  1. Dont buy one fresh off the boat, buy one thats had all the problems sorted that has been in the country, not only can you look at it yourself but its likely the longer the owners had it the better off its going to be than something just off the boat in average condition
  2. I was very fortunate not only did my car come over as a good example but without any damage on the undercarriage, unfortunately its the case with alot of 2nd hand cars not just imports this sort of damage can occur.
  3. What sort of modifications are done to the car?
  4. Mine dosen't get going until about 4500rpm, but once its there it really does haul. The only problem being that in any given gear on the street its more or less too quick
  5. Don't drive it. Find where the leak is coming from. If you can't fix it yourself or you're unable to locate the problem, tow it to your mechanic. Cheers
  6. Any photos? If you could shoot an email to morgs at antilag.com thanks.
  7. I believe Danny has since had a full engine rebuild, so would be interesting to hear an update
  8. Should've issued the chop Mona... can't have that sort of behaviour going on! I gave the thumbs up to a silver R33 near North Rocks Rd this evening, no response tho... I was driving a white R32 GTST
  9. Noooooooooo.... hover over.. its a great feature.... anything but cut it
  10. Wow, hell of a colour, looks awesome! Sorry, I just had to comment, my GT-R is a similar colour Best of luck with the sale, certainly a good price!
  11. Could you PM me a price? Many thanks
  12. Sell it if you want to sell it or you have to sell it, if you're only going to spend the money on another car and you still like this one, then I don't see any point really. Rotors have their plus/minus just like anything... very simple in terms of operation and maintenance, just have to do it properly
  13. Its easy to get into the argument where you are comparing variable situations as defined already in this thread. If you want real facts look at the times that people run in these cars. I ran 12.5 sec @ 111-112 mph in a GT-R with standard turbos low boost etc, usual bolt ons. If you can find a STi which runs consistent times like that in street trim then you've got the grounding of fact to say yes, STi is a quick car. Either way there is no doubt the both of them are quick street car. That could be extended to your R33 as well. But as I've already mentioned, don't get a GT-R unless you're prepared to go the long haul with it - parts are expensive and parts often fail especially in the older R32s. If you want a well rounded stock car a STi would be a good performer, but to me it sounds like you're happy with your R33.
  14. Rotors are reliable, no doubt about it.... if they are set up properly. I.e. a properly built motor, with the appropriate support systems (Fuel, cooling) and TUNING (most essential !! ) Myself and my girlfriend have had 4 rotors between us in a couple of years among them some pretty big HP. The bottom line is if they ping they will not last; they don't have the sort of tolerance for detonation that a piston engine does.
  15. Birty I do agree with you to a point - but as of late in Australia there has been some very negative publicity about Skylines - which does indicate that there are infact dickheads driving Skylines who think they're the best car in the universe and they are the next Jim Richards in their R33 GTST with GTR badges. Duncan has a valid point, they are too porky for a track car - in STANDARD trim, but then again, I would suggest to you a standard GT-R Skyline is far from a track car in standard form also...
  16. Driven them both and loved it. Would like to place an order for a HSV coupe in purple but I don't think the boss will like that
  17. Leakdown and compression test to make sure the motor is ok. N1 oil and water pumps. Then do the basic bolt ons then go for the turbos/fuel/ecu in one hit.
  18. Make sure you've got a large budget if you consider buying a GTR.
  19. Yes not the first, or second, or third person he shafted
  20. At this stage I'm not sure, considering taking this oppurtunity to get out of the game for a while, as I've owned the car for a year or so and only done 5000-6000km in it its hard to justify how much money I spend on it. Have got a few options but might have to deny the dream path of glory
  21. Boosted RB26 is unfortunately correct, oil pump failure at high RPM without any sort of prior warning. Unknown condition of motor at this stage it sitting out of the car. Shame too because it was in great condition 160psi across the board.
  22. Stock pistons are fine Stock oil pump is an absolute disaster area Stock injectors well ive got 550cc oh wait lets not go there
  23. 253rwkw @ 1 bar, any more is a bit much for stock ceramic turbs
