I was also looking for a daily R31 to do that to a while back.. but I couldn't get one with RWC and rego in the price range I wanted to spend.. So ended up with a corolla as the run around car. Also, what the hell happened to FATS S13 RB30E+T? he bolted a stock RB30E in to an S13 with bogan bonnet scoop. bolted a KKR430? turbo to it? aparently it chirps seconds.. but nothing else was heard.

9.0:1 is not high compression. it is far better than 7.something : 1 of the stock VLT motor. RB25det is 9.0:1 as well. buying the motor is cheap enough. putting it in and getting around the rego details is not. and in the end, you have spent more on it to just get a stock RB30et in there.. buying the tubo parts off a VLT motor is much cheaper and you have a better package when all bolted up.

Yeh I've read all the threads on R31 club. saw a couple of posts by some homo called R31nismoi... oh.. never mind.. prices thrown around were about $2K for about 200rwkw. ABU - I don't see how it's temporary.

what are the legalities of bolting VLT stuff to the NA RB30 block that he has? supposed to be good for about 200rwkw and punchy due to the higher compression. budget too.

yeh early R33's are becoming cheaper than R32's.. and they are a better package (if you can look past the looks) better engine, better gearbox, only 60kg heavier. but like I said.. Looks. apart from forums and the sites you've already mentioned, there aren't that many other places to buy/sell cars.

before you go to "a professional".. search the forums for "AFM + SOLDERING" you will find instructions on how to re-solder the electrical contacts on the AFM. an AFM is a very simple device.. it's easy to fix.

RIPS "now" uses a GTR box in the 10sec GTS4 but it had run a few 10's with the stock GTS4 box. obviously it broke, just like the GTR one will eventually break. I too had a 4 door GTS4. piss poor performance with the RB20. only good things was the launch. once you are moving, it's a slow heavy gutless vehicle.

electrical contact cleaner is about $5 from Repco. I just bought some yesterday. get that. get the AFM off the car. spray this stuff in to the AFM and the element. it dries in about 10 seconds.. wipe anything you can with a dry clean cloth. DO NOT TOUCH THE HOTWIRE ELEMENT that sits in the AFM body. apart from that, it's all good to clean. plug it all back in and try again. MOST of the time it will fix the problem. while you're at it, clean out your air filter and air box (if you still have it)

how about on the front? does a wider tyre offer more "GRIP" during cornering compared to a skinnier tyre? all other things being equal. say on the same car, on the same day, same corner, same brand and compound of rubber, same speed etc.. put on a set of 255's all round, then same thing with 225's all round. which tyre offers more "GRIP" during cornering/turning? staightline in the dry is obvious.. bigger contact patch is better for traction.
