  1. depends on the use of the car.. Personally, i'd be thinking ~11 under full boost and 12 coming on to boost. This will keep your pistons a bit cooler if you plan on doing track/drift. Your 800cc injectors will be fine for that turbo I'd be surprised if you have over 80% duty cycle. To be honest, this shouldn't be something you need to worry about - your tuner should know all of this stuff. Pump fuel you should be able to run 24psi safely enough. In terms of timing, again, your tuner should be calling the shots there.
  2. with a 1000hp turbo you will not hit full boost (assuming 25+psi) at 4800rpm. you should probably be looking at 280degree cams for that sort of turbo.
  3. it varies a little from car to car depending on your mods, etc. If you have an adjustable boost controller, try 12psi to start with and drop it back a bit at a time until the ECU stops r&ring... I've heard of people running 11 or 12 psi without issue, and then there are people who run 10psi who get r&r..
  4. are you doing the work yourself or not ? If your paying someone to do it, once you have the engine out and open, it might be worth throwing forgies and a set of rods in there.. ($2k) since you're probably going to be paying that much in labour. Put a decent head gasket in there too. in any case, if your not gonna replace parts, get them checked out thoroughly.. i'd say your crank will need machining at the least
  5. oh you were referring to OP not dan.. I thought you were claiming dan's figure of $25k was too high for an 800hp car... spitfires are a slight improvement over standard coils.. if your standard coils are old and breaking down under load, then splitfires will make a big difference.. but in any circumstance, they shouldnt lose you HP.. In the end, like we've suggested, its likely to be something else (dyno calibration, air temp) rather than your actual car... If your tuner is convinced its the cat, drop the exhaust off on the dyno and see if that makes a massive difference.
  6. also to confirm it isn't your exhaust, do what ash normally sugests - drop the exhaust off at the end of the dump pipe.. will make sure its not a restriction in your cat/muffler.
  7. on topic, what about your spark plugs ? Checked them out ? 25hp is a fairly small loss of power.. its possible the dyno is due for a calibration.. or like someone said, the air temp was ~5+ degrees higher.. aging/fouled plugs could also lose some hp.. lots of little things..
  8. "800hp engine including suspension and brakes" I dont think your building an 800hp engine for 15k :>
  9. you do it yourself.. search SAU for AFM +solder you will need a stanley knife, a soldering iron and some silicon if you want to put your afm back together properly.
  10. i dare you to try and drive my car without double clutching and rev matching on the down shifts......
  11. i don't know if i've just been lucky so far or its just cause I avoid the 'hotspots'. I haven't had any problems in either of my skylines so far, and my current one isn't exactly street legal :> I stay away from the spit/BWCP areas and dont go through surfers on fri/sat nights.
  12. well he wont be driving for a while at least.. if we're lucky they will auction off his car too. one less idiot on the road.
  13. sauqld back.. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  14. racist!
  15. - Finish fuel system (~few weeks) - tune for 18psi and 24psi (the week after fuel system is complete) (~600awhp @ 24psi on BP98) - Suspension upgrade (Sway bars, control arms, etc.) (Hopefully before Dan goes on holidays, else after he gets back). - Surge port turbo around the same time. - 6boost exhaust manifold (est. mid '09 or when current one develops cracks) - OS Geiken gearset & input shaft if gearbox plays up Somewhere in there I also need to get a good seat and 4 point harness. *giggles*
  16. His family has a pretty successful business in the construction industry. He manages one of the divisions. Works pretty hard - when i was organizing stuff to buy the car i was calling him at 7, 8pm at night and he was still at the factory. I think you were the one that put up pics of the GT3 he bought? So yea, he has dosh.
  17. -_^
  18. hey dan how did you end up going with that exhaust ? Hope it all worked out !
  19. :> i dont have a beak emoticon on this site Mega thanks to Noel and Dan today. We managed to get a bunch of stuff done on my car.. it is now back to exactly where we were before the engine let go. Driving great ! Noel also managed to burn through his front brake fluid line in the patrol, but a quick trip to repco and some fiddling by dan and it was good as new !
  20. get an Emanige Blue or Ultimate.. Only a tiny bit more than an SAFC and much more tuneable. I believe the Emanage can come with a wiring harness which means 0 installation time ?? Can com someone confirm this ? IF that is the case, the tuner will probably 'install' it for you. If you have to actually wire it up, expect to pay a mechanic $100-150 to put it in. Or you could try and do it yourself if your handy. But im fairly sure they have a harness which is plug and play. Your probably looking @ 2 hours dyno time to tune a Emanage. Expect to pay $150-$200 per hour. Safc only takes 1 hour to tune so its a bit cheaper there again, but you wont have as nice a power curve. power wise, 180rwkw-200rwkw depending on how happy the dyno is enjoy !
  21. ya, twin 51rs your talking about what, 1800 hp ? im sure it would go quick.. for the 200rpm you had on boost just before redline
  22. very nice and tidy. wheels look great ! Price is right too. Gl with the sale !
  23. im doing my PhD in medical image analysis. Also taking a couple of tutes for programming II this semesrter..
  24. i park my 33gtr in parklands most days of the week :> I see the odd skyline in there.. there is a silver 33 gts-t with GTR badges/stickers... im not sure who he is trying to fool.. i picked it for a gts-t as soon as i saw it :> might have to give the BBQ a miss.. too high profile an area for my car.. very keen if you do a tambo cruise again or something. cheers yea its back on the road now.. just finishing off the run in and a few other little things.. hopefully tuning in a few weeks.. will be winding up the boost a bit more.. hopefully hit over 600awhp
