  1. How do they know if you've gone over the 90 days? :3
  2. Thanks gais Well I did it... just got back from my run, my fifth day of exercise this week! Gold star for me I was also able to do 6 x 10 push ups compared to 6 x 5 from 3 weeks ago so am very happy with that and even more happy that it pretty much confirms that my muscles aren't wasting away. The last two days I've been feeling like I'm coming down with something gland related, considered skipping today to get well but couldn't resist taking advantage of not having my normal fatigue. Here's hoping I didn't tip the scale. Now I have to think up a new goal
  3. lol... I read the first line. 'Monsoon time in India'. I don't think we'll be getting those conditions here. Like the wikipedia article said, 600cc bikes are more likely to plane because they are lighter plus they have wider tyres. So you should be encouraging him to not buy a 600. Only a 1000 or 250/125.
  4. Supersport is 600cc. Light bike, wide tyre. So this 'dimishing' is only specific to this kind, and probably not by much. You said 'the wider the tyre the worse it makes you in the wet' but it's more about matching the weight to the width of the tyre, like the Wikipedia article states. Most likely the bike won't be the thing to make the major difference in this situation. Learn to control a rear wheel slide and that may save you.
  5. For a tyre to maintain traction it needs to run at a certain temperature, too cold = lack of traction, too hot = increased rate of break down with no increase of traction. The rear tyre disperses heat under the power of the drive train so that it's temperature can remain in this 'sweet spot'. Larger bikes produce more heat and friction therefore needing a bigger tyre. Smaller bikes don't so they don't need a big tyre. This is why front tyres don't differ as much in size, because they are not under pressure from the drive train. You'll find the actual contact patch on the road is quite similar between different tyre sizes, providing the bike's set up correctly. Putting a larger tyre on a small bike would just reduce the overall temperature of the rubber = less traction, stability of the bike, make it heavier and less aerodynamic. So if you're running out of grip it's probably going to be one of the other things I mentioned, not the size of the tyre
  6. Actually... that's not completely true. If you're planing then the width of your tyre won't make a difference. Before you plane the contact patch difference is insignificant between something like a 160 to a 190 tyre. The main factors you should be thinking about is suspension, quality of tyre, pressures and of course the riding. 160
  7. Ooo! How non-conformist! A perpendicularly placed registration label! Looks very nice and clean. The car I mean. Not the label. Have been looking at the current shape of these... but want a convertible and they're 50k more and don't look good with the top on Z4 it is! Braaap!
  8. That's not negative, that's statistics.
  9. So! It's been one month since I started exercising and the initial aim was to work out five days a week. I haven't been able to complete more than four days because of the fatigue so this became my first goal. This week I've already worked out 4 times, even though I'm tired I'm still feeling in control (usually I'm balling my eyes out by 3 days, no joke). So it's looking pretty good. No wait... pretty awesome. Yep. Will see by the end of Sunday ^_^ Just praying that my muscles are actually able to repair themselves and not fading away counter productively *paranoia-paranoia* lol, the pics I had you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Not really the self concious type so would rather have relevant consistent photos for my records as well. Voilà:
  10. lulz.. I think the majority of girls are just lazy :3 How effective is this? I have trouble going slow but generally don't get out of breath when walking my normal ~6km/h. When I was given my initial exercise plan it included 2 hours of walking all at once. So super low intensity but still pretty substantial. I think I could manage a 30 minute walk most mornings of the week as well as my current stuff but would appreciate understanding why and how much it would benefit. These might already be in my vitE+antioxidants mix as there's a heap of stuff in there I haven't gone through. I might see how I go for a few more weeks to see if there's an improvement with the stuff I'm already taking but will definitely look into it. Currently it takes about four full days for my muscles to stop hurting but still making the next session harder than the last.
