  1. can anyone confirm whether the crown wheel and pinion from the gts4 will fit inside the 33 gtr v-spec A-LSD ?? I have found plenty of people who have swapped them into 32 gtr diffs and 33 gtr but they dont specifically mention if it will go into the A-LSD from the GTR's (although i believe it will). Just looking for a definite answer if anyone has done it before ?
  2. Another couple of quick question continuing on from my thread on gts4 diffs. Upon further reading I have found that the gts4 gears are geared slightly higher than the GTR boxes as well as their diffs: Gear GTR gts4 1st 3.214 3.580 2nd 1.925 2.077 3rd 1.302 1.360 4th 1.000 1 5th 0.752 0.760 Diff: 4.111 4.375 What im wondering is can you take the first three gears out of the gts4 box and put them inside the GTR box ? Or even better, could you just take a single gear (3rd) and swap it in. Would there be any difference in the strength of the gears ? Keep in mind I would probably have all the parts cryo treated before reassembling. Any thoughts on this ?

  4. yea its 500rpm at the top of 3rd.. but only 200rpm down at the 70km/hr range which is where its important. I was thinking of researching the 4.6's from the serena but from what i can gather it was never sold here and might be hard to track down (assuming they would even fit). plus then i would have ford laser and soccer mum people mover parts on my car.. Starts getting rediculous EDIT: turns out the serena was sold here... Might be worth some more research after all.

  7. so i did some hunting around on the uk skylines forums.. The gts4 crown wheel and pinion swap is apparently as easy as it sounds.. and the ratio is 4.375. Does anyone know of any other options for getting an even higher diff ratio ?? 4.5 or 4.6 ?
  8. Quick couple of questions to those in the know. I recall reading about someone who used the crown wheel and pinion from the gts4 diffs and put it inside their GTR diffs. My car is a '97 GTR v-spec and has the A-LSD in the rear with the 4.111 diff ratio. Do the crown wheel and pinion from the gts4 diffs fit straight into the front and rear GTR diffs ? And what is the ratio of the gts4 diffs ? Someone told me 4.3 but they wern't sure. Any other info on this swap ?? Cheers !

I'd be looking for: - boost leaks - exhaust restriction (either in the exhaust itself or the manifold) - intake restriction (check pressure before and after intercooler) if you check those 3 and they are all fine, check for: - boost leaks again. Think about what happens when you have a boost leak. Your turbo starts to spool up and makes some boost, the leak gets worse and air starts escaping. Boost level starts to drop off, your boost controller tries to compensate by keeping the wastegate shut and spinning the turbo faster and faster, but all the extra air is just escaping out the leak, MEANWHILE your turbo is working so hard its actually heating up the air, causing high intake temps and your engine to ping with any timing. Kinda fits the symptoms doesn't it? It could also be an exhaust restriction although that doesnt really explain the issue with the timing but backpressure can do funny things. I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but i'd be examining every inch of piping between your turbo and your plennum.
  10. on topic: if your in SE Queensland, then you have a few big name tuners to consider. I use Gavin Wood @ Autotech, there is Matt Spry @ PITS, Mick O'shea @ Signature Performance and Peter @ ProTorque off the top of my head, all who have tuned big HP cars and work on a variety of ECU's.

  13. im running 620hp through my stock 33 box but dan says i shift like a grandma so its ok Still havent decided if i want to get it cryo treated and stick with it, or if i should go to the OS set (the closer gear ratio's are appealing). Prices seem to rise exponentially when you start looking at gearbox options =\ anyone want to give me the $16k for a hollinger ? Make it 32k so me and mick can both get one July 8th is Paul's next track day - hoping to see both of you guys there !!

  15. Didnt catch you guys there yesterday - you missed out on an awesome day. Rain somehow held off the whole day and the track was pretty much dry by the afternoon session.
  16. im no expert, but i assume it has a short circuit causing it to instantly blow fuses. Will direct a mate to this thread and he might be able to offer some places to check.

  21. can be one of 2 things: - a type of identification card issued by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian after a complete national criminal history check (the "Working with Children Check"). - a card required by construction workers in Queensland.

  25. im in the 6.30 session. we came 4th in div 1 last season so i assume we'll play div1 again this time round. won all our trial matches last night.
