  1. Hi! OK .. that makes sense .. From what I gathered my fuel rail (the new one) should plug right in. My top-feeds one are only about 1cm longer compared to the side feeds. We'll see .. (I will report)
  2. Thanks, that was quite helpful (amd somewhat expected) http://forums.gtrcanada.com/gtrc-ot-pit/48499-tomei-counterfeit-warning.html It's a dodgy world out there ..
  3. Thanks, I found these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tomei-Fuel-pressure-regulator-Gauge-Benzindruckregler-/130538213861?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e64af11e5 seems identical to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SARD-fuel-pressure-adjustable-regulator-RED-GAUGE-/160624021320?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2565f00f48
  4. Hello, I'm going to need a FPR for a new fuel rail. Is there anything specific to look for when buying one? There are many FPR advertised on EBay, SARD, TOMEI, NO NAME .. ??
  5. Hello! I have recently bought (via EBAY) such a kit .. (so top feed conversion) It came with the fuel rail, spacers, nice Bosch injectors, and connector pigtails. The whole kit was about GBP 330 and came from the USA! The fuel rail looks alright too, but I suspect made in China. (?) I have not fitted it yet so I can not tell if it works. You also will need a fuel pressure regulator since the OEM one is attached to the OEM fuel rail. In addition you need to think about a set of fuel hoses/connectors since all the metal piping will be gone when you remov ethe OEM fuel rail (from fuel pump to rail, and return line from regulator) I can upload some pictures .. (once I'm at home again) I am not familiar with the whole mechanics, but why would one need a different plenum to go top feed? Any help appreciated (before I start) (Has anyone done this before??)
  6. Hello! I'm not famliar with these connectors .. How do I disconnect these? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=351213
  7. Hi, Thanks for that - very helpful! As for the FPR .. I have a new fuel rail and need to check if the old FPR does fit .. (I just had a quick check yesterday) Cheers from London ..
  8. Hi there, Thanks for the pictures and advice I have attached a pictures of the hoses, I hope that makes it clearer. (I have a Spec2, so I guess that's why I have these)
  9. Hi! Since you know both system, has the PowerFC a higher resolution? By that I mean on Nistune you have a certain number of 'load-cells (TP on the X-Axis))' is this any different on PowerFC?
  10. That's good information, had I know I would have had less stress .. It was difficult keeping the engine alive and it would not take any load at all.
  11. Good point, I will get these!
  12. Hi, Yes, now that I know it is common it is -> LOL, but yesterday it was -> OMG! I have a Nistune ECU and I was trying a new map ..
  13. It was my first time , and I just recently fitted a new turbo .. So I really thought something massively wrong has happened Obviously I made a mistake while mounting the clamps.. Nonetheless interesting to see that there is actually much pressure at work .. I will have more respect now for the PSI figures!
  14. Ohhh ... I see what you mean! Thanks!!
  15. Here's a short story: Just took the skyline for a quick spin to try a new fuel map. When there was no traffic I floored the pedal a bit more (about 4000rpm) ... The car started to move forward and came on boost - suddenly - BANG! Yes! BANG! OMG! (It was a very loud BANG!!!) What had I done?? (my fuel map wasn't that bad, was it????) I rolled (engine died off) to the left and opened the bonnet, but I could see no damage .. So I started the engine again (and secretly hoping that everything would be fine) , but it ran very, very poorly. Also I could barely keep the revvs over 3000rpm and the engine would die off often. The car made a lot of black smoke and noise either ... A nightmare! In 3rd gear and with a lot of smoke and sweat I made it somehow home. (I was just 3km away anyhow) With a flash-light I checked under the car and could find no oil leakage or obvious damage. Again I opened the bonnet and there it was -> The newly fitted hose joiner had come off .. PHEEEWWWW! Seems it is my lucky day! (Thanks for listening)
  16. Sounds good .. the less parts I have to remove the better While at it I was thinking to mount a fuel pressure regulator as well. Is there anything I have to be aware of? I have not bought one yet, was thinking SARD or Tomei? (dunno if these are Chinese copies though ..) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOMEI-FPR-fuel-pressure-adjustable-regulator-FREE-GAUGE-/160623636990?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2565ea31fe or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SARD-fuel-pressure-adjustable-regulator-RED-GAUGE-/160624021320?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2565f00f48
  17. Hi ... How do I remove the fuel lines (the 2 with the quick fit connector) How does the connector work? (sorry, never seen these before) Also did you use a hammer to remove loosen the big plastic nut? (I would make a tool for this, but don't have the time at the moment ..) Thanks!
  18. Hi there, Just wondering If I want to change the fuel rail+injectors do I have to remove the plenum? Also it seems the plenum is split in the middle (made of 2 parts) so would it be an option to just remove the upper half of it to gain access? Thanks ...
  19. Hi there, Many thanks! Yes, I thought so (I mean that there is a bracket) .. So the cradle just slides on it, and nothing to secure it (like a bolt or clip?) I have a Tomei-Pump which is supposed to be a drop in and forget, so that will be (hopefully) painless. I also need to pull the fuse off the pump and then let the engine idle till the fuel pressure has dropped, right? ?
  20. Hello, Sorry for the plain question, but -> I'm about to replace my fuel pump .. I was wondering how the fuel pump+cradle is actually mounted to the chasis. From looking at the manual it seems there are no bolts that attach the pump assembly to the car (fuel tank) ? It must be secured somehow .. musn't it?
  21. Funny video .. Maybe the airfilter was an el chepo type with no proper mechanical foundation?
  22. You don't have to rewire the firing order ... That was a misconception and has been corrected in the Nistune documentation.
  23. I bought into Nistune since I wanted to have data logging and the ability to map via a connected PC with all the data presented nicely. I do map myself, but if you're not into that kind of stuff you might consider the PFC. Knock detection display is still under development with Nistune, so if you want some flashing lights at knock events you better go for the PFC. Also the Z32 ECU is not directly a plug in .. The ECU printed circuit board has to be slightly changed. So for a tuner the PFC is probably the easier option (as for installation)
  24. I will see how the hose does on the dyno. Maybe another tube might help .. Heat shielding would also be an option .. though the pipe get constant fresh air from the sucktion .. Is there an alternative to the whole setup? (While keeping the airbox?
  25. Hi there, The lower end looked quite rigid to me ... Does it really collapse > 250KW? And if the vacuum is really that high, does't that mean a huge restriction? Cheers from London ..