  11. I probably should have mentioned the supplements I'm on: Daily - 2 x Fishoil 1 x Iron 1 x CoQ10 Enzyme 1 x Vitamin E 1 x Vitamin E+Antioxidant mix 2 x Vitamin C Magnesium as needed Definitely avocado, I know this helps with vitamin E and testosterone levels, nuts are good for vit E as well. I do mix the diet up and add bits around this structure, this is just the basic one I try to stick to. As you can see there is steak (always eye fillet) plus all of the vitamin C rich foods and supplements to absorb the iron... Plus the iron supplements lol @_@ Carbs seem to help me keep off the cravings because it fills me up... Keeps me away from sugars and bad fats - old habits die hard I will definitely look at adding weights and increasing everything once I'm sure I'm improving fatigue wise. My tests showed that my muscles were breaking down faster than they were building (partly due to low testosterone), hence hitting the weights too soon will just be counter productive. Will need to be patient until I'm sure the supplements ai'm taking are working and my testosterone has increased. I haven't posted my initial resistance training but I have increase my push ups from 6 x 5 to 5 x 10 as an example of my progress. So am still improving, just at a slower, lower rate You're right about the fat not being taken off where I want it, although fortunately I don't have much fat in my upper body that I need to lose anyway. Getting rid of as much as I can all over but still being aesthetically pleasing is probably the aim Thanks for the tips ^_^ Thanks I'm gradually getting used to that thought. No matter what happens to the bike I intend to stick to at least some kind of healthy fitness routine for the rest of my life, as long as this fatigue gets sorted!
  12. Thanks man. Yeah you helped in the fact that by seeing your progress over the months it helps me psychologically accept that that's what this will take. Months. Patience is always difficult, but I'm keen to get results and it's awesome that you have. Definitely agree on wanting more chicks to work out. I've almost started preaching to my girl friends even though I'm not there yet lol. More muscle less anorexia! Might chuck up a pic, don't have any relevant ones at the moment. I think the benefit of encouraging me to prove success would outweigh the negative that goes with the fact that I'm a chick on a guys forum posting up pics of myself >.>... and that's about all there is to say about that.
  13. Hey cats, Have been needing to get fit so that I can race motorbikes and win. If I can't get fit I'm not going to bother trying, so here goes. Cheers to Birds for helping structure and also plant an interest in physical fitness for fun, not just because of the sport I'm doing. Also Troy, been lurking your thread and it's inspiring, so thanks. Age: 23 Height: 171cm Weight: 67kg Goal: 60kg, keep from waist up about the same mass just reducing fat and increasing muscle, hips down increase muscle but mainly reduce fat. As per post in 'Post Your Ideal Physique' something like this: or this: Minus the fake boobs. (Sorry guys) Health details: Had Glandular Fever ~6 years ago (only found this out 2 weeks ago) causing fatigue from then till now. Consequently I have very low testosterone, vitamin E, CoEnzyme Q10, Iron and others I will note later that I have been supplementing for ~2 weeks (although not testosterone, have food types to eat and apparently exercising should increase the levels as well). Initially I started exercising in April '11 at 62kg's put on 6kg's in the 5 months of exercise due to exhaustion and cravings causing me to over eat. At the beginning of October and also December stressful events reactivated the fever causing me to cease exercising for this period. Previously I've ridden and competed horses but never exercised so am pretty much starting from scratch. Started again January 9th 2012. Diet: Breakfast - Coffee 2 x Weetbix with milk Lunch - Toasted wholegrain tuna & cheese sandwich Dinner - Steak/Chicken/Fish usually with broccoli/capsicum/vitamin C or orange juice to absorb iron Snacks - Toast, Vitawheats, nuts If I can't eat immediately after an exercise I will usually have a Musashi Protein shake. Current exercise routine: Cardio: Run: Started with 3km run, 1km walk. Now alternating 1km walk 1km run for 7km at a higher pace while running than previous structure. This is from last night: Resistance Training (as of 4/2. Has been increased from beginning but won't bother with previous): 5 x 10 Push Ups 6 x 20 Squats 6 x 10 Supinated lat pull down 80lb 6 x 20 Sit ups Note: Each rep I set as a 'lap' and only have timer going for when I'm actually exercising. Usually take a minutes break in between reps. And this is my history that I will be posting monthly It's a little hard to ask for advice as I have this fatigue to deal with which makes muscle recovery a lot longer and affects me mentally quite a bit, but I'll listen to anything. Just trying to keep motivated
  14. I would like to be this: Hopefully all my lame-o levels perk up soon so I don't keep taking heaps longer to recover than I should
  15. Thanks everyone. Ash can you plug please? Will check out Kathy and research some acu, as long as they allow it to be covered by TAC then I'll try anything and everything... at the same time! (not really)
  16. There are after hour multi day courses available that can be spread apart for convenience. Up to you if you think an extra couple of days will be useful.
