  1. BumbleB, i said I thought the FD was and still is one of the finest driving chassis' in the world already, didn't i? I still stand though, on the fact that, if the drivers were reversed, the outcome would have been different.
  2. Lol, thats laughable but think about it - an F1 driver complaining about the cost of his license with all the millions in the bank? Pitiful and stingy... Itd be like us boycotting the bowzers over the price of fuel... hey... Thats not a bad idea if we all agree to do it.
  3. Thats just 480hp 4wd versus 450 Rwd... it couldnt be helped. Plus the fact that the Rx7 was 500kaygees lighter... I think the Roox was balanced and poised by the way but i have to say Tsuchiya manhandled the Rotor... Im almost sertain Tsuchiya wouldve been closer if the drivers were swapped and yep, the result would have been different.
  4. Yeah...i kinda agree with you. Still, it was a good comparo when you think about it. I suppose on one hand it shows the old FD has plenty of life in it yet - it is in my mind one of the finest most balanced chassis in the world and taking into account it was created more than 12 years ago, makes it something pretty special. What is it with Mazda and massive chassis' anyway? Horses for courses as they say and without doubt and of no real surprise, the GTR isnt the horse for that course...
  5. That was sick. That rotor was quick...and 500kgms lighter. I wonder what would have happened if Tsuchiya was driving the GTR...
  6. lol, yeah suuure, thatll buff right out. Cheap to fix? Where are the spares?
  7. Its very special. Im heading out there again this Saturday night - should be fun. The orange 33 belongs to Dan and he drives it pretty hard - he was saying somehting about dropping 80k into it and now hes trying to flog it off for about 20k because Navy blokes can only have one car and theres his 34gtr he has to make room for. Its quite a nice car but these guys, American blokes..how can i say this politely, are ...difficult to talk to.
  8. Well, i didnt write the article and there was plenty of other things happening... Although there was quite a lot of rice... tacky things like fake aluminium floor mats, 3 pronged AC charger docks for an assortment of air fresheners and the like... The add ons that only serve to make the car uglier... That doesnt mean there wasnt a shit load of other hardcore cars there, lol.
  9. Youll end up missing teh place pretty badly im sure even if youll deny it now Akeenan... I hear the reverse gaijin syndrome is pretty bad these days...
  10. awww, aint that sweet. Dont worry amigo, we'll be here to greet you with open arms and empty glasses - coz you know what you gotta do next time youre in town, lol. Unless we're on teh wangan, that is... ..although, i wouldnt consider me a 日本人 just yet...
  11. Richard, quit rooting around and move here - you know you want to, you japan loving closet dweller!
  12. And no sooner had i mentioned it, guess who beats me to it, lol
  13. Cheers Dave. yeah the C1 and C2 we drove on that night. Pretty daunting for the first time and i didnt have a navi - my buddy Pete speaks and reads pretty good Japanese so he was my Navi in the literal sense of the word. Im on to the pics - i should have a few up shortly but im guessing Richo will beat me to it.
  14. Something different every weekend i hear. Its really a huge open area for anyone who loves cars and wants to show off their ride and talk all things car related to hang out in. Plus the roads around it are awesome - flat, smooth with huge straights and long sweeping corners. Me and this other guy Dan in his 33 were strapping it across Yokohama bridge near daikoku in and out of traffic.... i lost my bottle but he kept it flat and soon was out of sight. When he said these crew drive hard he wasnt jokin. Ill get onto Poida about the pics.
  15. Lol, ive got no reason to doubt him after what he and a whole lot of navy boys with some awesome rides had to say about his car. He was saying the cars top speed is 380 and he regularly sees 350. Yeah, it was my first time - my daikoku cherry has been popped, lol. I couldnt believe the atmosphere - that would last all of 5 minutes in Oz...so much leniency here. Ive got to get that limiter removed. I can tell you the Sube got to 180 very quickly.
  16. He was saying that shit was proven! He was saying hes seen the wrong side of 350 many times... Everyone was saying he is the Wangan king. You should have seen this 33 - mind blowing power and noise. I couldnt even begin to list the mods. I felt like i was in a video game or something flashing hazards at the guy in front of me. Sweaty palms stuff, i can tell you now.
