  1. the pulsar GTiR has constant 4wd... people have long been saying they have attessa etc but they are constant 4wd. GTS4 and GTR in R32 form are 100% rwd until they loss of traction or enough forces to push torque to the fronts. GTS4 and GTR in R33 form have always got like 10% going to the fronts and it increases with traction/forces. R34 GTR is similar to R33
  2. I was joking.. maybe I should use smiley faces.. better?
  3. you realise that an R32 GTS4 or GTR is always switching from 4wd to 2wd by itself? they are 100% rwd until slip or enough Lateral forces are placed on the car to push some torque to the front wheels. Look at your torque split gauge on the dash when you are driving. if it is sitting at 0 like when you are crusing along etc, it is in rwd. just get the switch. there is nothing wrong with going 4wd to rwd.
  4. not ghetto enough.. should have been MATT BLACK..
  5. Have you tried www.seek.com.au it's a small job site.. they may have some IT related jobs there. I think it'll be hard to find a part time IT job on the days/times you are free. You might have to look for full time work and do your course part time/after hours.. That will give you ore work options. I'm sure there are some 24/7 helpdesks that might need a 'regular human sleep time' shift.
  6. i'm pretty sure it's as stock as the day it left the Mitsubishi factory. send him a PM and ask him.. He won't hurt you.. he's not REALLY the Mafia... *horses head not included in his reply*
  7. you know you can buy a $50 switch that you can install and have 4wd or 2wd at the flick of a switch from inside the car? DIRTGARAGE from these forums has them. check the trader for sale or group buy sections..
  8. sounds electrical. alternator or battery maybe? how old is the battery? an auto electrician may be able to diagnose it a little better..
  9. we are talking about rebuilding an RB25 or RB26 bottom end right? As per LATINR33's post.. he doesn't have either engine at the moment. and either engine is going to go in to a RWD skyline. so if both engines have a blown piston, and both need to have the bottom end rebuilt, why do you think it would cost more to build the RB26 bottom end? do you want me to go find some prices of pistons and bearings and rods for both engines for you? if anything, as Roy said, the stock RB26 rods are good for about 400rwkw so there's a saving of around $1K both engines will need good rod bolts. god doesn't need to help us all. just you it seems. perhaps he can help you read a thread properly before making your own post. besides, you still didn't explain why you think it costs more to rebuild an RB26 bottom end.
  10. cat back and HKS mushroom filter bro.
  11. $10K - $12K rebuilds are due to people going "well.. it's already apart, might as well do this and might as well do that." In all honesty, if your car is stockish, and you're use for it is street use, and the turbo fails and the engine goes, you could get away with fixing it for alot less than the figures you read. example from Nismoid... your rear turbo blows, ceramic exhaust wheel dust goes in to the engine, resulting in low compression on the rear cyclinders. so you're up for a rebuild and a pair of turbo's. You can pick up a pair of R34 GTR turbo's for about $700. yes they still have a ceramic rear wheel but they are about 10 years newer, and also ball bearing. You can have your engine rebuilt using stock cast pistons instead of fancy forged gear. while it's apart, change the wear and tear things, like water and oil pumps, timing belt, idler, gaskets and seals etc. you could have the car back on the road and running like new for about $5K - $6K. and you have new turbo's, no oil leaks, no exhaust leaks, even compression etc. don't lose sleep. and if it ever breaks and needs a rebuild, and the car is only STREET DRIVEN, do a standard rebuild and don't start saying "well since it's already apart, might as well......." that's where it doubles in cost.
  12. hi.. long time reader hey? you liar!!! click forced induction. scroll down a little bit. look at titles of the first bunch of threads that start with "sticky" Now I'm sure you are clever enough to work the rest out.
  13. gt-ss - never been boosted.. classic.
  14. yes.. gt-ss turbo's are a perfect street turbo from what all owners are saying. 300kw at the wheels is well within reach.
  15. yes.. install it yourself. spark plugs will be about $4 each. install them yourself. tune will not cost you that much. all the information you need is here on these forums.
