mate i would have loved to have kept it but some out there in cyberspace were putting pressure on the mods to have it changed - Do it for the children!!..sooo..i didnt have a choice really. I dont know what the big deal was with it anyway..there wasnt even any nudity in it. Just a chick with an ipod and yep, well she did have nice boobs...not that you could see em or anything... Anyhoo.. must have been the unbuttoned fly or something?
-
Did you end up getting what you were after?
-
yep twas me with one of his japanese friends too.. You had the black evo 3 at the time. Have you sold that yet?
-
Like theres even an option to say no.

It sounds to me like you are experiencing the same things i am. Ive also been here for more than 3 years. The difference is the day you realise that in certain situations you shouldnt care what those around you are saying, thinking and doing is the day you start to become more comfortable being here and being around people that will invariably say whatever they want about you. Just do as the japanese do. I see them ignoring each other every day. Im starting to get used to that. It bugged the hell out of me previously. Drinking and eating on the train for example. Being a lout a few times a month. Totally acceptable and even socially expected. Being a foreigner here allows me a huge amount of social freedom, regardless of the latent racial tension, which of course i know is there. Yes japan is xenophobic. Yes, this society has some serious issues. Every society does. This is a safe country. Ive already said that but again, the only problems ive ever had with people here have been aggressive foreigners and over trivial matters. I like the fact that noone sticks their unwanted noses in my business. Good luck trying to get that kind of privacy in Oz. I can make my own progress in life and know im not going to be f**ked with by people trying to bring me down. The tall poppy syndrome does not exist in this country. If i fail its because i was too damn lazy or incompetent not because of others trying to shoot me off the ladder. Hahah, besides the point i know but I used to think that Australia had the best beaches. A short trip down to the coast of Izu and over to the 7 islands convinced me otherwise. I dont know. So many things happen in this country on a daily basis its hard not to think life is better here. Theres more action, fun to be had...the place never sleeps. God, i would dread going back to Adelaide where everything died after 5pm and everyone is in your face. So much ego. So over that. You just cant get your own time and space there. I suppose that there is a reason why its called the retirement city but im nowhere near retirement yet and id rather go back in a pine box than leave japan any time soon.

Im going to have to have another crack at it just to be sure then, wont i? I wanted to play with the gear settings on the multi readout that night but there just wasnt enough time.
-
We've met before, buddy. No need to get hostile.
-
You wont hit the limiter in 5th but i certainly hit redline in 4th and it was still going. God knows what the speedo was reading. Everything was happening so quickly.

I will be driving the GTR again in the coming days and will have some clear videos and photos to post up. Hey Steve, Pete missed out on his 2kyu by 2 percent... can you believe that? Heartbreaking.

Here is the very crappy vid i shot with my old Nikon S4. We had just left the restaurant and i was jumping into the drivers seat. Again, the car is awesome and a big thanks to Koichi as his trust in me behind the wheel of a 2 month old GTR was invaluable. I will try and get some clearer, more precise photos and videos at a later stage.

Can anyone clear up something i am interested in asking? I may be wrong but some here have bought their PS3's from Japan and are playing them via a HD TV that supports both NTSC AND PAL? I have a 32 inch Bravia LCD and i know without a converter i cant play PAL games. Are there any other problems besides colour system compatibility? Or is it that i'm missing something. Really, i just want a piece of the online GT5 action..im champing at the bit to claim the flag...

Well its a screwed up tradition Richard, that should be abolished. For one, i would rather go sober and drink Gatorade all day than be cornered into drinking from a choice of 3 of Australia's worst drops - Fosters, VB and Crown lager and THIS at a supposed first class sporting event. Someone mentioned Coopers? Ahhh, yes. Now THAT'S more like it. Seriously but, you would think that at a world class event like the F1 WDC they would have something a little better to serve up than cat piss. For heavens sakes James Boag, get your fricking act together. "The reason why we are losing the bloody GP is because there isn't any bloody Tasmanian beer at the bloody circuit!" ( You could make a commercial out of that line ) Sorry. It is... No James Boag? No race for you, sir. At least in Suzuka i got to drink Asahi and Kirin which is leagues ahead in taste and body compared to what has previously been mentioned. Getting tanked up before the event seems the only feasible option in Oz in this day and age, what with the beer they're serving from the taps...

i bet you cant wait giant. Youre a lucky lucky man. To hell with luck, youve worked your ass off im sure. You have the full quinella now.

Youre right Sewid. I got a dose of my own medicine. I guess i deserve that for being pessimistic. Sorry i doubted you. I suppose i was incredulous that you beat me to it! Still, the GTR made its mark and left a strong impression on me even if it didnt belong to me. Im just happy and content i was given the opportunity to sample it and trusted enough in essence by a complete stranger to "have a go" with it. Japan does crazy things to those that arent Japanese and i can chalk this unique experience up to another thing i just cant explain being a foreigner here. That would never have happened for me in Australia. I stake my life to that little statement and am grateful none the less. Hope you all enjoyed my write up. It was fun for me to let you all know how it was.. Now..for that video some have been asking for...
-
Yes, very.

Hes a plastic surgeon. Does a lot of work with nose augmentation and reduction, breast enlargement and *gasp* for 600,000 you can even have your...you know...made a couple of inches longer. The haters must have known me in a previous life and hate for hatings sake. Dont let it bother you.

You wouldnt even begin to understand, Ken and trying to paint my intentions in a bad light is misguided at best. I seem to remember your GTR was off the chain quick. That was a good experience for me and the first time id been in a GTR. Cheers for that memory. We had fun. Dinner was great, Koichis a nice bloke. Gtr's an awesome car. Wheres the argument here?
-
Kens vids should clear up the engine note question for you.
-
Oh and one more little side note. If I was on the wrong side of what i should or should not have been doing in the car, why is it that weve arranged to go for another spin next week? I suppose the bridge isnt burnt after all.
-
Yep as soon as ive cut and edited the video i will post a linkey poo, just for you Ken, seeing as you would probably be the only person who doesnt believe me. I dont doubt you really. Going from driving a shitty beat up colt to having a friend who let me drive the R35 is a heck of a change, wouldnt you say?
-
Would you like to see a video, Ken? Koichi openly invited me to enjoy the car. He asked me if i had a license and if i have driven in Tokyo before. He and i both know the GTR is for everyday performance and i treated it with respect while exploring its capabilities. He was quite happy to let me have the experience. A genuine nice guy. At one point he was busy typing emails to some of his girlfriends while i did a little exploring of the GTR's capabilities. Haha, at one point the girl he was talking to on the phone was asking what my "type" was. I was torn between that discussion and getting to grips with what his new car was all about. I digress. Its a trust issue, Ken. Koichi trusted me. You don't and that fine. Some people in this world will still trust people regardless and he wouldn't have let me anywhere near the car if he didnt think it was safe to do so.

The doors definitely didnt feel too heavy. They have a nice solid feel to them. The chassis too, doesnt feel its weight. Its quite unassuming really. Youre thinking i know this is 1700 odd kilos worth of car, minus driver and passengers but it definitely doesnt feel or drive like its too heavy. The trade off between the kerb weight and the technology propelling that mass is very well balanced. As for the seats, i did notice that when i got in the car Koichi had his seat at a reasonable distance between himself and the wheel and the same for me when i drove it, but even then there was VERY little room between the back of my seat and the rear passenger seat. An issue im sure in regards to every day practicality.
