see you alex...it was great to see you on the grid even if it was only for a short time... Wurz confirms immediate retirement from F1 By Pablo Elizalde Monday, October 8th 2007, 15:11 GMT Alex Wurz has confirmed he is retiring from Formula One racing, as revealed yesterday by autosport.com, and the Austrian will not even take part in the Brazilian Grand Prix. "I would today like to announce my retirement from active racing in Formula One," Wurz, 33, said in a statement released by Williams. "I would like to thank my family and fans, everyone at AT&T Williams and my previous teams, as well as the media, for all of their support during my Formula One racing career. "In such a hard fought environment as Formula One, I have always maintained that if you have a moment's doubt about what you are doing, then it is time to stop. Privately I began to have these thoughts earlier this year and so have decided that now is the time to make my announcement. "Racing this season has been a real pleasure, especially securing the podium in Canada which was pretty sweet along with a number of other strong races, but now it is time to call it a day. "I'd like to thank the team for accepting my decision and I wish them all the best for the last race of the year." Wurz made his Grand Prix debut in Canada in 1997 and spent several years at McLaren as a test driver before joining Williams last year. He returned to racing this year but has often been unable to match the pace of teammate Nico Rosberg, especially in qualifying. "I look forward to my future and perhaps the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and skills in Formula One and I have some discussions underway," Wurz added. "I may also race again, perhaps in Le Mans or other categories and certainly some of my time will now be committed to the very important subject of road safety." Team boss Frank Williams added: "Alex has made an invaluable contribution to the team for the past two years, first as one of the best test and development drivers the team has ever worked with, and more recently as a race driver. "This season Alex has had some very strong drives in difficult circumstances and we would like to thank him for all he has contributed. Alex is well known, immensely popular and widely regarded as one of Formula One's gentlemen. "I am sure I speak for everyone in the paddock when I wish Alex and his family the very best for the future." Williams said Wurz will not be racing at the season finale in Brazil, and that his replacement will be announced tomorrow. The British squad have Kazuki Nakajima as their test driver.

lol..i heard yours was the cheapest and its free for anyone to enter..2 for the price of one last time i heard was it bb?? or was it bring a friend and they can come in for free? i suppose i shouldve elaborated but i dont always have the time. No need to get your knickers in a knot... in Shibuya there are some great 300 yen bars, and that for each beer and anything you want to eat. i prefer shibuya to shinjuku anyday of the week. Its easy to navigate and pretty much everything is there within spitting distance from the station. Shinjuku itself is just too big...station can be a nightmare to navigate ( although its okay for me, ive been using it almost everyday for 3 years ) and places can therefore be hard to find. Having said that friends and i have found many cool places to go there but you would be struggling to think of one of the top of your head thats cheap, attracts the girls, and has easy access. Shibuya doesnt have that problem. Shimo kitazawa, 10 minutes out of shibuya is also a great place to go drinking. It has a ton of 2000¥ 2 or 2 1/2 hour nomi houdai ( all you can drink ) bars right close to the station. very crowded with friendly locals.

...or he was flashed by a large chested brazillian chick on a wet straight and lost it into the wall...happened a couple of years back when he was at jaguar as far as i remember... check this out... -Aussie F1 superstar (er)...Red Bull driver Mark Webber was kind enough to sit down with SoC after completing the first day of winter testing at Bahrain. SoC: Hey Mark, how are you doing in the desert? Webbo: G'day mate. SoC: So Mark, the new car has been a little off the pace so far this year. What's going on? Webbo: Well mate, the thing is that sometimes it takes a little time for a new designer to mesh with a new team. Plus Adrian is always rambling on about America's Cup yachts and double keels and so on. I said "what the hell mate, this is F1, a sport for men, not some pussy ass Sailing." He's a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock. SoC: Yeah well we heard that the car doesn't exactly fit you properly? Reports of bruising? Did you have a few too many meat pies this off-season? Webbo: No mate, I'm on strict prawn sandwich and Adam's ale diet. Plus I spent the off-season riding mountain bikes across Tasmania. Not perving around ass over tits chasing after Shelias. Newey designed the car for some Scotch-swilling sqaure-jawed Scottish ocker. I'm tall for F1 mate, but I make up for it with a heavy right foot. SoC: What do you think about the fact that Williams seems to have picked up a lot of speed over the off-season? It seems like you have made a habit in your career of going from fast teams to slow ones? Webbo: Yeah mate. Last year's car was a woofer, let me tell you. Those pommie pricks didn't know how their arse from their ear when it came to making a fast car. That thing was a dog's breakfast. They never gave me a fair crack of the whip. And now that thing goes go flat out like a lizard drinking? I don't believe it. SoC: Great, well thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Good luck with the rest of the test. Might want to try to finish ahead of the Super Aguri tomorrow. Webbo: Cheers, mate.

