This Guy Doesn't Seem To Like The Gtr Much...
TTT replied to Ionos's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I should add that I would take an STI over a GTR. only because I need a 4 door. But I'd take an EVO of the same year over any of the others... including R34 gtr. -

the attessa can be controlled to your liking with an aftermarket attessa controller which can be purchased by a member on these forums for about $350 if I remember.. you can go from 50/50 torque split to 100% rwd (r32 only). I don't have a gtr and I don't think it would suit my requirements either. also, there is no use comparing a current STI (at the time of that article which was 2000) to a late 80's or up to mid 90's GTR. perhaps he should have compared the 2000sti to a 2000 R34 gtr. -
sounds like a good enough reason not to buy it.. make sure all the numbers are checked. vin, engine, rego. I think there is a way to see if a number has been filed off and re-punched too. get that check check for new welding around the firewall.

R32 Gtr - Just Removed Boost Restrictor
TTT replied to Y2K's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yeh... but now with 14.5 psi, things might be different. maybe the fuel pump isn't up to the task? I was mainly refering to the thread owners. but if you have gone from 10 - 14.5psi, it's be worth re-checking surely. it's not like it's cheap to build these rb26's... even to stock level... $50 is cheap insurance and piece of mind. if I ever get an RB26 powered car, it will defeinitely have a compression check, leak down test, all new fluids, new plugs, and a dyno run. a little outlay up front but good cheap (in the grand scheme of things) insurance. -
what's the stag with the rb26 called? that might be considered a sports wagon.. at least it's manual... for those of us who still have our knees ofcourse..

Bought A Dodgy Car, Advice Wanted
TTT replied to DLUD3R's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
get copper plugs not platinum or iridiium. waste of money. copper plugs and split fire coil packs. and you have an R32 GTR. if it has the stock wheels, you have the best rims you can get already.. why change it? LMAO at the compression check by first mechanic.. -
R32 Gtr - Just Removed Boost Restrictor
TTT replied to Y2K's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
spend $50 for a dyno run. it will tell you how much boost your car is set to. how much power it has how much tractive effort (torque) it has what the a:f ratios are at. if the A:F ratio is uner say 12:1 when boosting say over 4000rpm, then it'll be safe. -
well I guess in a Stag section it would be taken in a harsh manner. but I answered the original question the best I could in my opinion. small market, hard to sell, sell it cheap as a stocker, sell parts to make some money back. For some odd reason, most people (myself included) want a car that hasn't got mods so I can do it myself... yeh you get the car cheaper to start with, but the mods cost more money than if you had bought the car with the mods in the first place. as for another wagon... I 'personally' much prefer an old liberty/legacy RS or GT wagon to a stag. again.. just me.. let's not get all "then get lost to a liberty forum" now..

has there been an explanation as to why the no dip stick?
-
no... they are not a skyline. a skyline weighs 1350kg in manual R33 gtst form (most common skyline) you need about 200rwkw to run deep in to the 13's. a stag weighs what.. about 1700kg? 1660kg or something wasn't it? it has the brakes of a non turbo R32 yes it has Attessa 4wd system. but it's auto. boring. 200rwkw might get you in to the 14's.. seriously. it should be used as a family hack and not even considered as a sports car in anyway, just because it has attessa and rb.

It's always hard. the fact is, very few people will buy a car for what the owner thinks it's worth. And "Everyone" wants a bargain. your best bet it to sell it at the lower end price in stock form. then sell all your goodies to the stock stag owners. right this instant, there are 24 stags for sale on carsales around AUS. Cheapest is 11.5K and the others are averaging $13K if you return yours to stock and advertise for $12.5K it will probably sell. fact is you probably have about $10K worth of mods on there (new price) so you could probably sell them all for a total of about $5K. there you go. made $17K. there have been Stags for sale on these forums for $8K which hung around for ages. and there is only a minority who want a stag. to "generalise"... they are: big ugly Almost ALWAYS auto heavy so you only have a very small market to sell to. showed my missus one and she said "that is a massive volvo" that's the general public view. it's not a sports car, but has some power.. as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder... and to like the way a stag looks, you're gunna need to find someone who is on their way to a rehab clinic.

how much money you got to spend? cheap upgrade ($300) = stock RB25 turbo a little more expensive ($900) = hi flow from user named 'SLIDE' on these forums. more money ($2K+) = GCG ball bearing hiflow. more money = RB26dett transplant.

Mitsubishi Starion - I Checked It Out, Was A Complete Joke
TTT replied to Dean_HR31's topic in General Automotive Discussion
geez.. you don't want much hey? all those cars you listed are nuggets in general.. that would be multiplied during drifting.. do this. buy AUS R31 skyrine Hi flow from Slide rb25 exhuast manifold VLturbo injectors cheap FMIC kit. Microguess ecu Hacksaw and blades. that should add up to about $3K 200rwkw rwd, can park anywhere, can possibly be drifted... -
Sick Of Owning A Modified Car And The Associated Hassle
TTT replied to MANWHORE's topic in New South Wales
didn't read all the replies.. however... zoom or HPI have the 4 gootr skyline with RB26 in it. makes around 300rwkw if I recall. it is using a "STANDARD" aus delivered GTR exhaust from the turbo's back. plenty of people on these forums making over 250rwkw with a stock GTST air boxes. I mentioned in another thread about exhaust sizes.. I think SK had a calculation for what size pipes flowed what CFM. I'm pretty sure that 2.5 inch exhaust is still good for around 300rwkw worth of flow. problems solved. You're not going to enjoy your car any less with these in place. Don't know what power your car makes but if it's a daily driver, I'd say the above suggestions would make for a better drive. -
Mitsubishi Starion - I Checked It Out, Was A Complete Joke
TTT replied to Dean_HR31's topic in General Automotive Discussion
for daily, you'd better hope you daily go to a workshop. just like any bitsamissing from the late 80's to early 90's, they are an expensive adventure.. Yes they have power steering.. and the steering is too light.. There seems to be a small following (as with any car I guess) in japan.. you can find some pretty good looking ones. but it's a money pit. see if you can find one with a 4g63 conversion.. but then again, that will be over $10K.. if you want a daily driver/drifter you'd best stick to an S13. -
ohh shucks..
