  1. there was a "longish" thread about some guy in the gong who was pushing the limits of a stock Rb25. plates were LNEMUP or something. anyway, he was making something over 500hp with over 100 dyno runs and shit until it eventually popped. Roy - That video is awesome. this the car? http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=IWvHd3H6n2k&NR=1
  2. the best of TTT whoo whoo!!!
  3. it is essentially a new tune. they will run the car as is. then they will need to adjust timing and fuel at each available tuning point.. then run it again. check it, make some more changes, run again etc etc. until there is a "good" compromise. not sure what you mean by sacrifice top end for more midrange.. you're not installing cams or different turbo. If it is stock turbo (which is sounds like it is), then it wont change much. The additional timing that he will be able to put in to the thing at lower revs will bring on the turbo quicker so I guess you will get better midrange in that sense. Top end will not change much if at all. although, your 171rwkw at 10psi seems to be down on most peoples 190ish. so it's possible that he might be able to add/reduce timing and adjust the fuel to match to make more power all through the rev range.
  4. This point is kinda useless. he is going to rebuilt the RB25 or buy an RB26. if he is rebuilding the RB25 with forged pistons and rods (all usual rebuild bits), gets head work done. what advantage does the $4K stock RB26 motor have now other than 100cc and 6 throttle body head? How is it in any way stronger? and he is looking for 260rwkw + The RB25 he has is more than capable. you didn't mention this first. if you have $8.5K for accessories to put on this rebuilt engine, you could do ALOT!!! Is your RB25 actually broken? if not, I'd buy an RB26. sell your rb25. have even more money, rebuild the RB26 well, then spend that $8K on that.
  5. silver skyline = arsehole
  6. Why all the hate?
  7. All the best mate. He has a fight ahead of him and you all need to be there. and well done on the slight health kit. It's always good to be healthy but lets just keep in mind that sometime these things happen. Do we remember the late Crazy John? young. father. money like no tomorrow. never smoked or drank. ate healthy, exercised every morning. had a heart attack on his morning walk and died right there. These are unusual circumstances... and keeping fat low and lungs clean gives you the best chance of living a long and happy life. everything in moderation.
  8. wait up wait up!! he was there to pay his insurance bill right? therefore, he had a cover note. therefore, he was comprehensively insured. right? riight???
  9. rebuild. get head work too. it will be better than a stock RB26 and at the end of your $8K you will have a better result. especially considering that before you even start anything, an RB26dett from an R32 will cost you about $4K. There goes half the budget. and you'd be silly if you didn't do at least a mini refresh of the rb26 engine while it is on a stand (belts, pulleys, oil and water pumps - possibly a crank collar), then it would be silly not to get rid of those fragile stock turbo's to at least late R34 gtr turbo's... There you have it. a semi refreshed RB26dett ready to fit in your skyline and you have already spent at least $6K. All in the car and driving around in a slightly boosted stockish RB26dett for about $7K You know what could be done to an RB25det that you already have with $7K? a shit load more. I guess you COULD spend close to $8K to get a really low KM R34 GTR engine fitted and running. but still. the $8K spent on the rb25 you already have will geet you much more fasts.
  10. no.. not the wrong rims.. you are talking about these one right? http://www.koya.com.au/admin/itemimage/large/MENIS.jpg As people have stated in their opinions.. don't like it.. See these.. http://www.koya.com.au/admin/itemimage/large/400IMG_0953.jpg only come in 17's.. as all good wheels should. Just my opinion
  11. different dyno = different figure. torque from the dyno is not the same as torque quoted by manufacturer. Dyno is a tuning tool. Drag strip shows car's ability.
  12. out of that lot of wheels, I would have picked the DRIFT TEK black. If I had to get from that page of course.
  13. put this in the forced induction section dude.. it'll get much more attention.
  14. My guess is 12.4-12.6 for your run.
  15. Will wait for new thread
  16. TOSHI, CEFFIE on these forums. Can both do this sort of shit for these sort of dollars. the fact is, if it's using stock Injectors, stock AFM, they can use one of their generic chips that they would have. I'm sure both have the ROMs to match an RB20 with (eg) 12 psi, stock injectors, afm and stock turbo and then another which has the above but with rb25 turbo... etc.. and they can both remove the speed limiter and raise rev limit if you want.. Just drop the guys a PM and ask some questions. they are both very heplful
  17. actually, if I remember correctly, some people still had problems with the front of the motor touching the bonnet. like the timing belt cover area. search "within" the rb30det thread for a few phrases like "bonnet+touching" or something.
  18. CTRL, ALT, DEL on the dyno.
  19. Front Facing Plenum will make it a straight fit. otherwise, you gotta modify the engine mounts, cut bracing shit off the bonnet, possibly lose your front strut brace. To help you out, I'll give you $50 for your RB20. Would make a cool door stop
  20. did the dyno guy try a different car on the dyno? Has he tried to reboot the dyno?
  21. I think it's Borat making a visit. Niice!
  22. SAFC purchase = $200 (first of the blue screen ones) Install = $50 (if you can't follow directions and solder 5 or 6 wires) tune = $200 ( to make changes to 8 fuel points) Stock ECU remap = $300 it has ALOT more points at which to make changes to Fuel. it has ALOT more points at which to make changes to Timing. it does NOT require soldering anything. It does not trick the signal sent from the AFM to the ECU to make the changes. It is all factory standard looking. there are a number of GTR's in Japan that run 9's and use stock ECU with a remap.
  23. Trade for Liberty RS Plus small cash from me to you.
  24. No I have not. Have you brain?
