Some advice would be to stop your cutting, and start putting on some more muscle. You'll just end up skinny fat if you keep dieting atm. If you eat clean and train hard, you'll not only gain muscle but you'll lean up as you go, a lot more than you are now. If you really are an ectomorph, you shouldn't have to diet.

165 snatch and a 185 clean?? is that correct? Usually there is a 35-40kg difference, must be super good at snatching. Either way, great lifting. Good to see him still at it.

Just thought it would be good to start a thread on weightlifting, otherwise known as olympic lifting. I know down at PTC they do a little bit of it, how much i am not too sure. Markos would be the best on that one. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for it, and lately it's the only thing that interests me, so i'm just focusing on it atm. I've trained at a couple of weightlifting gyms and the weights these guys are not only cleaning, but putting overhead is awesome. Plus they can squat BIG weights, and could probably deadlift a fair bit if they did deadlifts. So, who does a bit of it, do you focus on it or is it something on the side? What weights are we cleaning, jerking, and snatching? What assistance exercises are you doing for the lifts? Or even if anyone wants advice on weightlifting? I don't expect anyone to just do cleans and snatches, but i believe if your not doing them you are really missing out on some real explosive strength which would transfer to all your other lifts.

I know, that's why i never squat with spotters or a rack. I guess if you can't drop the weights then use a rack i guess. Spotters are useless imo for squatting when training
-
I hate squatting in a cage, everything is so close and i get a bit claustrophobic. Outside is fine, it shouldn't be that often that you are failing on a squat in training anyway
-
let go of the bar and move forward. Maybe easier with a high bar upright squat but unless you are good morning the squat for some reason it's easy to do with a low bar squat too
-
the best technique in heavy squatting is to have no spotter behind you, and if you fail you just throw the bar behind you. It's the safest and easiest, and means you don't need a power rack or a spotter to squat to failure.

they are simple carbs and if you look on the label it will tell you how much of those carbs are sugar

good to see the raw deads smash the equipped, and also the raw benching is great!

Pretty much spot on. Weightlifting is the only thing I'm really enjoying at the moment so I'll try to capitalise on that while i can. We have a good gym at work, i'll still bench there and do a few other things, but at least i can really work on the basics at home. Once i c&j over 140 i might go back to powerlifting

the start of my new setup at home. I have 250kg to start with, will have to add to that hopefully.

A statement to police, you've got to be joking. I was talking about fruit, you know, what you buy at a fruit shop. Seriously, if you guys wanted to act like retards, then you'll be treated like retards. F this i'm out

No one said that mate. You can interpret comments however you will, no matter how ridiculous your deductions are.

my second point is that this is a forum, you have time to think about what you want to say, research it, even edit it after you say it. So it's not a real conversation. Therefore, take the time, and say what you really mean to say, instead of going back and forth and confusing the f out of me

This is my point jangles: If a calorie is a calorie, and a carb is a carb, then i can eat ice-cream all day everyday and it wouldn't be different to eating oats, eggs etc etc. However we all know this is not true, therefore a calorie is not a calorie, and a carb is not carb, doesn't matter whether it is in drink form, solid form or whatever else.
-
You said a carb is a carb. Why would i have to be smart about it if a carb is a carb. You said it won't matter where my macro targets come from. That means i can get all my protein from shakes, and all my carbs from sugar, and all my fat from drinking oil. And you said fruit is JUST a ball of sugar. I pointed out it wasn't JUST a ball of sugar. And i'm pretty sure a pack of sugar doesn't come from the ground. Go eat a sugar cane and you will be getting a lot more water and fibre than sugar.
-
A carb is not a carb. A sugar drink is not the same as a bowl of oats. 1000 calories of big m is not the same as 1000 calories of steak. Your body utilises proteins different to sugars, and fats different to either also. I mean, that's pure basics. Why do you take a protein shake after a workout and not a tub of lard??? It's common sense, your body uses different macro's for different things. And fruit is not a ball of sugar. It's natural, comes from the ground, is full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fibre and is just down right good for you. A healthy body is a happy body, and a happy body is ALOT easier to work with.

woah, you guys are getting too far into this 'in my personal opinion', or more so, over complicating it. I just put food into 3 groups. Good food, okay food, bad food. Good food - fruit(eat it all day), steak, chicken, veggies, eggs etc Okay food - bread, rice pasta, weetbix, yoghurt etc Bad food - ice-cream, pizza, maccas, chips etc etc So eat as much good food as you want when you want. Eat the okay food when you want, just depends on goals and most importantly body type. Bad foods, eat at own risk. With my body type i eat this shit everyday, but i know i can, so i don't care. None of us are competing bodybuilders, no need to overcomplicate things. Remember this is my opinion
-
yeah i was shit, i think my max ever was like 120 ha ah, i reckon i could push out 130-135 for a single atm. Cant DL for shit anymore, concentrating on weightlifting now so pretty much just squatting and overhead stuff. Would be fun though, no way i could get back under 80 though

hmmm need to see if i can make this

Most of the bodybuilders that lift big numbers started out powerlifting i.e. ronnie coleman, johnnie jackson, franco columbo, even old arnold was weightlifting and powerlifting before he went into bodybuilding. And this is only a small handful
