  1. Some excellent points in there. It would be a damn shame if Nissan Aus didn't pass on any possible discounts resulting from the increased strength of the AUD. While 150K may initially seem reasonable for an 11 second supercar; at current conversion rates 8.5M (and I'm being a little generous on the before tax price of GTR's in Japan) yen will be around $AUD90K. Other than profiteering, I can't see why Nissan Australia shouldn't sell the car for a price thats closer to 120K than 150K. They should even be able to sell it for less than 120K and still make a margin. So really, by the time you factor in the costs of ADR compliance, import duties and all other costs involved with selling an imported car (can anyone tell us what are the different costs usually involved with selling a car like the GTR in Australia is?) there's no reason we should be paying more than 130K - 135K at the MOST.
  2. Thats because they had a hard time selling it when they DID sell it locally.
  3. Damn thats cheap. What's your excess? I paid around $1580 with Shannons and the excess is $900. F'in cheap if I ever have to make a claim.
  4. I don't think it would be difficult to make a car that looks better than the R35 GTR. Its exterior is questionable at best, but its growing on me. Thankfully the performance more than makes up for the looks.
  5. I concur. Definately +1 for the Z06 comparison.
  6. For everyone complaining about the fuel consumption on these 8's; do you guys think the new GTR will be much more efficient? I doubt it. If you want performance and big power you need lots of petrol.
  7. Very sad news. The man created some great cars. RIP Boyd.
  8. The VE shape lends itself well to the coupe design. I think it looks good. Have you guys seen the LS7 sedan HSV made? http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...ArticleID=49261
  9. +1. You can't post a picture THAT small of THAT engine bay.
  10. turbo + v8 = best compromise between the 2 options. I'd love to see what a turbocharged lexus v8 would be like in a skyline chassis. Or just go bigger capacity 6 like a 26/30 hybrid.
  11. Clarkson loved all all the old Godzillas. There is no reason why the R35 should be any different. Its faster, built better, handles better, light years ahead in technology and is priced similiarly (taking inflation into account).
  12. Lets face it, as far as Nissans go the GTR badge will always be associated with the Skyline brand.
  13. I'm not so sure about the exterior, but the interior looks like a nice design. And the G6E looks like it might be the pick of the bunch; performance AND comfort/luxury.
  14. The m3 is nicer than the CLK. I'd imagine they'd be tough to sell in Australia though, with the local imports and all.
  15. I've just paid the rego so its registered until April 2009.
  16. The first priority is to speak with my lawyer. I don't have and previous offences; I don't drive like a hoon (I was recently asked by my brother in law if i ever rev past 3000rpm). Unfortunately I was in shock when the police officer came to the accident and i told him i was racing the car in the right lane - which i wasn't; i was just trying to do an overtaking maneuver (like i said; i drive like a granny and have never had any previous offences). But you try saying that when you've just had your life flash in front of your eyes. So thats it; there were no witnesses; the cop didn't see anything but i implicitly incriminated myself with the impromptu 'interview' i had with the cop after the accident.
  17. The limit was 70 and i was doing around 80; so I was only 10 Km's over the limit (I was overtaking someone at the time on Kingsbury drive Bundoora where the 3 lanes converge into 1 and got clipped from the rear and subsequently losst control and hit a pole). The other motorist drove off and i didn't get any of his details. What a bastard the other motorist was, i could have been killed and someone else was at fault and I get all the blame. You would be correct. For the record, this incident happened in June 2007; so its not recent; and i wasn't hooning at the time; i was overtaking and was clipped from the rear left. Its just taken this long to get the summons. Sucks either way, but thats what i get for being an idiot - the irony is that the police officer didn't witness the accident, everything is based on what i told him after they were called by a passing motorist.
  18. I just received a summons for dangerous driving, careless driving and racing. I'm not after any lectures, the constable didn't witness anything and no one was hurt except me; its a long story (albeit it futile, i'm the idiot for breaking the law in the first place). What penalties do these charges bring?
  19. Price drop, $25,000. p.s. I'm not interested in swaps or trades at this point in time.
  20. Judging by how tightly i fit into the R33 GTR seats; i'd have to say that the r32-r34 models must have been designed with smaller/narrower people in mind.
  21. If anything, the GTR MAY come close to matching the time of the LP640; but i still find it difficult to see how it will beat the time of anything faster than that. Those cars might be RWD, but they weren't exactly struggling for traction when driven by the Stig (if i remember correctly).
  22. There's no way it will make the top 10. These aren't your 'everyday supercars'; they're hyper cars. I love GTR's as much as the next guy, but basically every car in the top 10 is in another league.
  23. That Ascari A10 broke the lap record around the Top Gear test track. It looks pretty sweet.
  24. Yeah I can see that; but from a performance point of view it would be almost impossible to not get wheel spin in almost every gear. Still, one brag that their car has 1800HP.
  25. Why would you want 1800HP in a RWD? How could you possibly make any use of it?
