  1. 7 dead and still counting...
  2. can you post up the links again Ben?
  3. It was supposed to be a normal day in Akihabara but it was anything but. Normally on weekends they close the streets off to traffic and let shoppers roam around but some f**king nutjob lost it completely and drove a 2 tonne truck right into the crowded street running over 3 people and hitting several others. As if that wasnt crazy enough, the guy stops, gets out of his car and starts stabbing random people with a kitchen knife killing 4 others. Its the craziest thing thats ever happened in Akiba and i was in Akiba today before all this happened. Scary shit i can tell you now. I also work right near that intersection so this has really hit close to home...i use that intersection all the time... When a Japanese person loses it, they really lose it in a big way...
  4. I just gotta say... These photos are off teh chain wasome. Its not just his shots so much but the way he focuses on the things we tend to overlook quite often...
  5. ahh, 6 tenths - a country mile. Cant blame him. Hes all class.
  6. You know, when it came to this design, im still not sure who copied who...aston martin with the DB6 or ferrari with the 275... Its just that ive always thought Fezzas like the 275 seemed really Astonish if you ask me...
  7. The scooter 'corse!
  8. That RS4 would absolutely crap on the Holden in ever aspect... Id take the RS4 in a heartbeat.
  9. Beautiful. A close second to the GTO in my books tho!
  10. it would go a long way to explaining his dads ultimate failage. Hamilton must have been a chip off someone elses block, lol. hamilton senior behind the wheel of a supercar..?
  11. Obviously doesnt run in the family does it?
  12. WHAT!? No seriously man, thats f**ked up. Hollywood would be horrified. Assault? On the keys i imagine..?
  13. Wel, Merli we may have disagreed severely on my choice in car in a different thread but here i know you are right and i speak from experience. Roy, to echo this... To say an M3 shares common DNA with the cooking 3 series is to have it back to front. Other way around. You can admit the M3 is one of the most revered cars on the planet - this is on a GLOBAL scale - and for damned good reason. BMW won awards for some of the best engines in the world AGAIN for the 3rd year running. "BMW has again dominated the International Engine of the Year Awards, with its new 3.0 liter inline-six twin-turbo engine from the 335i and 5.0 liter V10 from the M5 and M6 winning top praise. BMW dominated more than half of the awards. The results: Best engine BMW 3.0L Twin-turbo (335i) Best performance engine BMW 5.0L V10 (M5, M6) Best fuel economy Toyota 1.5L Hybrid Synergy drive (Prius) Under 1.0 liter Toyota 1.0L (Yaris) 1.0 to 1.4 liters Volkswagen 1.4L TSI (Golf, Jetta) 1.4 to 1.8 liters BMW-PSA 1.6LTurbo (Mini) 1.8 to 2.0 liters Volkswagen 2.0L Turbo (Golf, Audi A3, Audi A6) 2.0 to 2.5 liters BMW 2.5L (325i, 525i, X3, Z4) 2.5 to 3.0 liters BMW 3L Twin-Turbo (335i) 3.0 to 4.0 liters Porsche 3.6L Turbo (996 Turbo) More than 4.0 liters BMW 5.0L V10 (M5, M6) ... And that is before we even get to anything else/ I would gladly hand over 170-k for a state of the art BMW M series and KNOW without doubt the best engineering the world has gone into it.
  14. Well, Bozza, youre about one of the only guys in this thread that has remained impartial despite my insistence and hats off to ya for it bro. I dont feel like i need to check out other forums for this type of discussion- its being pretty well discussed here and openly so no..i dont feel the need to face up against 15 year old board surfers looking to sprout their first pube,... Im not going to budge though. It comes down to price, brand value, and bang for your buck and in all complete honesty, this 170k taxi just does not and will not come up with the goods, no matter how hard i try to tell myself you have a point when you say that people pay this amount for the aforementioned reasons. I know youre right and you know it too - on those levels but i cant see past the other facts on this motorcar. I hate the pursuit of and chase for certain things. Take KW's and HP for example. Pure numbers and in many cases as you know, overrated, a money pit and amounting to all but nothing except a hardon under the table at a beer night with the blokes. Even then most know thats talk for tossers and it will aways be. I know im digressing...but i could ramble on and on about my car and at the end of the day it amounts to jack shit. Who really cares about how much power your car has. Its so overrated. I say that anyone who spends this type of cash on a commodore has to have rocks in their heads. And to think, you can spend the same amount on a GTR and you will be way better off. I dont get it...so there are those that will say this and that, blah and blah but geez, the holden doesnt have the right badge, isnt going to set the "WORLD" alight like the GTR has and will amount to much except for within OZ- heck of a lot of money to pay for a domestic car with no global exposure or accolades! . Think locally, act globally they say...not Holden - its all local. And anyway, wasnt the VE recalled nationwide because of a serious design flaw? lol, again, it makes no sense. Better still, pour the damned money into a house before you buy this holden. Thats half your damned mortgage gone before you even start! Nah...feck that. Just buy the GTR. The thing is, The skyline is not even my favorite car nor is Nissan my favourite manufacturer...
  15. Outrageous. Its like telling people shit on a stick is the hottest thing and we are limited to 200 sticks so come get some.
