  1. somewhere between your turbos and your engine is an intake leak.. could be BOV's stuck open, could be intercooler piping, could be one of the VAC lines that runs to your boost controller, fuel pressure vac line, etc. etc. start from your turbo's and work your way over to the engine. Might be easier if you remove the front bar.
  2. Both tracks are excellent and have some different things to offer.... dont forget, at lakeside they have a 95db limit.. that rules a lot of the more serious cars out.
  3. that wasn't confusing at all you will have to give me more of your scotch to make me understand i think
  4. Its worth the drive. Use the contact form if you have any questions and he'll get back to you within a day or 2.
  5. Scotch not whiskey. Dan is a Scotch man And yes, he is the best. Is dan, is good.
  6. i think we can put this one to bed lads. The guys involved have gotten over it, lets not spoil what was a really good event with little arguments. I'm sure that the feedback has reached the organizers and their concerns have reached the competitors. For the next event, perhaps both sides can take the others points of view into account and we can reach a happy medium that keeps everyone happy. I would love to get out to MP for some racing and hope that we can see some more events like this in the near future. I'm still cranky at myself that I wasn't there as a competitor, but there will be another oppertunity i'm sure.
  7. in fact, if i remember correctly the tomei 2.8ltr stroker kit calls for an 87.5 mm bore which means you HAVE to have an N1 block to do it. Certainly all of the 3ltr strokers require an N1 block as they use 88mm bores. edit: just checked and tomei provide options for 86.5, 87 and 87.5 mm bores.. presumable they modify the stroke to give the same displacement or just advertise it as an 2.8 ltr when it ranges from 2750cc - 2820cc depending on bore size.
  8. true, but when your boring out any block you need all the strength you can get. The improved water channels in the N1 block allow it to cope with the thinner walls better. You can bore N1 blocks out to 87.5 or 88 mm, whereas standard block can't go any further than 87.
  9. he is already running an 87mm bore. Just needs to change the stroke to 77.7mm by replacing the crank, rods and pistons. Will run fine, but prepare to fork out a fair bit of dosh - all the stroker kits are not cheap. the only shopping part missing is an N1 block which isn't strictly necissary, but if your going to spend $8k or something on a stroker kit, an extra ~$3K on an N1 block is not unreasonable to do.
  10. Thats the only one im afraid, and rego's have to be in on that night.
  11. my 3c. when you start to talk about seriously modded cars, both can be turned into weapons. The difference at the end of the very long modification road is ~100kg vs AWD. And again, both can be made to go around a track very very fast. For me, the AWD wins out over the weight difference as you cannot beat getting on the gas before your even at the apex and just powering out of the corner. Take a 500hp gts-t vs a 500hp gtr and tell a pro driver to go do a lap in them. The GTR is going to come out in front, but not by as much as some would claim.
  12. it does if both are making over 450hp. Unless you are driving around on semi slicks, you will spin the wheels in 1st 2nd and 3rd in a gts-t, whereas a GTR even on plain street tyres will just accelerate. I took the front drive shaft out of mine for tuning purposes, and the back was very very happy to slide in any direction it could as soon as i got on the gas.
  13. we could tell from the bridge that you wern't pushing the 35 too hard russ. Pity the rain didn't stay away cause you looked like you were going a bit faster every lap. Best moment of the day was in the first session mark flinging the 34 between the 2 cars that had just had a bit of a bump in turn 1. Im guessing caution isn't part of his vocabulary
  14. sounds like you answered it yourself. If they had of said "if your back slides even a little bit on corner exits we will give you a warning then kick you out" then they had a reason to speak with mike/mark/russ. As it was, these guys were just trying to get around the circuit as quickly as they could. I am sure they dont want the back sliding any more than you do as its wasted 100th's but we are talking about 500-700hp GTR's not 200hp dattos. Getting that many ponies on the deck aint always that easy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHUChUiw7v4 <-- That is drifting. What the boys were doing on sunday was not. On the up side, the track looked absolutely brilliant and I can't wait to get my car out to a day there. Would love to see more events out at morgan park.
  15. mm, the skill level isn't too high.. I would say weak pennant standard. I was undefeated in singles last season, but I didn't play eveybody. Also team positions are unseeded, so while I was the stronger player in my team, i wasn't always playing against the stronger player in the opposition team (in fact, many times it seemed quite the opposite). The try out day is next monday (20th) so if you want to get a feel for what its like, come along and check it out.
  16. just imagine the time they can gain when they get the 4wd working ! Can't wait to see them at Tsukuba
  17. If I was organized I should have been there competing instead of spectating, but I'm a useless bastard. Was good to meet you Noddy and also Mark & Russ and to see all of you guys in action. Like Noel, I know Mike was not trying to drift that corner - he was out there to try and get around the track as fast as possible. Sorry to see the engine dramas Mike - hopefully its not too bad and she'll be back in action asap.
  18. i play fixtures @ the Qld tennis centre on monday nights. Next season sign on is in 2 weeks on monday the 20th if your interested.
  19. +1 AFM... i think you have your answer. It definitely sounds like its going into limp home mode, so i would re-run that wire that you said is exposed.. perhaps its shorting on something.
  20. stock turbo is only good for about 12 psi before it moves out of its efficiency range.. You can expect around 200kw with 12psi and a full exhaust on top of your current mods. I'd think about replacing your fuel pump soon too just to be on the safe side.
  21. Have recently upgraded to semi-slicks (Federal 595RS-R's) so i have 4 tyres to sell. As the title says, Falken 452's in 265/35/18. All 4 tyres in pretty good condition - still a good amount of tread left(65%-70%). They have seen about 7000kms on the street and a track day and are still in good condition. priced to sell as I have no need for them. $45 each or all 4 for $160. Obviously preference given to someone who wants all 4. Item can be picked up from Brisbane (either from Coorparoo or Alex Hills). Please pm me with any questions/enquiries. Pictures will be up in the next few days hopefully).. they look like a tyre
  22. just out of curiosity.. should stock injectors be at 92% duty cycle at only 255kw ?? I thought they could take just over 300kw before they hit their ceiling ? Have you got a fuel pressure guage on there to check that your not dropping pressure high up in the rev range ?
  23. Dan came up with a pretty good setup for recording track time on my car. Spy pen, zip tie + numberplate ftw. Might not be applicable to race-style events as the camera might get crushed if you were to give the car in front a Duncan-style love tap, but for time attack where you dont have to worry about contact, it's pretty secure. http://www.erd.com.au/ERDR33GTR.wmv the spy pen was like $80 and can do over 5 hours of continuous recording. Plugs straight into pc/laptop and the files are already in avi or wmv format.
  24. hey pave Dan doesn't put his address up on the net. Best bet is to fire him an email ([email protected]) and he'll get back to you within a day or 2. He's located in Alex Hills.
  25. 80psi (5.5 bar) is fine for cold oil pressure
