comp test now in rear 6. 90 - then retested after all others and it was 90 again. maybe 92 5. 60 - retested 2nd last 60 again 4. 165 - 3. 92 2. 145 1. 160 - also retested and got 165 (maybe read guage wrong first time around?) i did 1,2, 6,5,4,3 then 5 then 6 then 1 again or something like that to check battery wasnt going flat towards the end giving bad results so any ideas now friends? i paid him to run it in on the dyno for me. if its not run in properly shud he fix it ( lets atart another round of lols for tuner replacing/fixing motor)

its got a wolf3d version 4 plugin

ok. when i do the compression test should i just let it crank about 5 times or something each cylinder? do i leakdown test each cylinder? never done one before. done compression tests but

remember the problem started after the first power pull. smoke came out the back (think he said that) and he saw it coming out under the bonnet. it wasnt oil covered in the engine bay when i picked it up. it was just puffing white smoke out the breathers. i gave it one pull through 2nd and abit of 3rd on the way home. and one quick one in second up a hill and when i got home theres oil everywhere. i dont think we can blame it on the machinist boring and honing and stuff. its where the guy that tuned it gets his machine work done for his race engines that he mainly does. just started it when i got home a few minutes ago and the white smoke sorta chugs out in quick breath sorta things in time with the engine. like its not continous sorta thing. head is a rebuilt one new for this motor. was a $750 rebuild so whatever that price one usually does it what got done. the rings were VERY brittle when i was putting them on the pistons. i broke one coz i put it on upside down. it was a bottom one and i tried to open it up to go over the top one that was already installed and it broke so easily. maybe they dont like 450rwhp. its weird to me that it would happen on the very first power run. like to me that maybe suggests 1 or more rings might have broken. but i dont know how brittle standard nissan ones or any other ones are to compare to. i did think to myself that i thought they might not like big power coz i snapped the one i broke a few times after i broke it initially to get an idea of the metal integrity thanks to the good dudes so far. to the homos. yous stink

im not sure if i have a pcv valve on it anymore. i just have all the breahters pipes open with nothing on them and a hole in one of the cam covers where something was removed (maybe pcv valve?). was going to hook up catchcan. wasnt expecting any blow-by does this mean i can rule out the pcv not connected properly as a possible problem? the first go at tuning with wastegate not hooked up it made a max of 327rwhp with no oil or anything at all coming out of the cam covers and nothing in the 200kms i drove it around on the road with the 20psi boost cut coming in around 4000rpm

just some. mine are definately cast. $245 or something

ok. il start doing stuff tomorrow. i was just hinking if there was a policy about blowing up a new motor (if it was infact caused by tuner error) as hees the only guy thats had it running and on his tune. will be interesting to find out whats happening can we rule out headgasket being blown from the symptoms shown? well the fuel lines were hooked up the wrong way in the engine bay by the mechanic (guy next to the guy tuning it) so maybe it could be the crankcase ventilation is also hooked up wrong. i had got it up to 20 psi boost cut a few times prior to the final tune after i took it back. he said it was rich as so i dont think any problems were caused there. and there were NO signd of oil at all coming out the breathers. good work beer barron. providing usefull information. not just saying "your shit joe blo" based of nothing at all really
-
well youve given the diagnosis its all my fault. yous have gotta know what from.
-
you need to be more specific sir. i said no silly ones.
-
i was impressed with myself when it started as it shud will happily sit back and lol at myself if its my own fault upon diagnosis
-
already been paid ok. so what do we think the problem is then? specific problem. not just "youre shit joe blo"
-
oh yep
-
yeah. he said that was with no timing also. lol. will find out what happened one day soon i guess. oh well. il get forged rods and pistons this time done at a engine builder
-
shop did it yeah he knew they were cast pistons. said hees done heaps around 500-550rwhp. even 600rwhp hees done on one. although im not sure how the mahle pistons compare to standard nissan ones. he said theyd be ok but
-
my main concern about the guy possibly owing me a motor was that if it has broken a piston from detonation. that would be his fault wouldnt it? and wouldnt be caused by poor assembly?
-
if its from poor assembly i totally accept it. it was a learning thing. if its from me i dont think il bother learning anymore lol. the big thing for me was going to be if it even started and worked properly in the first place. lol after the first startup and first tuning went well i was convinced i had done a good job done properly
-
motor was run in on dyno by tuner guy. the machine shop bored the block and supplied the pistons. and they measured the bearings and provided the ones i needed the standard rb25 i pulled out had 6 broken pistons and didnt make ANY bad noises. drove it for like 1.5 years as a smoke machine and it made 250rwhp smoking HEAPS
-
cool. hopefully thats the case. the problem will be shown when its pulled apart yes? it wont be mystery failure form me putting it together?
-
if its my fault then i accept it lol. i did drive it for about 200kms before power tune but with the tune the guy did first time
-
ah forgot that part. i put the crank in myself and couldnt get the rods and pistons in so got them put in at machining shop. then picked it up and assembled the rest myself
-
just a receipt from when i paid. about 4 weeks ago i got the car back. car wouldnt rev over 4500 in neutral and boost cut would hit at about 4000rpm if you could rev it that far and had boost cut from ecu at 20 psi. i had to ge the car back and take the wastegate off myself and fix the thread for the hose then put it on and go back to get the tune finished. in that time i put a 50mm gate on instead now but. today was the finish tune day
-
no rattle and clunk noises im pretty sure. runs abit rough on idle and its different to start then before. hard to start but does go has the 2 1.5mm oil restrictors put in and spool oil drain back kit for rear of head what are you thinking? hope it may just be broken ring
-
hi guys. just got my skyline back today. its a rb25-30 motor. standard head, standard rods and new cast mahle pistons. he said he did one pull only on it after tuning. it made 450rwhp on 17.5psi and blew heaps of smoke out the back (think he said that) and was coming out the breathers on the engine. he said the pistons would be fine for it (i already had the motor done and all that). after i got it home my engine bay is covered in oil from the breathers. (didnt have catch can on yet, just open breather pipes if it turns out to be from detonation can i make him pay for new motor?