  16. Point taken and yep you hit that one on the head. Sentimental value is a pretty crazy thing to blow 170k on, wouldnt you agree? Nostalgia also. I think youve said it best when you bought up the fact that because if the rarity, the car is more desirable - sure any rich wanker can go out and buy an M3. Only nostalgic rich wankers would buy the 427,lol Jokes aside, think about this. How and when did Holden come up with the thought that they could charge this amount of money for a car based on the assumptions that Aussies will gobble it up because of Brockie, Skafie, the Mountain and grunt? Thats pretty f**kin arrogant if you ask me. BMW for example sell cars because people are buying the whole package. Name any Exotica. They dont have blatantly over ambitious expectations. I think any ferrari commands the price thats attached to it. Why? Because youre bying it for the same reasons youd buy the Commodore. So whats the bloody difference i hear you ask? Three words. "Holden and Ferrari".... look at those two words again and ask yourself the question. For Holden to even think they are in the same mindframe as the person who buys the ferrari smacks of complete and utter arrogance. It smells to me. At least that does. Ive seen bitches here in Japan drop 4 grand on a handbag and all that for exclusivity... Exclusivity as i said is overrated. Nice post Yidz - i enjoyed that.
  17. at last someone who speaks my language/ Thats a beautiful design. organic shapes...much like the female body. If only all designers thought that way...
  18. Eug, sorry to be a bastard, ive got a slight lingering grudge against a coupla people on here - whats new - but yeah i can respect what youre saying as long as we respect each other admin or not. Gm is in the shitter as you know - weve known for a long time. How they get themselves out of it is up to management but at present theyre not adressing GLOBAL issues. For some daft reason - and remember this flows into the Aussi arm of the company - They still think bigger is better. LOL I guess they havent been reading the news or paying attention to any European and Japanese technological advancements!
  19. Sorry for the multiple posts people//// Ive got a lot on my plate but this topic really has stirred the pot so ..anyway Let the discussion continue i say.
  20. Mate, Where can you mention a place in Oz where you can do these things and feel safe doing them. ...... .. .. . .. Thought so. This is something else that irks me but more on that later. So. Power i also overrated. Skidz...well.ll...im not so sure about that - i have 4WD after all. This is why i like my Forester so much. It has usable and PROPORTIONATE power. Great and practical all weather usage. A mega KW road warrior is only worth bragging rights at the local watering hole in this day and age if youre honest with yourself. Its almost as if HSV has to tell the world they have the answer to all your driving needs. LOFL! It brings back the "game over" ad from the Monaro...ill never forget that one. Remember, the 427 is based on a lowly VE...nothing worth creaming anything except a sundae.
  21. lol, im only being passionate about what i know really. Discussions are always multi sided in many instances and i dont mind being part of a reasonable discussion as you would have it...
  22. Thanx Shaun. Yes the M3 is a different animal as the 427 is but if were looking at pedigree its a "no contest". The M3 - heck any M car - is a technological engineering tour de force. Like ive said a dozen times already, how Holden thinks that can lob the 427 in the price range of these things has me stumped and slightly insulted. Yes, its my opinion but im not alone in this.
  23. Chris, We are not narrow minded. It narrow minded to think we are. I can appreciate Holdens endeavors but face the beat ive been drumming the whole time - the 427 is overrated. Its STILL a commodore whether it leaves phat skidz or not. No Commodore can ever justify the 170k pricetag except for within one country - Australia. I suppose you would have me believe thats all that matters right? The R8 is not the 427 and thankfully doesnt shoulder the hefty tag either despite the fact that it is a load of fun to punt. Youve missed my point mate.
  24. LOl, i got a flash of it before the link crashed... Holden are on to us MAN, THEYRE ON TO US MAN!!!
  25. Bro, i can understand your argument and youve made sense in that the car will appeal to those it needs to appeal to but let me clear a couple of things up. The 427 does not have any carbon fibre paneling whatsoever. Dry sump it does have but since when was that a technological breakthrough? Seriously. 6 pot brakes? - Bar speak for "Ive got bigger dildos than you and im not afraid to use them." Bozodos, i know youve read my posts so you should know im arguing about the car from a technological standpoint as well as all the other perspectives that have been brought about by others including yourself, lol, so just keep this in mind. I swear i would not have the patience to hold onto a car like this to make it more valuable... who from the ...what generation are we up to now??..Z?...so noone from this generation "Z" is going to give a rats about fettling and pampering a holden for 40 years in the hope that it will appreciate. Ive been wrong on so many occasions though so i wouldnt be surprised! Onto your question about the Fonz. The Sti version has the same platform as the cooker. What the Sti has that the cooker doesnt is... Uprated IHI turbo and compressor wheel ( ask Daioni for this one if im wrong ) 4 pot brembos on the front 2 on the rear Front Sti bar, sideskirts, rear bar and boot lid - not to mention the obligatory pink stickers. 18 inch Rays alloys with Bridgestone Potenzas fitted standard. Larger STi intercooler Stiffer underbody bracing Larger diametre STi exhaust - not sure what Dia. 6 speed manual gearbox Sti Alacantra front buckets and rear trim Sti wheel and Gear Knob, 240kph speedo with 7000Rpm redline Thats all i can think of right now... Hope that helps.
