  1. Another little trick I've picked up from experience is to recycle the old oil cooler from the Hicas if you've removed it. After it's out of the reg run it through the factory power streer cooler and back to tank. It's neat, costs nothing and works enough to make a difference.
  2. Thanks for the help. Problem found and fixed. It was the old AFM wiring that in my haste i didn't sercure well enough and it had shorted on the body. Wacked a new fuse in him and started first crank. Dropped the run in oil and filter. Chucked in some fresh Kendall oil and ventured out for a bit of a road tune tonight to clean up a bit of untidyness and gave it a few mild runs through 2nd and 3rd with 1 bar of boost. Found it to be a very linier power delivery that i think will benifit from some cam timing adjustment. Probably back on the Dyno tomorrow to play with that and start looking at towards some more boost. I think it's about time i sent out a big thanks to Paul at X-treme Motorsport here in Townsville for looking after the tune and keeping an eye on what I was doing throughout this project. With out his help I would never have got this far.
  3. That's cool that your coming up Ben. Should be a fun weekend. Have a few beers at least anyway. They have added another 2 stages now so we'll get a few extra runs up the mountin aswell. You woulda been right with the front mount mate. I don't think there would have been a problem. It's all a bit social up this way. Another lad from here had planned to run his 32 GTS-t but couldn't get rego sorted in time. Anyway, be good to meet ya. Coop
  4. Just a little update on the progress. We stuck a run in tune in it on the dyno saturday and had no problems. All was good. After a couple of hours of tuning and just basicly running it on the rollers we ramped it a few times with only actuator pressure of 12 pound and made 302. something kwatw. We took it out for a sunday drive and had a drama of which I have never encounted and am completely out of my depth with. Crusing along at 95 or so in 5th it has 2 sudden missfires than ran ok for a second then stopped completely. I pulled over and the ECU has no power. I check the fuse in the engine bay and it has blown. I take the one out of the electric windows and it pops that one befor even lighting up the hand controller. After checking everything for anything obvious I steal the ABS fuse and tried it with the hand controller un pluged and pops another one. I've run outta fuses so I call a tow truck. As I'm completely hopeless with anything electrical does anyone have any ideas? Help Please
  5. I think I had the worlds biggest sigh of relief this afternoon. The Skyline started first turn, settled to a nice idle and was sitting at 4bar of oil pressure at idle. No leaks. No dramas. Early days yet but at least everything is looking good at the moment. We called it a day and backed it up on the dyno to give it a run in tune tomorrow morning. Sounded really crisp with a slight cam lump and a throaty exhaust note from my dodgied up cut and shut 87mm with new center muffler.
  6. Yes Darren for sure i'd be interested. I was looking into the Aim and haltec stuff earlier and it was going to cost mega dollars to make it work as a stand alown unit as i wasn't yet ready to let go of the trusty Power FC. I searched a little deeper but gave up and just bought a defi controller and a couple of important guages to get me started and thought it'd be something to look into later as my main goal of late is to get this thing ready for a tarmac rally here in townsville in 4 weeks time. If you could pm me some info that would be appreicated. Probably can't act on it right now but definatly in the nearish future. Andrew sorry to make you faint but nah no amp just 2 little speakers in the bottom of the doors. But rest assured that will all come out when we get a little more serious about things.
  7. Yeah definatly will. Thanks. Although i'd love to take the credit for it's design, it's been almost completely plagiarisied from a well known r32 from the Berry/Newman stable. Another little bit of alloy plate found it's way into the dash aswell over the weekend. Just a defi advance 52mm oil temp and the controll unit in there at this point. There's an oil presure guage under the cluster shroud thats covering the factory oil presure gauge to. The 52 mm is a nice fit there and lets you still see the tac and stock temp guage. Obvoiusly there are still 2 holes to fill but will fill them when I have some more cash. probably exhaust and water temp. Also left a tab out the side to valcro the d-jetro hand controller to.
  8. Yeah definatly want to come down to QR and have a play and meet some of you guys Not sure what it's gonna weigh yet. It was 1460 as pretty standard road car but I have made a couple of attempts to make it lighter but with the cage and extra stuff that i've put in I'll be happy if it isn't heavier than that now.....for the moment. Had a drama trying to tighten the fuel fittings onto the underside of the boot floor due to the tank and cradle get in the way. So had a think and came up with cutting a hole and making a plate to go over it out of alli. This way i can tighten all the fittings from inside the boot, then bolt the plate back down to the floor. Hour Later I'd made this. Problem solved. Looks a bit nicer to. Shiney and stuff.
  9. Not much left to do now. Still waiting on a couple of small items to arrive but almost done to a point where we can start and tune it. Some nomex kevlar -16 hose is all I need to finish plumbing the dry sump. Tried everywhere today for some but looks like i'll be ordering it in on monday. New OMP race seat arrived and have borrowed another Sparco for the passenger side till i can afford the other OMP to match. Also battery isolater mounted up in the center console, battery all boxed and clamped in place on the back passenger floor where the rear seats used to be. Isolator also has the remote pull cable to isolate the battery from outside. Finished everything in the engine bay now except for the breather line from the oil pump header tank to the breather/catch tank, Line from pump to header tank (-16), some silicone hose to mount the air filters and box them somehow to keep the heat out. There's a couple of grand worth of speedflow fittings in there now, an ARC coolant airation kit; peterson breather tank Magnafuel reg and a heap of other goodies since the last pics. Also spent today finishing the fuel system. Painted the inside of the boot last night and fitted everything today. I thought the bulk head fittings through the floor were nicer than just a hole and I'm happy enough with the way it turned out. Carter Lift pump and SX performance 1000hp spec pump should be adiquate at this point i think. Hopefully, with some luck, next week I should have some dyno results to post up. Until then here's some progress pics.
