More info for you here Adz: http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t552...cisco-2801.html And as Justin mentioned above, object tracking sounds like what I found above, however i havn't worked on it before: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/1...e/dbackupx.html

justin911 makes a good point - and the main point why traditional interface down detection methods won't work with ADSL. The ADSL line sync (layer2 of the OSI model) will be the main interface that the detection will work on. What you'll find is that most of the time, the PPP layer (layer 3 of the OSI model) will be the one failing, and you'll lose your PPP link - which means no traffic. This PPP fail won't trigger the interface as being down. The default gateway idea is the most logical however not always reliable. I suspect that depending on the routing protocol it might not always detect the ADSL/SHDSL fail and keep pumping out packets to the default gateway with the lowest metric which will result in lost packets and no connectivity. Not having any live cisco equipment I can't say for sure (and I don't work on the equipment on a daily basis anymore) but being a good cisco tech I did some googling and found the following: http://wiki.ittoolbox.com/index.php/Cisco_Failover This is an IOS feature (sla monitor/rtr?) that tests a particular IP address for certain criteria, ie: IP sla monitor 1 type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho your_first_test_ip source-ipaddr your_source_ip timeout 2000 threshold 2000 frequency 3 IP sla monitor schedule 1 life forever start-time now Basically the above will ping a particular IP through a particular interface and make sure it meets the SLA of 'a timeout of no longer than 2000ms' and 'no more than 3 failures in a row' or something to that effect. Look at the website above and the rest of the commands will set up the routes etc. Its a start but I don't know how useful it is - and you're right, it's probably out of your depth - heck its even out of mine and I'm a CCNA/CCDA/VOIP etc. Like i said mate i'm not working on the stuff full time anymore but I can still get my head around most of the stuff. You'll be able to find my ph number. Gimmie a call anytime - don't feel afraid to chuck me a config file either

Yeah, awesome work DAZ!!! Nfi how I got where I was, I think every time Daz beat me I felt i'd fcked up some way Awesome weekend AGAIN everyone - had a ball!
-
Don't worry, for those few who can remember, James got punished for being late when he was at the Strippers Another huge weekend. Being #2 on the running order surely sucks on the skidpan because you never have enough time to watch people and memorise the layout :S So just for the record, Daz whipped my ass left right and centre in his awesome STi Congrats mate Team 'Rex did well, even the mighty Foz representing! I was a busted unit yesterday... and today... urgh. There is only one photo I want to see... and that was Nathan and Al wearing the glasses, fake nose and moustache from the Cactus at Taco Bill Till next time everyone!

I like the idea of this Chilli Eating festival. Can I come to that? Is that just sort of a 'rock up when you want' thing? -
PowerFC Boost Control kit for R32 GTSt
Random Dude replied to Chris32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Which is the wiring harness I need? There are two listed on greenline: 49C-A003 Sensor SOL Harness 5P (For 415-T003 PowerFC) 49C-A004 Sensor Harness 5P-L (For 415-A013 Boost Control Kits) I hardly think the power fc will go bye bye. The plug is common enough (a 3-pin header connector should do the trick if I can find one that fits!) and once I have a photo of one of the Boost Control Kit 5-pin plug (& associated coloured wires) to confirm we should be good to go. If you look at my photo on the left, and your's from the FAQ on the right below: Looking straight at the photos, pin 1 is on the left of my photo, and in yours pin 1 is on the right of the photo. (the orientation of the plug is reversed in the photos) Looking at your photo, it seems right to left: Pin 1: Pres. Sens. Red (Positive) Pin 2: Pres. Sens. Green (Signal) Pin 3: Pres. Sens. Black (Negative) Pin 4: Solin. Red (Positive) Pin 5: Solin. Brown (Negative) So, once I can get someone to take a slightly better picture of the plug, i'm pretty confidant once I get the right plug, i need to use wires 4 (pos) and 5 (neg)! Not worth the $30 + postage IMHO. -
PowerFC Boost Control kit for R32 GTSt
Random Dude replied to Chris32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cheers Paulie. I saw all that... I was hoping that you might have known the 5pin pinouts and not yet updated the FAQ. I looked at the PFC and yes, it is a five pin. So i'm guessing there are two of those wires for the solenoid. I guess if the skylines only have a 3 pin, then you guys wont be able to help much! I'll go on a bit of an investigation, see if someone can tell me what colour pins are what. Once I find out i'll let you know and you can add it to the FAQ! -
PowerFC Boost Control kit for R32 GTSt
Random Dude replied to Chris32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Paulie - i need your PowerFC help on this one!!! I need to hook up my Apexi Boost Solenoid to the power FC. I know it needs to go into the white socket on the side. But I'm going to be cheap and not buy the whole boost kit (the WRX doesn't need it - it has a MAP sensor). I have the boost solenoid but no connectors on it - just the wires clipped off so i'll need to run some extra wires. I saw on your PowerFC doco that the wires are the following: Solenoid Pink = Positive Black = Negative Do you happen to know the matching pinouts for the while socket? I'm going to go down to Jaycar and try and find a plug that will match (hopefully) I need to know which pin numbers this positive and negative connect up to. I'm hoping its a 5pin power fc (so there is just two for solenoid) but I will have to check tomorrow. Hope it's not a problem to fill me in! Cheers, Brenton -

So I Bought A Copy Of This Month's Unique Cars...
Random Dude replied to Random Dude's topic in Victoria
Argh damnit!!!! I searched, i really did! But it seems i searched "Unique Cars", u ppls need to get the name right to stop me looking bad See you all at the Xmas parties! And thanks Juz you shall be hearing from me shortly! -
...and I was interested to see how Unique Cars presented it's "Club of the Month" section as I'm now doing advertising for the WRX Club and I want to make a submission to them to consider... and wasn't I pleasantly surprised when I started flipping through this issue! (Oct 31-Nov27)!! Reading through the index page, firstly I saw there was a great write-up on the 1994 Subaru WRX Rallye edition (yeah, its spelt right!) - featuring one of our WRX club members Daniel Boyle. I went straight away to page 126 - what an excellent read it was. I'd knew that he had offered to help out Unique Cars with the article but I had no idea it was going to be in this issue. Very pleasant surprise indeed. As i'm flicking back and forth through the pages, I turn to page 70 and guess who's golden locks and unmistakable smile bring a smile to my own face - that's right, our very own MissJuz and the article about Juz & Brisby's adventures at Dutton 07! It was a great read, very well written and had some great photos! Unforunatly I wasn't available to come and check it in person this year (i made scruteneering but thats it) due to work so it was nice to see an article that put together all the stories I'd heard from the SAU crew. It's weird reading about people in a major magazine when you go "hey I know them" Well done to all that competed in Dutton and congratulations for making it back in one piece! Justine, you'll be hearing from me shortly as I really want to promote the WRX club a bit more in mainstream media B-man out.
