I've been trying to double clutch all the time on the street just to ingrain the habit, but didn't really know if there was a reason to single or double. I've had a couple of ocassion on the track where I've definately upset the balance of the car downshifting without doing it. Spun once. I have a GTR but installed Razo pedals anyway as they are height & width adjustable so it is easier to roll over on them to blip the accelerator.

I've read a few books about driving lately as well as gotten advice from many about improving driving skills. Everyone suggests that a key high performance driving skill is learning to heel-toe on downshifts. What I have seen mixed comments about if you should single or double clutch when you downshift. What do you guys do?

R33 GTR - The R34 GTT is a very nice looking car and performs well. If you want a hot street car it would be a good choice. If you want a performance car, with the exception of drifting, the R33 beats the GTT hands down in every way. It has arguealby the best twin turbo six ever build (RB26DETT), its handling is out of this world between a stiff suspension and Atessa, and lots of other things simply makes the GTR a much better car. Keep in mind though upkeep is not cheap and if it breaks it will cost more to fix.

Let's understand that the police don't have a serious desire to do anything. They simply want to look like they are doing something and to get it on the news. The police need to deal with the root causes but instead they treat the symptoms. It pretty easy to believe there is a speeding problem outside WSID but there is not a street racing problem there. Maybe what they should do is actually try to bust people at real street races or even better, help people understand there is a safe alternative on the track. How much preventive interaction do you see between the police and car clubs? 98% of the people on this forum would dob in a dangerous street race and we clearly don't support it - but instead of engaging and using us to get the message across, they make is less likely people will attend legitimate events. Where was the community outreach booth at the show and shine? If those were my parents that were killed I'd be more than upset at a token meaningless response

Swaybars are the single best enhancement you can do for the handling of your car. They essentially link the sides of your suspension and minimize the body roll, which means your car handle much better through corners. Make sure you buy adjustable swap bars. Adjustable bars allow you to tune in or out understeer/oversteer as required. The incremental cost of adjustable bars over non-adjustable is minimal for what you get in return.

Don't know about the smoke but I would hope I'll do much better than last time. Key will be keeping the clutch intact with lower RPM launches. Thanks to Duncan's secret tech I suspect the GTR will prove itself on the slippery skidpan. On a serious note, Anyone know a cheap and easy way to make sure your H-brake stays button in? Had it lock on one run last year which was not a good thing. Duct Tape?

Dude - its about having fun. You'll grow into that car In my case I'm just not driving the car aggressively enough, missing too many breaking points and to be honest turn 1 scares the shit out of me. I need to learn to brake early enough to hit the apex and accelerate out where I've been breaking too late and floating to the outside and not powering out. Was starting to get turn 2 down better after some good advice from Scathing. Lack of speed limiter was nice as I was getting 235 down the straight.