  16. stock bov or all bovs for that matter... work by boost and vacuum. when you have the vacuum line connected to the top of the bov it can't leak. when you are boosting and your boost gauge sees 20 psi (example obviously), you have 20 psi of air being rammed in to the motor. so there is 20psi of air in the intercooler pipes. so there is 20 psi of air on the bottom of the bov piston pushing against it. however, if your boost gauge is showing 20psi, that means the vacuum line on top of the bov ALSO has 20 psi of pressure in it as it gets it's vacuum source from same place the boost gauge does (in the plenum side of the throttle body). therefore, 20 psi on top and 20 psi on the bottom = 0 pressure. if there is 0 pressure, then the bov is not going to open. so wether you have a stock 7 psi or some monster 30 psi, the bov will not leak. the only reason to change the bov is that at massive PSI and power, the amount of air that is to be "blown off" on gear changes is too much for the stock bov, that you get some flutter. so a bov with a larger diameter piston and venting capability is required. but as Cubes and I were discussing earlier, some change the bov for that little bit of extra throttle response in on/off throttle instances like racing. the stock bov has that tiny leak hole to make the transition on to boost smoother and to allow the bov to open and close rapidly as required. See what user "the Maffia" has to say about GT30, stock bov and 300rwkw.
  17. I love the general broad comments. Yes.. in general the RB26 internals are good for that sort of power. my comment of "Having said that, 14psi on stock R32 turbo's in on burrowed time" is in reference to the stock Ceramic wheeled turbo's bolted to the side of the rb26. if they blow, you are up for a "MINIMUM" pair of turbo's. new, used or hiflowed or whatever. I don't see that being less than $1500 for the parts, then labour to fit it all... no offence, you just don't come across as the type of person who can do this task. I say minimum, as it's seems to be a 50/50 chance of blowing the engine when you blow a stock turbo on these cars. do a search and you'll see a few threads about GTR's and rebuilds. some people don't have any issues to the engine when a stock turbo blows and others lose compression on the 3 cylinders that the blown turbo is connected to.. a simple rb26 forged piston and rod pack is close to $2K blah blah blah.. could be an expensive exercise for running that sort of boost on stockers.. if I were you, I'd try to stretch the budget to buy a GTR which has good compression and aftermarket turbo's or one tha't s been fully built
  18. there is a whole host of aftermarket injectors for the rb25. Anything 440cc or higher will allow you to get the best of the hiflow. Z32 AFM is the easiest option for the AFM
  19. about 180rwkw how much boost do you plan to run once tuned with pfc, ebc and fuel pump? then someone can tell you what you will probably make. I'd "guess" with 14psi on stock turbo's, PFC and fuel pump, tuned, it will be about 230rwkw or round about. and good for mid to low 12's? Having said that, 14psi on stock R32 turbo's in on burrowed time. Do this at your own risk.
  20. yeh.. especially in the rain..
  21. oh you said mechanic and you are 23. so I will assume you've got 5 years experience of some sort. to be honest with you, a mechanic doesn't get paid all that well unless they own the workshop. it's a hard, and not so well paying trade. I'm sure a mechanic on here could give you more of an idea of real income brackets. $400 would get you a nice 2 bd apartment in the northern sydney suburbs of Lane Cove, Chatswood, Artarmon. these suburbs are only 10-15 minutes away from the city centre by buss or train. although, there aren't all that many mechanical workshops there. for that type of work, the inner west seems to be the place. $400 a week would get you a very nice apartment to live in in the inner west. what does your wife do for work?
  22. get beaten up by the natives in Redfern. Tell us a few details. where is your current location in relation to where you work? what kind of work? how many years work? same for your wife. Sydney is not cheap or nice to live in.
  23. How many R32 GTS4 gearboxes have you broken? RIPZ in NZ have these cars in the 10's using rb30/25 and stock gearbox and diffs. that requires ALOT more power than 260rwkw. and alot more torque than 4 rb20's put together. they are not like a GTST rb20 gearbox.
  24. rotary revolution cycle goes. REV, POP, REBUILD I'm certain that for about $10K - $15K, you are NOT going to get a reliable series V
  25. just in addition to ROY's post, see my signature.. LatinR33 - explain how an RB25 bottom end is cheaper to build than an RB26 bottom end. the last time I look at either, they had the same number of pistons, bearings, rods, rod bolts etc.
