  1. I must have a special ability to attract local idiots!!! For the hole drive up and back to the central coast i did not have any dramas with the drive; infact, the M7 is fantastic! Well, that was before i got back into the ACT! About 1km before i get to epic i am confronted with a car travelling NORTH on the SOUTH bound side!!! I was overtaking another car at the time so i had to floor it to get out of their way. No amount of horn bashing or flashing made any difference. They finally got the message when a truck that was still in the right lane refused to get out of the way, so the car finally pulled out of the way. Don't know what happed after that, but i really hope they figured out what the hell they were suposed to do.
  2. Did you see the driver? Did he have blonde spikey hair? Nah, it was too dark and I was never next to them to see properly. Is this tool a serial offender? (sorry, but i don't know how to do the quote thing)
  3. I have just spotted me! Well it was me being tailgated half way home. An obvious driving god felt the need to sit on my ass while on my way home. I sped up, they just sped up. I slowed down, they just got closer and closer. As we came to a set of lights where he could have gone past me, he just sat behind me; at the last second he changed direction and took of down a side street. Well, I was cranky by now so I gave chase to give him some high-beam action! (I am a real hero I know) He nearly lost it through the first roundabout, then irratically turned off at the next. I just kept going and took the long way home, just in case. This driving GOD was at the wheels of a white Nissan EXA (YDP 55E or YDP 55P) with huge cromies and a cannon exhaust big enough for a bus! I am impressed that he could keep it on the road though, the car was bouncing around like a basket ball. So, Canberra look out! There is a new owner of the streets and we must all pay homage to his mighty EXA which is too cool to do a reasonable speed, especially just after it had bucketed down tonight. BTW does anyone know who owns a white 33 YGT 33S? It parks near me at home, but I have never seen the owner.
  4. Good to see that I am not the only pretentious person about. My Mrs and some of my mates think I should lighten up, but everything posted here just shows that I am not crazy!! My latest gripe is with hero/arrogant drivers. The ones who do 120 in a 100 zone, then drop to 80 as soon as there is a hint of a hill or curve. I went to the coast on the weekend and was slowed down so much by these sort of people. Of course when there was a safe opportunity to overtake I did without any fuss; but these people really cheese me off when they try and keep up in a straight line and quickly dissapear once I have gone through a couple of corners. I can really understand (but not condone) why some people do stupid stuff in these situations just to get past these heros.
  5. Always up for a bit of driving. I haven't done the drive either, should be fun!
  6. I have been driving for about 10 years now and it took a while for me to get ito cars after that. When I did get into cars, my mates and I did the usual stupid stuff and all survived. We had no where to do our thing but on the streets. What would have been better if we had access to a track or off street area to have our fun. In Canberra there are some limited facilities available. But these are restricted in their usage by the noise complaints of 'nearby' residents. We were also promised a 1/8 dragway which has been canned again! (money and noise reasons) I did not really know how to drive unlit I got involved in motor club events. Nothing really exciting, just learning how a car actually handles and reacts in different conditions. What really worries me though, is that my cousin (sensible fella, going for his P's on tomorrow) is now going to be targeted for everything and anything; while my father-in-law speeds every where while drinking his coffee, playing whith his PDA and listening to John Laws does not have any dramas. He has had several accidents each year that I have known him and yet there are no add campaigns against the baby boomer generation! There is nowhere locally (yes I know Wakefield is just an hour away) that you can just jump in your car and go for a drive without having to look over your shoulder for cops or speed cameras. If there was it would become my second home!! P.S. If any of my info is incorrect please feel free to let me know.
  7. I'm in for sure!
  8. Many of the local Skyline people will be meeting up at the National Museum before cruising into Braddon or wherever. Meeting time is anywhere from 6:30pm so it is a bit hard to guage how many people will actually show up. It would be good to meet some people from out of town and have a massive convoy of skylines.
  9. My nasty mother-in-law gave me a season pass for christmas. So I guess I'll have to go then. It was great to see so many cars out tonight, just wish that all those awesome local cars would come out more often. Hope to see a good turnout at the museum tonight before hitting braddon (and the pubs)!
  10. Just wanting as much info on my toy as possible. BNR32003082 Thanks in advance Donnan
  11. And it those same people who complain about the noise that also complain about 'hoons'. Give us some where to have fun with our cars, then we have no excuse to do it on the roads!
  12. My previous car had a Mongoose M80 and my current car (32 GTR) has the Viper alarm. My only real gripe with the Mongoose is the sensitive nature of its electronics. I had to remove the battery on the old car and forgot to turn off the alarm. Instead of the siren going off when I removed the negative terminal, it just beeped at me and died! I went back to get it fixed under warranty and the installer tried to charge me for it; claiming that its electronics were not meant to cope under those conditions!! Other than that it worked fine. I have not had any such problems in the new car with the Viper system. I had to get a jump start when the battery died and had no problems with the alarm. I then got a new battery and the siren went of as expected when we diconnected the battery. After reconnection everything still worked fine. I may have just been unlucky with the M80, but if creating a spark on the battery is all you need to do to disable the siren (not the immobiliser) then it is not much of a deterant. As for the remote start: I am not sure if it is a standard part of the install, but my car can not be started if the bonnet is open or if the car is in gear (electronically controlled). Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to add my $2 worth since we don't have 2c coins anymore.
  13. These places deal with the Mongoose alarms: BDL car stereo in Fyshwick and Belconnen Braddon car stereo in Braddon (no joke!) Audiotech (i think) in Tuggeranong and Belconnen
  14. Just to let everyone know that the heat has brought out the thieving element in force! I work on Constitution Ave up near the defence offices. At some stage today there were multiple break-ins which were done by smashing windows rather than the old screwdriver in the lock trick. My genius office manager heard several alarms going off but was too stupid to say or do anything (she is closest to the street side windows)!!! I would not be suprised if they also hit the easy pickings of the big open defence carparks. Luckily for me I catch the bus Mon-Fri and just use my baby for weekend fun (dirty pun unintended). Pitty that this kind of topic has to be my first post but I thought everybody ought to know. So be on the lookout and hope for the best but always plan for the worst.
