  1. I suspect a lot of the hoons can drive their car fast for about 1/4 K in a straight line. Get them onto a track where they have to actually drive with some skill and your GT-4 will pass them while their off in the grass....
  2. I know were generally not "economically logical" in the money we dump into our cars, but I reckon putting enought money the the car to have to sell it for $150K is a very losing proposition. for just a bit more (and probably the same after negotiation) http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/NISSAN...es/1429204.aspx
  3. They don't want cars that embarass Ford and Holden as they are the dominant (sales wise) manufacturers in Australia. How bad would it be if a couple of blokes in a car you can't "buy" in Australia won? Where do the sponsorhip dollars come in that case? We live in a country where Ford and Holden make enthuasts car that won't sell anywhere else in the world but the dometic buyer doesn't know any better. They don't want the "walls" to fall down or Ford will have to start bringing in Mustangs and Holden Corvettes. Then how do they make money when Mustangs sell for $25-35 USD and a vette for $50-60 USD in the states when the top of the line Ford and Holden performance cars here sell for $50-60 AUD? To price decent cars comparable the Mustang would have to sell at $120-150 AUD and the Vette in the $200's. Its all about protecting sub-par domestic cars from superior cars like 'lines....
  4. Can you say "old school project car" http://ninemsn.carpoint.com.au/used-car/TO...ia/2161929.aspx or "go racer boy" http://ninemsn.carpoint.com.au/used-car/HO...ia/2123862.aspx
  5. Looking around at repalcement rotors for my car (R33 GTR) I've notice a lot of the aftermarket suppliers (Endless, Project Mu) either don't offer rear rotors for GTRs or only offer them in the least expensive model. Nismo only offers front rotors for example. Any reason why this might be the case?
  6. I was thinking sometime in early March? Guess we need is a good place to start. Someplace everyone from west and south could get to easily. If we got some guys/gals to help from those areas they could meet up and then we could find someplace central (Chatswood, N Sydney) where everyone could meet up and go the rest of the way together. Part two is we need a destination in Palm Beach. The beach would obviously be cool but later in the day parking might be tougher. I've been there a few times buy don't know the landscape that well. I know its a bit of a haul for some of our western and southern friends do we'll have to wire us some entertainment at the destination. I have notice that surfboard don't fit into 'lines very well...
  7. Anyone done any cruises up the Northern Beaches to say Palm Beach? I'd be game to help organize one if there would be interest? Have a meeting point somewhere west and another somewhere near the bridge. Cruise to Palm Beach. Do the beach thing. Head back. Would anyone what to help organize it with me?
  8. Has anyone had an experience with Project Mu rotors and pads? I'm looking at starting to do track days and want to upgrade. The are one option I'm looking at but I haven't heard anyone talk about them. http://www.mackinindustries.com/md/projectmu/projectmu.html Also, does anyone run have experience with Nismo S Tune or R Tune pads? FYI, here are the two options I'm looking at: Item Brand Model Cost Source Greenline $1,406.86 Brake Rotors, Front Project Mu SCR Rotor $435.68 Greenline Brake Rotors, Rear Project Mu SCR Rotor $392.18 Greenline Brake Pads, Front Project Mu HC+ $202.11 Greenline Brake Pads, Rear Project Mu HC+ $185.17 Greenline Braided Brake Lines Nismo $191.73 Greenline UAS $1,720.00 Brake Rotors, Front DBA 4000 $490.00 UAS Brake Rotors, Rear DBA 4000 $490.00 UAS Brake Pads, Front Ferodo DS 2500 $275.00 UAS Brake Pads, Rear Ferodo DS 2500 $170.00 UAS Braided Brake Lines Goodridge $295.00 UAS
  9. I recently switched from a cannon (no name -came with the car) to a Kakimoto Racing. Still flows well but it is much quieter. Has a very throaty sound. My motivation was to get rid of the drone. Never tested the loudness with a db meter. You know it is JDM when the english translation on it is "Kakimoto Racing Produce"
  10. In looking around at the various aftermarket Skyline parts, NISMO seems to have parts competing in many catergories but are typically priced at a premium to other manufacturers. Generally speaking, are they worth the premium because of performance and/or quality or are you just paying for the name? Is NISMO better at making one type of part (say suspension or turbos for example) than another?
  11. Dan, Thanks for doing the good work to get it put together. Nice getting a chance to meet many of you who made it.
  12. Congrats Mate. Learn to drive safe.
  13. The guys did a audio system install for me last weekend and did a great job. Its obvious that these guys are more into the business because they enjoy it that just to make a buck. Highly recommended.
  14. I'm in (me plus my son) R33 GTR
  15. I'm going to talk to the boss and see if we can make it. She's always wanted to go to the Blue Mountains though this might not be what she had in mind.... Stan, you can't be much further than me...
  16. I found the article....Page 55, High Performance Imports magazine. GTR Special Issue #4. Story by Martin Donnon titled "Low 12's for Low Bucks". Keir Wilsons bnr32 on the cover... I can scan the rest of the article (actually quite informative imho) for anyone to have an ...apparently ill informed read of... according to Sewid, by request. Be great to get a copy if you don't mind Franks.
  17. Count me in. Will be a cool start with the group.
  18. It's got stock GTR wheels which look OK.
  19. Stock except exhaust.
  20. Saw a white R34 GT-T in Mosman with Northern Beaches Performance decal on the window on Military road yesterday. Think it was Satanic.
  21. I'm thinking that the spending govenor (aka Wife) will let me drop money for the cost of new wheels ( aprox$2-3K all in) or I could put the same amount into upgrades. Now I have a '95 GTR so the wheels aren't that bad and I could aways live with a stock looking car that might go a bit faster or handle a bit better. For say, $2,500, what would be a good package of performace upgrades? What kind of performance increase could I get?

    Oh Dear...

As mentioned earlier, make sure your insurance is good. I suspect most insurance companies won't honor claims if you're illegal.
  23. It looks like a very resonable car for the low $30's. I recently bought a '95 GTR and I know when I was looking I was willing to pay a slight premium for a car with no mods. I know that might sounds a bit strange to some but my concern was that someone on a very tight budget would have modded the car and cut corners to keep the price down and subsequesnlty not maintained it as well. Most of the cars I saw that fit what I was looking for were at dealers and were running in the high 30's. I ended up getting a car from someone who bot it from a dealer 6 months ago and then then found out how expense insurance, gas, etc. was (he was 21 so insurance was very pricy for him).
  24. Everyone know red car get pulled over more often as well....
  25. Not that you say that, the logic is pretty obvious, as is why all 4 wheel on my car are the same size. Thanks!