awhahahah! Thats a scenario i hadnt thought of... bloody hell could you imagine it? i reckon theres a bit of HIT MAN money being thrown around at the moment...im sure Massa has been asked to take one of the macs out come race day...
-
also remember there are going to be ALL SORTS of midgames being played in the next two weeks... all designed to make the other person crack come race day...i dont know if Hammy will be mentally tough enough to deal with this kind of pressure, F1 style.. FA and KR on the other hand...well, theres no doubt there is there?
-
still waiting for that photochop! i dunno. The wheel base of the ferrari should be suited to Interlagos all round i think, so we can safely guess that we will have a very close 4 way battle on our hands come sunday two weeks time... this championship could not have come down to the wire any better than this! What a grandstand finish it will be. CANT WAIT!

Gday jash, im in tokyo so itd be great to tip a few with you when youre in town. Dont know if youd want to socialize with an undesirable lout like me though...! ill be heading to TMS myself as i want to see them unwrap the GTR with my own eyes but also to have a gawk at all the other forms of eye candy they have there...
-
Jash, i sure hope you get some water proof insurance... and one of those flame thrower thingies they have for car security in South Africa..torch the bastard thief and not even a bubble on the paintwork! the recent spate of GTR thefts nation wide has me a little worried about your soon to be born baby.. mate its going to attract some major attention and not all of the desired kind...

wheres a photo chop of hammies dad not being able to pull him out of that big bad nasty gravel trap?? i swear that thing was there like a tractor beam pulling lewie in saying, im going to claim you! cant believe what a noob manouver that was...i watched the footage and his tyres were caned like 2 laps before the stop! why the hell didnt he come in ??? stupid. He choked like a fat man getting the heimlich manouver... and ct, theres a very good chance lewis will get brain fade in interlagos... he has alonso caning for his 3rd championship and KR is salivating at the chance of claming his first...i think its very possible that hammy will get a cramp in his hamstring...( bad joke i know ) ...he may well choke on it...

i thought this was interesting... Alonso Has Another Alternative Alonso's options for 2008 have, to date, been limited to Renault, Ferrari and a sabbatical. But the first would represent an embarrassing climbdown, the second has been ruled out, and the third dismissed by Alonso himself. A transfer to Red Bull, therefore, emerges as a genuine alternative. The team is well resourced, boasts a design team of Adrian Newey and Geoff Willis, and is finishing the season strongly. A swap deal involving Mark Webber may also appeal to McLaren.

no it doesnt. thats the bloody point... you all have to realize that until the launch we are all speculating and wasting oxygen. for the love of God, cut this out and wait for the launch like all good little boys and girls do.

Tsukuba Race Prep (all Finished, Some Vids & Pics ) !
m3gtr replied to giant's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
awesome. the bit where you came across the fishtailing BMW 2002 was interesting but a little hairy! The car sounds great and is being driven well. I imagine you will have to have a look at gear ratios for tsukuba. It seems to me that it was well set up for QIR but wont you make the gearing a little longer, especially in 3rd and 4th for the japanese trip? Russ, i am also wondering why youre using the standard GTR S-wheel??? surely its time to get a different tiller? Adam -

LH on pole for China! Well done son. That last lap from him was a stunner. He deserves to be WDC with that kind of form. good to see RBR right up there with DC 5th and sir 'barf a lot' Webbo in 7th, although i wouldve preferred it to be the other way around... still, Marks lap times indicate hes running heavier...when isnt he? and that will be interesting to watch. Great to see both of them in front of BMW. How RS managed 6th is amazing...must be that rocket stuck up his backside has been lit because hes facing unemployment. RBR's claim that they will take 4th place in the constructors championship holds a lot of water now that Wurz is in a dismal 19th and Rosberg could only manage 16th. Theres a 70% chance it will rain tomorrow so either way, we are in for a rippr of a GP tomorrow and im looking forward to LH getting the Number 1 for the next season when he wins tomorrows race!