  17. What a night Saturday turned out to be. Not only did Poida and I meet some awesome peeps but there were some insane cars present with what i could only describe as the ultimate festival atmosphere. There was street drifting that got shut down by the cops, sound offs with some insanely loud systems at play, there were kids and oldies getting around, barbecues, wangan runs, you name it. Pete and I rocked up early and stayed till about 2 am - then i got lost on the way home and did some laps of the Wangan and the shutoko. Unfortunately for me my car hits the limiter at 180kph but i was in 5th with plenty of revs left and 6th to go. The Sube pulls hard and it was the first time on the wangan for me. We met a guy, actually a bunch of guys - one of them, a Japanese fella, had a 33 with 1000 hp in it and you should have heard the thing coming in and then on the road after - unbelievable. Petes got plenty of pics so im expecting him to get a few up here for you guys and gals to see. It turns out this 33 has a top speed of 380kph - just think about that for a second - and hes not afraid to use it. One of his buddies reffered to the car as a demon...i dont doubt it. Such an awesome night and ive made a few new friends now - i can tell you these boys drive HARD so itll be interesting to head out with them again... Pics to come shortly.
  18. Oh yeah while i remember - before i slip into an alcohol induced coma - What is the difference between a muzza and a bogan anyway?
  19. Roy, why are you being such a dick? You know damned well what i drive and the capabilities that it has.
  20. Do not feed the trolls boys and gurls...do NOT feed the trolls. I cant believe everyone is being so tolerant to someone who just posted 5 loads of utter, nonsensical garbage.
  21. Ah f**k... I just realized Roy, Boz, myself and a few others set this thread alight again... Oh well... Let it burn...
  22. Boz, I did watch the video all the way through and i did hear him say he loves driving it for the simpleness of it but this isnt the argument here. If it were we'd be arguing the case for a 170k Holden being worth the stuff it doesn't come with. Lol, he was saying, " If i want to go left or right, i turn this wheel here and if i want to go fast i push this pedal on the right and to stop the pedal in the middle." Hahah, he's taking the piss and you know it. For crying out loud, yes it placed below the 911 but Clarkson even quipped it was below the rest of Europe - a pretty damning statement in itself. If you really believe the technological advancements and creature comforts the M5 employs and excels in are overrated and unnecessary, you are essentially saying the 50 years of extra motoring engineeirng experience and motorsport achievement was also wasted. You may as well admit then that the R35 is a lame duck because of the same disease and that, my friend, would be a daft and pointless thing to do and we both know its beyond argument. Essentially, Clarkson was ridiculing the commodore, which they love, saying its nowhere on par with the product of equal and opposite stature that European manufacturers offer as standard...notwithstanding the bullshit comparo with cooking versions from the various stables. He simply admired the holden for what it was and that it was a technologically underwhelming brute with no finesse, manners and refinement. The bottom line in this for me then is the price tag and it STILL smacks of arrogance and over expectation.
  23. Roy, im sorry mate. Im going to have to pick away at your post - it needs it. You claim that people need a "badge" and that others dont. Why do you think people DO need that badge besides some who want the wank factor. Nobody buys an M to be a wanker. Thats for the 318 crowd. They DO buy the "badge" that you say others dont want for everything the badge encompasses which by no surprise consists of 50 more years of car engineering experience. To use the old adage, BMW was around before Holden was a twinkle in your daddies eye... Clarkson even said THAT was worth 30 THOUSAND pounds. Thats a heavy "badge" Roy. You go as far as to say that you admit you expect less from a car that is made by holden. So, in essence, you are admitting the Holden is overpriced which is a point i dont think you would argue but then you change your tune and say that less is more?? Sorry, mate, you contradict yourself. How can you claim on one hand that the car is awesome despite the fact that it has low levels of technology and yet claim that you arent getting "any less". You may not want diff settings, adjustable load bearing seats, gearbox settings and all the upperclass trimmings and build quality that goes with the M5 but the M5 DESERVES the price tag based SOLELY on what it has engineered into it and THAT without even looking at brand value! If i were to be cynical, id argue you resent the level of technology the R35 has in it based on the fact its the same price as the 427 and yet employs a load of technology the lumbering, neanderthall Holden could only dream of but we both know neither of us are that way inclined. If i wanted a base level, primal, edge of the seat, feel every bump, no traction control, diff/steer/brake assisted systemed, feel every rev and kph through every sinew of my body ill pump 5k to 10k into another superkart that will make the 427 feel like a rudderless titanic and deliver smiles everytime i even feather the throttle and even then can blow the 427 into the weeds in acceleration, cornering and braking G's and lap any circuit seconds faster. The 427 is a bullshit excuse, going by what you are saying, for a no hold barred, pure and unbridled driving experience. And at 170k, the underwhelming 427 is a ridiculously and outrageously overpriced lump of unrefined fail, not even served hot, but ice cold.
