  1. Thanks for the advice Ken, I really appreciate it. Youve cleared up a lot. Im pretty sure I know what decision i need to make. I TOTALLY agree on the Fezza...i have not come across ONE modern Fezza thats RHD... what is the deal with that anyway? Porsche is almost the same...although not impossible. Even in the M3 range, i have not seen ONE convertible E46 M3 in the last 4 months of searching...its like BMW just didnt bother to send them to Japan...???
  2. Hmmm... Maximum profitability and minimum risk... All i can come up with is Euro. Id thought of the S204, the Evo wagon, the NSX, the GTR, ( ...not the 35..dont have enough money ) a Lexus, a Merc ( but i dont want one for reasons you may have already read and know ), an Audi RS4, a bunch of TVR's, the R32 Golf, an Aston Martin DB7 for crying out loud... i mean...ive looked at a bunch of cars and taking your advice and Richards advice into account, an E46 M3 still stands out as a good all rounder with a solid resale. To be completely honest, even if i only break even and that would be a tragedy considering the car will end up being in better condition than most locally delivered examples, then i can tell myself it was great to have owned the car and enjoyed it for a year and i lost nothing. Still. Thats not what im trying to do. You're being a bit cryptic mate but Im pretty sure i know which country of origin you think the car should come from though. And besides im not ready to stop at just one...the last car will be the one i want to own above all others and it isnt an M3... Youre dead sure about the other stuff though, yeah?
  3. Well, like Sewid, ive driven the car ( numerous times ) and i can say that it has more than enough power to get you into trouble but you would have to be doing something extremely stupid to get to that point. Its ridiculously fast but at the same time, able to handle driver errors...unless you try to make it do something it was never designed to do...hence the wreck we now see before us.. What is that? The 3rd one?
  4. Thanks for that Ken. Im aware of the insurance and parking guidelines but im confused on a few things... I definitely wont be going with a dealer...private sale only. Your numbers are pretty much what ive calculated too and i was aiming to at least walk away with the loan paid off and 10 to 15 thousand in the pocket. Unrealistic? Maybe... but worth a shot though, i tell myself. I suppose i am trying to find a middle ground between what i paid for it and what the market value is for a similar car that was locally delivered ( all things considered )... hence the mark down.. I want to ask though, i thought customs goes by the value of the car as it was when it was bought in Japan? Richard was saying that its exempt from LCT if its around 4.5 million, for example. One other thing i dont understand is how a person will be knocked back on a loan because the car was a grey import? How do they sell Japanese grey imports? Are Euros looked at differently? Are you dealing with the same things with yours? I suppose youre planning on doing the same thing, yeah? So, if you could pick any car that would be totally worth exporting to Oz, what would you go with? Or have you already chosen? I know, I know..20 questions...
  5. Well, youll be glad to know there are still plenty of vending machines that you can grab booze from even as late as 12pm. I grab the odd tallboy from one only 1 minute from my apartment. I have never understood what compels people to steal from others. I mean, if you were starving then its a no brainer but to do it out of spite for someone else? Thats deplorable. Even worse..to do it for kicks? Where do these parasites get off? If anyone tried to break into my M3, id be livid, but thats what security systems and insurance are for... and chances are i could have prevented it from happening...
  6. f**k am I glad I dont live in Adelaide anymore.. too much vigilante macho bullshit. Oh and a complete disrespect for personal property. Much safer in Tokyo...where there are virtually NO guns or violence and i can leave my car running and unlocked outside my apartment with the front door wide open and go for an hour walk and nothing will have been touched. Oh and some of the best martial arts trainers in the world are here. I havent had to use it once.
  7. Sewid, im ashamed of you. You've driven one of these like i have and you refer to that pretzel as "extremely hot" Shame, shame shame.
  8. Nardi steering wheel on r35...
  9. You speak from experience?
  10. lol, youre funny. Sorry, the fish aint biting. You seemed to overlook my other examples. Take the blinds off and then perhaps you can see the forest from the trees, as they say. How bout a bit of reverse psychology? "Aussie drivers are crap! I should know...im an aussie." Any self respecting aussie worth his driving salt will hate that line.
