  1. Heh, I suppose it's just a shocking comparison compared to my old car lol I have gone from a 2005 Hyundai Getz which does 500km to a 40L tank even when the boot is in (you cant tell when that happens anyway) to an R32 skyline which does 400k on 20L more lol I suppose you just have to pay for power.
  2. There are some impressive numbers here. I'm going to be in the market for one of these turbo's, I can already smell the hole burning in my pocket.. What kind of cash is required for one of these turbo's? Do I source my own and have work done or do I straight up buy it fully machined? Also someone mentioned that their fuel economy was 250km on a full tank with a heavy right foot, and about 400km on a lighter foot... everyone else concur with these numbers? This is on a 60lt tank? Either way, this thread = the win.
  3. how many k's got interior/engine bay pics?
  4. So anyone got any ideas where i could pick up a good condition low k's RB25DET from? Any ideas how much the conversion would cost if done by a mainstream mechanic?
  5. Ok so what is needed for an RB20 to RB25 conversion? Do I need an R33 gearbox too or will it all hook up? I'm only planning to do ECU remap, FMIC and zorst to start with, so will I need upgraded box from the word go? Thanks for the help guys.
  6. The reason I've looked into it is because I did like the sound of the engine but on top of that I've been told the RB's of that era tend to fail a bit, on top of that I would like a newer age SR (from say an S15 Silvia) which puts out better power figures but also is going to be better on fuel (a moot point in the quest for power obviously but still say-able ) and more resilient, I'm told. I figure an engine made in 1999 or whatever will be much more reliable and economic than one made in 1990. How much would someone like me expect to pay for an SR20DET from an early model S15 with reasonable k's? How does this compare with the cost of a low k's RB25DET?
  7. Hey Ladies and Gents (mostly Gents), I was hanging out with some mates the other night when we saw a very sexual R32 pass by that sounded somewhat more impressive than the usual. I was told by someone "in the know" that the car had been upgraded to an S15 SR20DET engine from the standard R32 RB20DET engine. Questions: - Is this actually doable? - Does the SR drop straight in or are there hardcore modifications to do? - Can you buy SR engines by themselves? If so, where from (if known)? - Would the R32 drivetrain withstand an SR upgrade (being that I understand the SR to be more powerful)? - Am I massively ill-informed? - If this is not do-able, what would be the cheapest/most cost effective engine upgrade? I am soon to be owning one of these fine machines (R32 GTS-t) and I would seriously consider financing the upgrade if it's possible and feasable to be done. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Adam
  8. Thanks for the reply Warren, great information there. What about boost? I mean i understand the R32 runs 7 psi stock, with a FMIC, I understand I could comfortably boost the stock turbo to about 12 psi without hassle? Is this true or not? If not, what is the appropriate level? Also, what FMIC would bolt straight onto the R32 stock piping? If there are none, which would require the least work? I live on the Gold Coast, by the way
  9. I've not yet bought the car. I'm waiting for a fellow to get finance to buy my current 2005 Hyundai Getz, then when that goes, the R32 will be in the garage within the week. The zorst seems to be the first real upgrade so I would say that's a given. My mate has a 94 GSR Lancer, 1.8l 4wd Turbo, got a mandrel bent zorst and claims a 30kw increase? Cost him like $2,500 but I never thought a zorst would boast this kind of increase. Thoughts? PS: If you do happen to have a suggestion, links or prices of the upgrades would be highly highly appreciated. Signed, The ultimate car noobie.
  10. Heh thanks for the input guys. Where might I find an R33 turbo for sale? If there are any that you're excluding because of a slightly higher price, feel free to include them and pricing as $2000 wouldn't be my absolute limit, I could push it for the right upgrade. Also, can I ask for less abbreviation? I don't know what half of that stuff is lol Thanks again! I'll definitely post up the results of the car purchase and upgrades.
  11. Greetings fellow 'liner-lovers, I'm a soon-to-be owner of a fairly stock R32 GTS-t and I want to ask a few questions about a couple of "cheapie" upgrades I heard about a while back. I was told by a kiwi guy in a "Hi Octane" DVD about a few bang-for-your-buck upgrades being a compressor wheel upgrade (housing stays as-is, but the compressor wheel is swapped out) and the boring of the throttle bodies if I remember correctly. I'm looking for about 160kw or more (not too much more ) but don't want to spend the world to get there. I've got an aftermarket intercooler going on when it reaches my garage, so cooling is taken care of (mostly) but I want to know what the goodie upgrades are out there just to get a bit of a kick under the right foot. Any information is greatly appreciated. I'll have about $2000 to spend.. Thanks again.
  12. Very nice car mate, I imagine it'd be well fast. Good luck with the sale, son of rajab knows if I had 16k we'd be talking
  13. Just wanted to know how you got that interior? Self-painted inserts or did you buy a custom dash/interior kit? What is involved with the shortshift kit? Hard to get installed?
  14. So what about kilometres on the engine etc? did you get my PM?
  15. Would you consider a straight cash sale, and if so what kinda money would you ask for? How many k's on the engine? BTW, this is by far the sexiest R32 non GTR i've seen, well done.