  10. Wow Andrew. Sensational. I only came across your thread today and am really liking what you've done so far. Your attention to detail really makes me feel I should've spent a little more time on some aspects of my own 32 build. Seems to make all the difference. I love what you did with the cage and attaching it to the bar under the dash. That's exactly what I should have done to get the front stays closer to the pillers but didn't click untill it was all bent and welded in. Your thoughts on brake and suspension gear is also very close to what I have planed when required funds become available. Again, nice work. Coop
  11. I guess with seperate inlets you could use the second stage for different oil but most I've come accross use it as a powersteering oil cooler as Gts30t has done. I might just try to put a cooler in the return line and see how that goes. I only really did it to see if it could've been done and I had some spare time at work and a spare pump to play with. Thanks for the positive comments as it's been a fir bit of time put into it of late. I'll try get some pics up of the finished engine bay and interior shortly.
  12. Ok time for an update. There's not alot left to do now. I had to take some pics for its CAMS rally car log book so we pushed it out of the shed and gave it a tub. The dry sump is all plumbed up with the exception of a few fittings that needed to be back ordered from SpeedFlow and all that remains is a bit of electrical work for fuel pumps and map sensors, run some fuel lines and give it all a general tidy up and with any luck we should see it on the dyno in the next couple of weeks. Here's some pics. Let me know what ya reckon.
  13. G'day, Could you please let us know what you have in 255/40/17s in a semi slick with a harder compound for the heat up hear. 888s or re55s or whatever you have. Need 4 of delivered to Townsville 4810. Thanks Coop
  14. Just like to thank GIANT for sending us an Intention to Enter in for the Mt Stuart Tarmak rally in Townsville. Thanks for the support Russ. We now have received 14 intentions from Cairns to Canberra and every thing is starting to fall into place for the 3rd annual event. Also if anyone needs cars transported to townsville from Brisbane or anywhere in between we have struck up a deal with Coastline car carrying for entrants in the Event. Details can be found at Townsville City Autosports Club.
  15. Thanks Guys. I'll let you know if it works. Russ, I wasn't sure about the pump being interchangable with the 33 as I thought the balancers were different. Maybe just the pullies then? More so just an excersize of my own with a bit of spare time at work to see if it could've been done. There's been a bit of action in the shed of late but work comitments have slowed progress a bit all i have is a couple of the pics of the areo catches installed. Used some of Marlin's pics as a how to and got it done. Thanks Ben. Also, the rest of the fuel system, airation tank and a couple of defi advance guages showed up so a bit to do over the comming week to install them. Note. ARC airation tank kits for r32s only fit r32s with standard radiators and standard intercooler piping. Mods required.
  16. Just like everyone else does with HICAS, I had ditched it, except for the duel set up on the power steering pump. So i pulled it apart and removed the impeller and fitted a banjo blank. But looking at it while it was apart i think I have developed a better and neater way. I spent a few hours on the lathe and milling machine today and came up with this. It's the factory set up but with the Hicas pump removed completly. I shortened the internal shaft, Machined new bearing surfaces, milled the rear cover to fit in the mounting, Modified the T piece to a single entry, Installed a new bearing and shorter bolts effectivly halfing the physical size and weight of the unit and it now looks far neater overall. here's some pics of todays handy work and also 1 of the blow off valve fitted up.
  17. bonet latch ac fan engine fan I have these.......Pm me an offer Also have condenser and reciver.
  18. Thanks for the encouragement Cam. Be good to see you up this way to. Got the intercooler piping made up during the week. Turned out really well i think. Still need to find clamps and 1 more silicon hose. Kinda shit photos cause the sun was so bright but gives an idea. Got it made out of alluminum instead of stainless to match the rest of the GReddy kit and for better heat dispersion.
  19. Thanks Guys Did you find a buyer for your OS box Andrew? It was teasing me everytime I saw you sig and now it's gone.
  20. Accusump came from a local cheapa auto spares who deal with presision industries who import the canton products. I found canton from googling accusump and worked backwards to find a oz dealer. It is a good idea but obviously not required with the dry sump. Dropped the car off at a local custom shop to have the intercooler piping made today to match the ARC twin entry intercooler. I'm still using most of the greddy pipe kit except for the Y piece. Engine now only needs a breather tank, air filters, the injectors, fuel rail, reg and Bov fitted and is all done under the bonnet. Also thinking about getting an ARC coolant bubbler set up. Has anyone had any experience with them or other air removal tanks that they can share??? Then back to the boot to finish the fuel system. Also got a windscreen fitted last week. Latest Pics
  21. For anyone that's interested the edited and approved Sup regs and Intention to enter forms for the 3rd annual Mt Stuart Rally Sprint in Townsville on the Queens birthday long weekend are up on our web site. Townsville City Autosports Club. Probably the biggest change is lience requirement has been changed from National rally to Clubman rally. Hope to see some of you there.
  22. Paul, are there 2 different trims of the GTR-s kit? Or did you bolt on 2 SR20 spec ones? When I bought mine they were advertised as a 700ps kit for Rb26. Thanks
  23. I haven't actually drivin it yet. Still building it. Gotta be a good thing but cause it elimimates a variable is how i look at it. Alls i did was buy a hicas lock bar from Just jap and made this little bush and chucked the rest in the bin.
  24. Awesome. That looks the goods Ben. I'll probably have to mount mine a little wider as the new radiator support comes out a bit past where you have mounted yours. but I'll be using your stepped plate idea for sure. Take care of you fingers bud. I did something similar cutting out the hole for the oil header tank. probably why Grinders have guards but they just get in the way. Haha.