  11. OOOUUU! missed out by a U! and No..you cant buy a vowel...
  12. This shit has to stop right now. Its NOT on. Asians are bad drivers? GTFO. So a blanketing stereotypical generalization isnt going to offend? Not on your life sonny Jim. Thats why there have been countless drivers in F1. Coz "asians" cant drive. Thats why Drift is renowned around the world. Coz "asians" cant drive. Thats why there is Team indonesia and team china in the A1GP - right up there mind you - ...coz...again, "asians" cant drive. " Oh and a Japanese finishing on the podium is a miracle - coz why? "Asians" cant drive!" Gee, do i need to remind anyone where the cars this forum are based on came from? Its no wonder coz..well...you know who cant drive, lol. Why the bloody hell do you think the R35 is as quick as it is??!!!! Coz...nah...im done. Give it a f**king rest already. This needs to be nipped in the bud now before that BS statement takes hold.
  13. Oh boy do i hear that. Im not in any particularly crucial rush but a 2002 with 15k on the clock is very interesting. Ive seen another one that had "minor" RHRQ damage that had been "repaired". If thats true why wouldnt the car have shaken then, lol. Avoided that one. Not sure if the '02 has books and complete service history but im still awaiting a verdict from the initial contact. I wonder what the Japanese version of the RAA inspection is..??
  14. Ok, kewl. Let me know..i HAVE to know about the Navi unit but ill have a google in the meantime...
  15. Hey, ive saw that just the other day! Some Peugeot 307 had a Euro under the Jap plate. LHD is out of the question in Oz, unless something has changed in the time ive been here? In response, RHD cars are plentiful here. Every week. EXCEPT, strangely, for Ferrari, Porsche, and lamborghini. I think i have seen 1 RHD Fezza out of thousands and only a Hanful of RHD Porkas...not ONE Lambo. Its just that there are way more LHD. Its all image. And a lack of import restrictions plus a few thousand Euros is not going to harm the local economy considering Japan has 7 or 8 (?)manufacturers. The E46 you went for a ride in didnt have a 250kw powerplant plus all of The M goodies you could poke a stick at. The chassis is a winner. It just needed more balls.
  16. Yeah their lines were completely different, Webber was driving defensively at times - 2 whole seconds a lap slower is enough to give you an idea how defensively. Hamilton could not get a clean enough tow onto both the back straight as well as the front into turn one such was the wash of turbulence around the car. I really believe the aero grip needs to reduced before we can ever see wheel to wheel racing again. having said that, 3 abreast down the back straight was awesome - DC and gonzo having a drag race and Pikey truping them both with a slice down the outside. Outstanding.
  17. Yes. That was plain dumb. Obviously the Prime was the tyre to have. Why Hamstrings chose to do 2 stints on the option is beyond me.
  18. No, youre all wrong. Its not traction related at all. Its not Mechanical grip. Its Aerodynamic. Its simply a matter of following the car in dirty air. The flow of air around the following car is much more turbulent. Raikkonen even mentioned it in the press conference. Geez, werent any of you people listening? Hamstrings was fast as, you just have to look at the fastest laps of the race. Hamilton was only 7 hundredths slower than Raikkonen.
  19. probably because audi has quattro and pwns WRX. Ive seen some shockers too... NOTDADS on a beat up old black 735i - must have been a 1984 model? I remember exhaust technology had a sky blue TX-3 4wd laser with JUSTTRY on it. I remember seeing someone with the plates WIFEBTR on it, lol. Personally id like to get the plate GAIJIN.
  20. oh and Laurence, what happened to my PM? Write me back yo!
  21. I found one in Shiga, 2002 model, 4.5 million yen, Right hand drive, full leather options, manual, Harman Kardon sound system, 15 K on the clock, Silver, factory Navi... very nice car. I have someone chasing up on it. If its kosher, we'll start bargaining. You can get RHD M3's but finding one with the exact wish list is a bitch... Check it out... http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail.ph...KN=CU0002173112
  22. Thats pretty bloody good news for Webbo then isnt it?! actuall no it isnt,....He'll still manage to have someone harpoon the sidepod into turn one...probably a crazed Gonzo trying to do what the Renault obviously cant and that is win a race...
  23. Shell staff in Oz are the same what with those dockets and all... So! Whats a capsule hotel like? Ive never stayed in one but had the inclination all the same!