  17. You're obviously asking the 'safest way to tan' because the only unsafe thing about tanning is the fact that you might one day die from cancers caused by it, otherwise you wouldn't care. If you were worried about burning only then the answer is sunblock and you wouldn't bother asking the question. Relating to the Aus stats: 1.3% of deaths are due to skin cancer. The deaths that were ranked were about 67% of total deaths that year, this means that by the time you get to the last 33% they are each 1.3% or less of the total deaths. The percentage is so small that asking a forum how to be safe about this would make an insignificant difference. Hence I said check your family history and get your skin checked as it's more likely your skin type that will be the important factor, not the way you actually tan.
  18. Yah, it's amazing how people will freak out to such an extend regarding these things. Most likely even if they were breathalysed, the cops rarely do a full check unless you car looks suspicious. Just glad no one else was in the car or hurt.
  19. Ironic, if the booze bus wasn't there this driver probably would have got home safe. Drink drivers... I really don't understand how people can be so damn stupid. Assuming this driver actually was over the limit, although I don't know how else you would manage to throw yourself into a pole on a straight road.
  20. You obviously don't understand the point I was putting across which is quite simple to see. I'm not going to put in the small effort to explain, as from your above post it looks as though you wouldn't understand even if I spelled it out.
  21. Hey guys, Now that I've started exercising properly again my wrist (fractured+plate due to being hit by a car on my motorcycle years ago) has started getting irritated, to the point where days after exercising my whole arm will be aching. It's been hurting more often just in general so I'm thinking it would be a good idea to get it consistently looked after. Can anyone recommend a good physio in this area? Chuuurs.
  22. Woah. Just had an epic play race from Frankston to Dromana with an E500 Mercedes. Effing respect. Hadn't smiled all day until this happened then I stepped out of my car feeling giddy and giggling, my hands were shaking and my legs felt like jelly. Turns out there's another crazy person who drives a Merc around here, blue moon race came right at the right time.
  23. You will get done for riding on a large bike while on your restrictions if: 1. By chance you are pulled over for a check perhaps for something else and they realise 2. They drive behind you, check the rego and note that the registered owner is not licensed to ride the bike. This can be avoided by getting someone else to register the bike in their name if you can convince them 3. You crash the bike. Insurance won't pay out if you're not licensed and I count that as 'doing yourself' I've know multiple people who have been caught while riding on their restrictions or who have written off bikes while on them Lol exactly, I found the time on my 250 was priceless... Although I think I was a special case. Getting your knee down on the Black Spur on a 250 that is the sloppiest bike in the world isn't what most learners will be doing. I'd recommend just dealing with a less powerful bike for max 15 months. It will do great things for your skills and you don't have to look over your shoulder. Once you're off them it's like it never happened.
  24. Yay this really could turn into an SAU ride I agree with you both, which is why I've been eyeing the full faired... but I really do need to keep it of the track and I know that won't happen with a full faired :3
  25. 3 demerit points and a fine! Used to be 1 point but they upped it a few years ago.
