  1. Hi, What small box do you mean? Do you have any pictures?
  2. Thanks, I removed the CAT 3 years ago, it's common practice here since (older) JDMs can get away with it. (Removing that CAT actually made a big difference, so why is that stupid?) Also my car was tested for emissions recently and it was all to plan, no complaints. However I am considering getting a high cell count CAT. I am certain that would also solve the noise issue ..
  3. I found this one ... http://www.japspeed.co.uk/Nissan-Skyline-R32-R33-Silenced-Decat/p-0-275/ Maybe worth a try (I'd get it cheaper)
  4. Which muffler did you get?
  5. Just to recap on the topic I installed the exhaust and it is quite loud There's a heavy low rpm drone which is more behind the car than in the car. I got a lot of angry looks from people at bus-stations (if you know what I mean) It's a bit much for city driving, and I will try to get the drone down with one of these mini silencers. I suspect the exhaust is so noisy since I have no CAT installed ...
  6. Ok .. cheers .. I have a genuine Nissan belt, sounds exactly as your car
  7. Hmmm That is odd, how can the belt be loose? I have exactly the same noise as you had, belt done months ago ..
  8. Ok, Thanks .. good point with regards to the Mac Struts.
  9. Hi there, I have a R33 GTST and was told that a strut brace makes a huge difference. (besides I feel the front of car is not as rigid as it could be) There seem to be many different models of braces around, some are adjustable others are not. Is there anything I should be aware of before I buy one? Here are some random examples: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R33-GTST-GTR-1993-1998-POLISHED-FRONT-UPPER-STRUT-BRACE-TIE-BAR-/120805662244?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ASkyline&hash=item1c20941e24 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-STAGEA-RS4V-SKYLINE-R33-RB25DET-ADJ-TOP-STRUTBRACE-JDM-BRACE-/260964502613?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc2b24c55 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/R33-GTR-Strut-Braces-Suspension-Skyline-Drift-Track-GTST-/140781559736?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20c73c1fb8
  10. LOL Not only chicks, I like to hear my turbo and whether the engine is pinging. Also it is nice to listen to the radio. A noisy exhaust doesn't cut it .. nor does a dump-valve
  11. In the UK they mostly state power at the flywheel and in HP. This looks much bigger than RKW, So 498.9FWHP (GOSH) might translate into a more reasonable 300 RKW (rough guestimate) Also what do you guys mean by introducing wasted spark? Why would using other coils change anything to the ignition pattern? Clearly the ignition pulse for the coils remains the same ... (just wondering)
  12. Interesting, I thought I was the only one ever taking these apart. I have an EVC III and EVC IV/ When I opened the solenoid I was surprised about the strange corkscrew mechanism. My EVC had leakage, meaning it would not completely seal off. That was due to the fact that there was dirt on the cone of the corkscrew. After the removal of the dirt the EVC worked fine again. Did anybody ever found merit in the fuzzy logic of this device? Though being an old school EVC, I like the simple and quick operation. Especially LOW-HIGH-Overboost Also it has a nice form factor, which sadly is not easy to be found these days.
  13. Hi there, I am running a HighFlowed OP6 turbine so nothing too exotic. When I bough the car it had a HKS system with no middle silencer. It was a nice sound (for race use), but too noisy for daily use. . I did not like the noise and installed the genuine exhaust system back on. (actually the R34 exhaust, which is slightly bigger) I have the Super Drager here now and I found it quite heavy (I though it was lighter). The inner pipe diameter is 76mm (at the CAT) and about 84mm at the rest of the system. Once I have the missing gaskets and exhaust rubber mounts I will install it. (Not doing Exhaust--Goo) The idiotic seller tied the 2 exhaust pieces together with a cable tie, and wrapped 2 layers of refuse bags around it. That was what he called 'shrink wrap' / good packaging, So it was metal on metal for the transport via UPS. Fortunately the rear muffler took no damage, but I spent some hours restoring the exhaust's condition. Here's the exhaust on an RB25 and the sound seems good: http://www.youtube.c...d&v=QoYNYjrE8Ws http://www.unp.me/f142/performance-upgrades-for-my-skyline-r33-96380/
  14. Would anybody here know what type of gasket I need for the connection of rear muffler to the rest of the system? The gasket seems to have 4 holes for the bolts, but what would be the diameter? I searched E-Bay, but no luck so far.
  15. Great then, the exhaust 'sounds' better with each reply. Now all I have to do is actually buy/win it. I have a Trust downpipe which is 3'' or 3.5'' (?) and a HKS decat pipe which is the same diameter as the Trust. Should be a nice fit ..
  16. Thanks .. Seems like this is the one to go then. Actually I was quite happy with the standard exhaust. Having the cat removed it actually sounds a bit hearty and it is not loud. However I now have a hybrid turbo and it seems the standard exhaust is restricting the engine too much when upping the boost further. Btw. Is the Super Drager 3 inch all the way??
  17. I came across this exhaust: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f1a3811f7 Would anyone know what noise level to expect from this one? I don't want any droning or being unable to listen to music in the car. (that is with no amps installed) Does anyone know how noisy this one is? As an alternative I came across this one: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4845466ac7 But the diameter of the piping (rear end) looks kinda small to me. Basically I am looking for a system which is good for 260-300RKW .. Thanks And I meant NOISY, not NOSIY ... :)
  18. Hi there, The O-Rings are in the mail, so next thing would be installing the new injectors. I have not done this before, so is this reactively straight forward? Also, can the plenum stay in? Any tips appreciated .. Thanks ...
  19. Hi there, As per subject: Do side-feed injectors come with the O-Rings or do I rather have to buy these separately? Thanks ..
  20. Thanks, I was also meaning GTST, not GTS . .. At current I have a HKS-Filter element, not too sure if it is any good. (green foam filter) To see if it makes any difference I should probably remove the element on the dyno to have some figures. I'm at about 250KW at the engine (1BAR) with SMIC , and just mounted a FMIC. Next step would be some boost increase, so just wondering about the filter ...
  21. Would anybody know how restrictive the standard airbox is? I mean if you use a high quality filter element will it be restrictive? I recall that Nismo used the standard airbox for quite high powered cars and from a design standpoint the airbox is quite good (drawing in fresh outside air) Has anyone before/after experience/facts? Thanks
  22. Hmmm, Fair enough, it does not hurt trying (also educational) I am slightly puzzled about the revs now dropping. All what Matt did was disconnecting PIN33 (on the Z32 ECU) and that PIN33 has no connection whatsoever to the fast idle circuit. Something does not add up. If all fails Matt has to undo whatever he did, and you would have to remove the bulb in the dash.
  23. It's not about the input, it's the output (of the Z32 ECU) that makes the light stay on! The Z32 has no EHG sensor, nor does it have an EHG warning light. So if you disconnect the EHG sensor it does do nothing at all (except wasting your time) Again:Are you absolutely sure the revs drop now (after Matt sent back the ECU) when you engage the AC?
  24. I simply assume that your car is a Chuki .. Possibly what many call Spec 1.5 - Nissan Skyline ECR33 (Zenki - 8/93-1/95) Eng: RB25DET - Nissan Skyline ECR33 (Chuki - 1/95-1/96) Eng: RB25DET - Nissan Skyline ECR33 (Kouki - 1/96-5/98) Eng: RB25DET That's why I asked for the colour of the CAS. It would be also good to know if your car uses the R34 AFM, or the S1 one. (Later S2 use the R34 AFM)
