Whoa whoa. Im not trying to do anything but get a nice ride in the driveway, dont get me wrong Laurence. Don't misunderstand. So what was the M3 E36 like to drive? Ive only serviced them, never road tested. How the hell did that happen? Anyways, whats the impression you got? Craving,..craving,.... I never took you for a BM driver Lorry, thats fo shizzle. Still, good to hear about it. The thing im worried about the most is the Navi unit... Mercs have given me a similar headache...JPN spec u nits NEVER match with OZ spec units... What to do...what to do. OEM or aftermarket? The WIFE by the way, doesnt have a license. Thats okay, i can chauffeur her around no dramas. Im thinkin manual over smg... whats your take on that?
-
I do Lorry. He's in the trade and has freaked at the thought of me getting a car like this. He was like, " You drove a shitbox colt 3 years ago and now you're coming back with an M3? How the f**k can you expect me to believe that?" Im still laughing at the thought of posting him pics and vids, lol! Looking forward to the shock on his face when i roll up in it.

dswifty, you may not be singing the exact tune but i think we like the same band. Ive given up on Mercedes... at least for now. I understand they had a world wide recall, the brand has taken a serious knock of late...people are more wary of the badge than ever before. Ive read and heard about all sorts of electrical and mechanical problems associated with them too and even though the average Japanese person will pamper their merc, they will also fork out hand over fist, wads of cash to keep it going. Such is life here, failure or not. Not for me. But... Every time i search the web for an E46 M3 review i hear people gush over the things... and it brings back memories thats for sure. Ive never driven one but ive worked on many. Ive always wanted and dreamed of having an M3... It seems thats about to be fulfilled. And youre right dswifty, even if i only break even, ive had a fantastic car to drive for a year and thats nothing to complain about. I hear the M3 is a car everyone who is serious about driving should drive, and or own, sometime in their lives. The cars that im looking at are just that...other peoples cars. Im going into this with the mentality that im getting this car only to pass it onto someone else in the near future. Should still be fun though! Now...Beer Baron.. about those beers... who owes who? This tab has gotten mighty messy.

Ha! Not like i really care Akeenan, but would you like me to drive down to where you are and take you for a spin? Ive got someone checking an M3 as i write this.

...not to mention there are much better options for gaijin than gaijin girls...

No, no! Ive heard you loud and clear. Yep, i got what Richard was saying. Im just going to enjoy it and then send it back, regardless. At the end of the day, even if i only break even, ive won the game. I would have thought an M3 with super low kays would be an exception, no? Yes, i had thought about the depreciation but it wont be savage. Im estimating around 10% at most. So... Car On road in Tokyo: $45,000 Parking: Free, my wifes parents are letting us keep the car at their place. Insurance: $2500 per year - if that. Shipping and insurance: $3500 Import Duty/GST/stamp duty: $3000 Registration: $500 Depreciation: $10000 All up: around $65000 on the road in Oz. It should be worth at least that amount next year, surely? I could be way out of line with these numbers, then again, they could be pretty close. Im sure you guys could correct me if i am...Please feel free to tell me.

Well, In Japan and putting "rare" aside, when you can buy a 2004 M3 coupe with under 20,000 kilometres on it for $45,000 AUD , and the cars market value is over $100,000 AUD in Australia , the strongest possibility is there that you will make a hefty profit even if you cut it down because its a grey import. Do the math and you come out a clear winner. Its a risk but a calculated one. You mean to tell me, if i had an M3 like the one i described above, it all checked out, was a grey import, in pristine condition, and it was tagged at $80,000 ( which is a full $20,000 under market value ) you wouldnt be interested if you were in the market for one? As if.

Oh here we go... Richard will be doing backflips after Kubica topped the sheets in praccy 3. At least webbo is up there but wtf is going on at mclaren and ferrari? Kovi down in 19th, raikkonnen down in 14th????

where was that taken? colin will be hunting you down!

ahah, thats no ordinary "wagon". its the first evo in wagon form to come out of japan. Its almost exactly the same as the evo 9 but can carry 4 adults, the dogs and golf bags in the boot.. and almost no extra weight has been added to the chassis. i liiike velly maaach.
-
...as Pique jr can attest to. Hes not having the most stellar of outings to start the year is he? Just ahead of the S.A's.. not velly naiice.
-
abso-ma-lute-lee the track. Dusty,. greasy and hot. No TC and you have some mayhem. I liiike!

Dai oni, i havent seen you around the forums for ages. Thanks for the input, much appreciated. Ive been seriously considering a JDM mitsu or subie as youve read above..the evo wagon or the S204, both of which were not released locally. Im positive both these cars will attract plenty of interest, but some of the negative variety... The merc is a risk. i know that. Im trying to balance the risk vs reward in my head. I reckon if the car is priced correctly, given the fact that it is a grey import, undercutting by a large margin the cose of a ADM merc and i should still come out in front, right? Your spot on when you mentioned risk... its not a significant one but its still there...

Dear Mrs Colin...

Richard, are you getting a 35?

Webber had a great 2nd practice. I think he finished second behind Hammo. I just hope that trend continues until the end of the race on Sunday. No bollocksing gremlins!

This is going to turn into one massive photochop thread much like the "small dick" hoon commercial with the tsutsutsutsutsuuuutuusuu VL...bloody funny.

Now thats what i call perspective. Im a uni lecturer by trade. In my 3rd year now. Married. life is pretty good but it has its moments... Good jobs in teaching are hard to find at the moment, such is the glut of skilled workers due to NOVA collapsing. Id hold off if thats your only option...but it would still be worth a shot if your determined enough. I have considered a BMW but which one? I saw a 2003 M3 manual for 3.2 million recently but it didnt have vehicle inspection ( shaken ) and that made me wonder what was wrong with it. Too cheap. A CLK will do nicely. An E500 will also do the same job but it will invariably be a couple of years older. 04~ vs 02~ Not like it matters really. I wonder which would be the better option with the Aus Domestic market in mind... According to some on line sources, the COMAND unit in the merc can be changed providing the wiring is the same behind it. The disc for the maps can be bought from mercedes direct. I know it will cost upward from $2000 to change it over but i dont really mind that expense if it will facilitate an easier sale, which im sure it would. At the end of the day, even taking into consideration the fact that it is a grey import and knock money off it, if the car is priced right, i cant see why it wouldnt sell, grey or not. S204...you see. Theres the rub. I saw the S204 and the evo wagon and i thought..you know, they would do allright as well...but. Its not a late model merc or BMW 5 series. Its a different ballgame. Id love to hammer an evo or an sti but it would be lacking many things the merc has. Look the other way and the merc wont have the raw speed and thrill i know the subie and evo will have. plus, the merc is more common. Much more common. I Dunno. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other i reckon. Im still leanng toward the luxury over the performance, though. Thanks for the reply, dswifty! By the way, what euros did you see here exactly?

You dont belong in here. Now shoo, toilet beast!

So.. Title bets anyone? Care to set up an E-T.A.B? Hammie FTMFW Guzzler kimi in second and Massa third. Kubica to DNF in every race...just because hes a "bery unnatractive man." God, i hope BB doesnt look like that. Kubi reminds me of the butler from the addams family Are poles as unattractive as their horse cars?
