  1. After installing a hks GTRS turbo it now Feels like i am driving with handbrake on, and its low on power, it is slow through the revs no coughing or missfiring though, is the GTRS a laggy turbo the main reason i purchased it was because it has good hype for responsiveness. with standard turbo would have no dramas spinning wheels in take off and even into second now i cant even get them to chirp I have an SAFC so shouldnt that rule out R&R?? When you upgrade to the GTRS was i meant to change injectors or Fuel reg?? Could it be fuel pump is not getting max volts?? supporting mods are Bosch 040 fuel pump FMIC Blitz BOV K&N pod filter Splitfire ign coils SAFC 3" turbo back exhaust with hi-flo cat gizmo boost controller Excedy HD clutch Please any help would be great, after spending so much on turbo kit it is really ticking me off
  2. Upgrade your fuel pump, i had to do the same, now that i have changed turbo to GTRS i have same problem and today i am upgrading pump again boost/fuel cut kicks in around the 14.2psi and you will know if you hit it, i used the apexi safc and have been for around 4yrs running around the 13psi mark, granted that my turbo did eventually let go, but only after countless races, circuit days and drift days, Using the safc will also remove factory boost cut, so make sure you have it checked on a dyno that you are not leaning off
  3. Boost controller is definately way to go, just remember though your lowest boost setting will always be dependant on how the actuator is set, so you could loosen off your actuator to the 7psi mark, then with the boost controller you can set your high mark at whatever you want. Would have to reccommend the gizmo IBC as it is simple to use, has 4 settings, with gain control and controls the boost really well. definately improve your lag factor
  4. I have done this on other turbo engines with adjustable actuator, but not a skyline, basically the tightness (or preload) on the actuator will determine your max boost, the only big problem is if the line blows off the inlet pipe the actuator will keep the wastegut shut and you can overboost.
  5. Yeah i might try to see if i can get the sound on camera as well, I get the noise as soon i start accelerating.
  6. Yeah i had the massive siren noise when my turbo let go (blew a hole the size of a 5 cent piece out of the front wheel), was really loud embarrasing sound and i was right in the middle of traffik i just pretended it wasn't my car and was looking around at other people as if it might have been there car LOL, but yeah when happened wouldn't make boost and the more you put your foot down the louder it got. But now i replaced the standard with HKS GTRS and it has a loudish whistle (no where near as loud as when turbo went) i have been assured it is quite normal, and they just spool loudly mainly due to the anti - surge vents. as far as supporting mods with the HKS turbo's I had SAFC, GTR fuel pump, fmic, Pod, blitz bov, splitfire ign coils, boost controller, dump 3" exhaust hi flow cat with standard turbo and making just on 200kwt but since putting on the GTRS i dont believe the fuel system is keeping up with demand, so i have purchased a bosch 040 pump and malpassi reg, i plan on installing these this weekend so i will let you know how it goes
  7. Cool thanks, was not expecting the turbo whistle to be so loud yeah sorry should have been more specific, i meant when the car is not under any load and you rev it once it gets up around the 3000rpm range it will start whistling
  8. Hey Guys I have just purchased and installed the famed GTRS and it has this loud whistling noise, when at idle and then reving the engine it will whistle through the air filter around 3000rpm onwards, but when you drive the car as you are accelerating it will produce the more whizzing sound (best described as similar to the engine noise sound you get through your speakers) does anyone else have the GTRS with a pod filter fitted that can tell me if theirs makes or doesn't make this noise or if it is normal. i have tripple checked for air leaks, gasket leaks - and can gurantee it is not the fuel pump. any help would be much appreciated Cheers
