Disagree with my disagreement?!?! Collected and in control? It depends on who you are but I ride far better now that I have done the track, idiots ride the same on either one. After you've been on the track you are able to appreciate how important cornering speed and position is. If you're a maniac and can't avoid cars, then you definitely shouldn't be on a bike let alone a thousand. That's the only difference between road and track, the speed difference is just a matter of riding according to speed/setting etc. In the case of relying on peak horse power, I putter around on my 600 like it's a car (that's slow btw). You will barely ever get to use your bikes full potential on the road whether it is a 600 or thou. Suspension is changable, it is advisable to have it adjusted according to your height and weight by a professional (SW Racing is awesome for that btw). The extra weight of a 1000 compared to a 600 is about 10kg, barely anything, just gain a few kilos! This extra 10 kilos is also set up with suspension for that extra 10 kilos, making them the same in handling set up in that regard. Again, different set up in the suspension is preffered, not more weight. You will never get the perfect combination you need for weight on your forks and spring if you are relying on a heavy bike. This was my 750 so my 600 would therefore be even lighter and has no trouble with steering through tight corners. Head shake is probably the wrong definition of what was happening, more the steering dropped in or out depening on which way it was favoured, not hard to gas out of but it is easy to lose traction on those bikes (especially when I am so light) around any corner if you hit the throttle to quickly (can happen from frightened response).

Italian bikes are good, and a lot of people swear by them... but I still kick their arses on an 8k Honda V-Twins do sound nice but it depends on what you want... When I rode the 1098 my legs were itching from the massive vibrations after 10 minutes (because of v-twin), and a really poor design flaw they have is you can't full lock the steering without jamming your hand between faring and handlebar, and I have thin hands! Not very friendly on commuters. As for handling when you get to specifics they definitely rule, but you pay the price of course. Might as well get an S1000RR for a lower price and WAAAAAAY more awesome factor. uhu yup yeah, definitely. If they make a baby beamer I'm getting one.

Yeah I'm ok I still have a massive scar and a plate holding my big bone in my arm together. I was wearing full leathers. ATGATT, All the gear all the time. Yeah I have 2 girlfriends that had accidents and they both had deep laserations to their legs... not pretty. Not going to the GOR Cruise.. not actually a member yet couldn't make it anyway, and will join soon!

Akrapovic are the best!!! They make a full system for the GTR as well you know <3 about 9k

I couldn't disagree more, I work in the industry and we sponsor heaps of racers, most of the racers I know enjoy 600's more and are faster on them. It makes a massive difference between 600 and 1000. That power difference can mean a huge speed difference that can define your ride and your accident. Less power means nothing, technique is the key. If I powered out of the head shake the rear tyre would loose traction therefore causing a high side. Backing off usually kept me out of trouble. Having a better handling bike did even better.

haha that's my bike!!! I still have the remaining pieces in my garage (engine, speedo, swing arm and rear wheel. that's all) Was hit head on by a guy that failed to give way at a touchy intersection around the corner from my work in tulla. The bike was 2 months old (my upgrade from a 250 and my pride and joy) and had 3,600 k's on it. K9 GSX-R750. Spent 4 days in hospital getting my left arm operated on, I'll tell you about it, I still laugh at the memory of me running around after it happened screaming for someone to call an ambulance.. hahahahaha O_O 675's are good too, personally I think for anyone who wants to learn to ride well on a road bike with less experience you should go a honda 600. My gixer was really loose in the steering which meant it got close to highsiding a few times when I did tight suburban streets. But I also ride an 06 gixxer thou with a PC and mapping and that thing is INCREDIBLE. But it is $$$ to set up. Best advise I could say is spend a weekend test riding, ride your mates... and make sure you ride for at least 30 mins so that you get to know the bike properly, that's the only way you're going to know what's right for you. Can't wait! (makes me want to go for a ride! )

DO IT. I ride a CBR600RR 06 and it is awesome, love the handling. Cheap to run: yes. Cheap to buy: yes. But you don't buy them when you have a car because they are cheap, you buy one because it's your hobby. I ride mine mainly at track days or social outings with my other mates that ride. I quit the commuting when this happened: Try not to end up with titanium impants ok? My partner was an A grade mx rider and he was better than natural when he hit road bikes, so you will probably kick most peoples arses if you rode dirt a bit. CBR600RR's are awesome and I have a few friends that own the model you are talking about, they love it, and I love mine. Great in handling for sure. If you want to get a pipe for it give me a holla so DO IT... and let me know when you get it, I'll take you to one of our group rides, nothing better then being in a group of 100 bikes

LOOOOOOL. Even if you were .00000001% kidding, I have now forever judged you. LOL
-
Yes please. If SAU built it, they would come Just needs proper advertising. Could have it at Sandown/Calder/Airport.
-
I just threw up a little in my mouth. I can see why you would like it, but Alfa has made faaaarrrr classier cars.
-
Hoorah! vroom!
-
Sounds good. Bec: So is 'Team Wang' a subsidiary of SAU? I saw a Rex with a sticker like your signature and saw the 'Require 2 Balls' (should that be 'Requires'?)... made me laugh. Vroom!
-
haha! I'm sorry!!!! lol... just a tad shy
-
Horah! ps sorry I didn't say goodbye to you both last time.
-
Sounds good!

Sounds like the 16th of this month

That's what I'm talking about... if you're being 'silly' meaning you're going faster than the law tells you to it doesn't mean you're dangerous. If you're drunk with a baby in the back seat... idiocy doesn't even begin to cover that one. I know plenty of people who are skilled enough to driver faster than speed limits safely... I'm sure we all do. Speed makes a difference to the severity but it isn't always the cause.
-
Yes! No logic! They need to find a way to justify these accidents other than "You're a dickhead"... when actually people being idiots is the problem.
-
That sucks! I have a massive plush arm with a claw.... the claw part is pretty dangerous... the plush part not so much
-
Well my explaining with (OO)SKYLINE(OO) was a little difficult... why don't I just drive us there next time?
-
Thanks Halle! That was rad! And I was kidding about the 400 metres... I'm surprised I didn't end up in Bendigo Was good to meet a few more people and was nice having it near my work, am keen for the next one! Here's a few pics:
-
Am currently bludging down the road at my work waiting for the time to come Might go give it a bath in the meantime.
-
Yeeeeah that looks rad, there's another place like that (less fancy) in North Melbourne, for the chauffeurs, fits about 15 cars inside and 10 outside with a 24hour cafe with burgers and coffee and all that. I think they even have a car wash as well (in case you splash your car on the way over ) Could rotate locations
-
heheh... errrr I'd go weekly if I could ... usually 2 nights out on the bike at least so once a month is kinda depriving for me in the car... :3 So I'd vote for fortnightly, but I'll go with monthly if I have to. If we do Thursdays I think we should do earlier and plan pizza, maybe 7pm, otherwise it goes too late. Not sure about Fridays since everyone goes out..

That's around the corner from my work... if I work late I'll be there
