  1. Do we know how those cars were driven? Do we know how many times L/C was used? Do we know how many times Nissan believes L/C can be used before voiding the warranty? No we don't, so we're all jumping to conclusions without knowing all of the facts. The fact of the matter is that this is still a brand new model and nearly all new models have quality issues and problems. This means that there may very well be certain issues that are yet to be worked out at the production level including issues with the gearbox. For all we know those particular gearboxes may have just been a small batch of duds. So lets not jump to any conclusions and instantly start defending Nissan and the GTR when it might actually have some defective parts. The question is why isn't Nissan fixing the gearboxes under the warranty?
  2. The main point isn't that the gearbox is breaking, it's that Nissan isn't covering repairs under quite a few instances now when it seems that there may be a manufacturing fault meaning Nissan may be partially if not overwhelmingly at fault.
  3. That'd suck. All I know is that this seems like it may be a manufacturing fault. What's the point of building a car with L/C if the tranny can't cope with it? Either don't include the launch control or strengthen the tranny. It could simply be that the first batch of cars have a problem that has yet to be rectified.
  4. I don't doubt the performance; what I doubt is the power claim Nissan is making. Some Dyno graphs in the US by a magazine or two suggest the car is making 500-510 BHP, maybe more. This wouldn't be the first time Nissan has lied about power figures of course; who can forget the '206kW' R34 N1 which ran a mid 12 quarter mile when Wheels magazine tested it a couple of years ago?
  5. the other question is whether or not the car porsche bought still had the speed limiter. if the car was restricted to 180kph then clearly it would be slower compared to the same car without the speed limiter. I'm certain the GTR hit speeds over 180kph when being tested... having said that I still don't believe the car can do 7:29 with only 480BHP. That's just too fast, i don't care what anyone says. I believe nissan is lying about power output, and it wouldn't be the first time :-/
  6. They're limited to 180 Kph so the media can't claim 300 Kph ;-)
  7. Ok, just an update, I'd be more than happy to purchase a PAIR. While I only need to replace one rim, i'm willing to buy a pair of anyone who is willing to sell me a pair.
  8. I found this on google: http://www.pcv.com.au/PorscheClubs/pc_vict...12570E40064197F
  9. It should be clear as day that its only minor panel damage... Damn that's a massive hit, looks like the owner is lucky to be alive.
  10. +1, that sounds a little odd to leave the car behind if thats what they were after. It seems that the owner of the car was the target and the group just needed an excuse to meet up with him. For all we know the owner of the RX-8 may be a jack-ass who had this coming for one of several reasons... I can't really make an educated analysis without knowing who the owner of the RX-8 was and whether or not he has some questionable characteristics...
  11. bump. come on guys, someone has to have one for sale. Just to clarify, I only need a single rim, not the set of four.

  13. Bump, someone's got to have one for sale somewhere. I'll be happy to pay for shipping from interstate.
  14. Hey guys, I'm looking for a single R33 GTR alloy wheel. I'm located in melbourne. Send me a PM or a txt or 0433 236 389 so we can work something out.
  15. yeah i thought I'd be a smart arse as I'd just been watching the 'best driving road' top gear episode. To answer the original question 335i, 997 GT3 and R35 GTR (all up around 490K if 335i and GT3 are purchased second hand). EDIT: I just want to add that if I won 500K in the lotto i wouldn't spend it all on cars :-)
  16. Um, you can fit three people into the passenger seat if you fold them neatly can't you? And at only $489,243 i'll have enough change left over for one tank of petrol! http://www.drive.com.au/buy/new/car_featur...mp;SG=878308732
  17. Where are my royalties?
  18. First let me say that I have a R33 GTR not an R34; but until last month I drove my GTR daily and thoroughly enjoyed it; however now that i only drive it once or twice a week i've realised several things: -they're a pain in the ass during traffic and are uncomfortable over long drives (can't believe how much the seats cause my back to sweat, and the lack of airflow in the cabin under 100Kmh with the windows fully down is an absolute joke). -seeing as the cabin tends to be quite hot you have to put the windows down in most circumstances, and in an R33 the design of the roof means any water sitting on top of your car will end up on your shoulder and legs as soon as you take any sort of corner. -the unwanted attention and constant risk of theft and/or break in makes it impracticle to use all of the time, as you're running an increased risk of having your pride and joy damaged. -the relentless baiting from hoons in their V8's, 4cyl Turbos, etc to constantly try and get you to race them at nearly every set of lights. having said that, i love my car and I think a GTR is a fantastic drivers car. I am willing to put up with all of the negatives of the car because it is so fun to own and drive. Because mine is basically standard, insurance is quite cheap considering what car it is, and maintenance is also quite reasonable. comparing the car to a 1996 ford or holden makes it clear how much better the quality of the GTR is.
  19. Thanks guys, its all been sorted out thanks to erwin skyline.
  20. Well, some prick broke into my car, so I'm in need of a driver's side window. Its for an 1996 R33 GTR. PM me or give me a ring on 0433 236 389. Cheers, Ray.

You want to know the best way to avoid being caught next time? Try not to speed next time...

    Z06 Vs R35

Just to add to that, the Z06 doesn't just go toe to toe with the GTR in a straight line, it would be much faster; especially at higher speeds. Thats the difference that a couple of hundred kilos weights difference makes. FWIW, i saw a blue C6 (non-Z) on the chandler highway the other day, looked absolutely gorgeous!!!
  23. I agree its ugly, and I've already made my opinion known that its not worth $150K, but I'd still like to take one for a drive (though I'd take an R35 GTR over the W427 any day). Still, you can't argue with 373Kw and 640Nm and I appreciate the car for what it is.
  24. whats the deal with that aussie speeding fines website?
  25. Here's a video of a first drive by Drive.com.au; sounds awesome under full throttle. This thing would be a nice drive! http://media.drive.com.au/?rid=39832
