Well not much of a family car, but it can work. I'd suggest get use to driving it around town, then get the car check out properly and take it to a race track to learn how to use it. Just make sure it's had the required upgrades before you do!

Also you can check the alignment of the window, if it is not pushing in the correct angle it can slow things down dramatically. To check, when closing the window, pull the window upwards and to the front, then try upwards and to the back. If it speeds up (more than you are pulling) it is likely the window has fallen out of alignment. Not a common problem on skylines but fords certainly have this problem.

Thanks Race snooze, I have read that thead to bits and it gives seriously conflicting reports. There is a seperate thread on these two turbo choices which I have also read many times. I'm after the feel and local experiance.

OK Some of you know me from the Wheels show or some Friday evenings. I would also say Paintball, but we know that one never go off the ground, but at least everyone got their money back! I'm probably asking in the wind here but if you don't ask you never get. I'm having a bugger of a time deciding between these two turbo upgrades and I'm getting to the crunch point of needing to make a decision. Does anyone have one of these turbo packages and is willing to show me how your car responds (nothing illegal), I'm after low to mid range response. Fairs fair when I get the upgrade done I'll take you out. I've also got a 6 pack of VB I'm very willing to give away. I know there's several GTR's in Canberra, but few with upgraded turbo's and probably fewer on this forum with a working car Thanks Jon

I'm in the exact same position, only looking to put about 1 to 1.2 bar on the turbo's and I can't decide between them. I was going to go for the Garrets but then the HKS comes with the actuators. What is the advantage of the waste gate actuators? Obvously getting new ones sounds better then reusing 11 year old ones, but do they make any real difference?

I've got a Jim's one and I tend to ride it a bit to achieve smooth launches. It is better to let it out quick and let it chirp a little rather than riding it.

OK So I replaced the handbrake boot, but found under the centre console and near the hand brake a silver gizmo. Looks stock just have no idea what it is.

Yep I had troubles with the hand brake boot, the original being convex at the ends. It ended up not fitting perfect but no one would be able to tell the difference just looking at it. The gear boot had the arrangement of holes incorrectly punched in it for me, and one of the holes was half stitched over, easy to fix. In the end they look soo.. much better, just like a new car, and real leather to boot. Thanks for the gear pablo101

Wow I haven't worked for that little money for years, yet I look at that and think, how much quicker I could get the car upgraded if I took a second job 7-3.30pm then 4pm to 2 am I can handle 4 hours sleep :-) Shame it's not cash
