, but better low down torque when off boost. A great principle. In reality I'm yet to personally see a working 26/30 with no problems.
  11. Not sure how relevant, but here's a document the explains a bit on modifications in the ACT and where to get more info. ACT_Modifications_engineers.pdf
  12. This would be nice as a sticky for each state. Thye national standard on modifications (not the easiest to read) http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/saf...n/vsb_ncop.aspx I think I like current Canberra rules better.
  13. For the six cars entering remember the following. I plan on being there about 8.30. Sunday, all vehicles will meet at Dickson College (corner of Antill St and Phillip Ave Watson) between 8:00 and 9:15 am, Once there, Officials will: Ensure the vehicle is on the attendance list. Check to see if Vehicle is registered or on valid permit (no unregistered vehicles will be allowed to enter Summernats 20) Place wristbands on all entrants (max 2 adults and number of children who legally fit inside the vehicle) Place window sticker on Vehicle
  14. That's got to suck....
  15. Most of us already have a Skyline :-)
  16. Plunkett (fellow from work)
  17. No idea but he seemed more into major work. Give him a call afer the 14th and ask. Wahts wrong with Trogen, similar side of Canberra?
  18. Thanks for making me feel like a dick.. I stand corrected.
  19. Just spoke to Joe at Skyline performance. They mostly just do engines these days for the GTR. Currently working from home (not in Charnwood anymore) and looking to open a business again. Seems a nice fellow.
  20. Well Wakefield has finally posted some costs and it looks like we will need a minium of 40 cars to just break even. I'm still waiting on what kind of deal 5th gear can do us for organising it.
  21. Nooo.....
