  1. rubber inlet.. oh..
  2. in every gear? even if you try to go over with light throttle or just on wide open throttle (WOT)? If you suspect that it is your coil packs, you can do a temporary fix of taking them out and strapping the tops with Electrical tape.. Do it really tight and go for a spin.. it might be a cheap fix.. the coils tend to get hairline cracks from heat over time and some people have head success with doing the above. well at least until the coil fully gave up and they definitely had to replace it. anyway, it might not even be coil problems.
  3. sales pitch mate. I know of a number of 200 sx's making over 230rwkw with HYBRID or copy cooler. my mild car has about 170rwkw with a hybrid cooler. latest fast fours has some monkey in a 300rwkw r32 RB20 with a hybrid cooler. a couple of people on here are making over 250rwkw with hybrid coolers. but as stated above, $400 is expensive these days. modyourcar.com has them at about $350 mercurymotorsports.com has them for about the same price. look around. they work fine. just don't get the piping kit with it. buy the cooler and then get someone to make up some pipes for you. the ones in the kit have had some problems with small leaks making squeeling noises.
  4. I think timing as well. increased boost. sensed knock ecu pulled timing back. now run like nugget
  5. rubbish. rb30 bottom end and rb25 head will give it 8.3:1 compression... that's not high..!! as for 350rwkw... it would definitely be pushing the stock rods and pistons at that level. You really should read the 91 pages that are there in that thread. also, saying GT40 turbo doesn't really mean anything.. what is it's rating? AR's etc... these will tell you if it will flow enough to produce the power you want. these have been covered in that thread.
  6. he just said that the GTST and GTR have 4.11 as standard. isn't that what you wanted to know? so you don't have to replace yours.
  7. the one I went for a ride in had bosch pump, R32 GTR intercooler, pod and cat back with 10 psi with turbo fart boost controller he managed a rich mixtured 170rwkw.
  8. just expect between 180-200rwkw with the mods you listed. off topic. did you blow the rb20? Can I steal parts off it?
  9. same for me Roy. I'm even going as far as to keep the stock air box. been told to replace the rubber hose between turbo and air box to steel.. which I will have painted black. Couldn't you get a custom one made like those found in the corollas? where it goes from the strut tower to the firewall, then to the other strut tower. I'm just not going to use one but you do seem to spend a bit of time on the track so it is obviously requierd. I figure that jap coil overs and whiteline anti sway bars with new bushes will be alot more stable than any other car I've had so it will be an improvement for me. I've had a strut brace on my R32 and now on my S14 and have noticed no change from when there was none.. but with stockish suspension I guess it does nothing. just do it you panzy and stop punishing (reving tits off) those poor RB20's. hahahaha go team-500nm-torque-@-4500rpms....
  10. you can't use the factory bovs (GTST or GTR) in an atmo venting setup for the reason you just said above. they are designed to stay open a little at idle and therefore only good for plumback.
  11. TTT

    need bov

    post in wanted section.
  12. yeh I don't plan to go over 1 bar at any time. I wonder if $5K is a realistic budget for a CHEAP rb30 build. stock pistons and so forth. I figured about $1K for bottom end and head. $2K for turbo $1K for labour (my mechanic said that he will let me use his tools and workshop) $1K for ECU and tuning possibly cheaper on some thing.. like the motor might be cheaper to purchase, the turbo might be cheaper if second hand. labour might be less. hmm. We'll see in about 18 months. damn weddings.
  13. easier and cheaper ways of making alot more power. I'll give you directions. go back from here to the "Forced induction performance forum" look up top at all the stickies. find one tht is 91 pages long. read him.
  14. are you saying that "tuning" was the key?
  15. Yeh... I think I'm going to have to put aside another $2K for a retrim.
  16. thanks guys.. I'll get in contact soon.. on another note.. look what came up at J spec.. http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=2004 mmmm so much nicer interior with leather.. might have to save for a re-trim if I get a non leather interior one.. and check out the price.. the way I see it.. $7500 landed. $1500 compliance and so on. $1000 for rego $10,000 total. $2000 for manual conversion $12,000 would be about right for a clean stockish manual cefiro. It's sounding good. 1 year later, $5000 rb30 build and... oh.. I've said too much..
  17. good joke man.
  18. again.. T3 is just a generic name given to turbo's that have that flange on them. eg. VL turbo commonwhores have a T3 turbo but that won't bolt on directly to a skyline cause the T3 from the VL turo has it's wastegate flap on the dump pipe instead of the turbo itself. an R34 turbo will bolt on fine.
  19. 103kw at all four wheels right? and this is simply with exhaust pod and boost at 12psi which is 2 psi above stock. sounds about right given the power loss through the 4wd driveline.
  20. Hi Nic. Just have a few questions.. 1.) turbo - still have ceramic exhaust wheel? you say hiflowed housing... not sure what you mean.. 2.) ecu - moded? aftermarket? 3.) air filter of some sort? 4.) air con? 5.) stereo of some sort? 6.) is that stone chips on the bonnet? how is the rest of the body work? panels and paint? 7.) what injectors did you JUST HAVE FITTED? stockers? 8.) the Teins.. height and damper adjustable as well? 9.) The 2 way LSD - brand? how is it in regular road use? in the wet? I mean, How locked is it? does it skip the inside wheel at every turn? Sorry for hounding.. Just want a clearer pic of the car and it's details..
  21. Who wants to help me by letting me check their car out. I've never seen one properly. I need to know how much room they have, boot space, performance etc.. Was considering buying a 4 door R32, but they just don't look as good as the 2 door's and a Cefiro I just recently saw for sale (ceffo's) on these forums, looked really good. If a Cefiro has what I need, I will not wait till next year to get one. I will sell my S14 and get one straight away. Actually, CEFFO's one is very nice looking from the pics.. But I don't want to come and waste your time while you think that I will buy the car. I can't till I sell mine and only if it is suitable for what I want in my next car. so who wants to help. TT
  22. wow.. another R33 with increased boost and missfire thread.. perhaps someone should write some code that doesn't let you post a question before you do a search for it.
  23. You're wrong. what no actuator? the actuator is the metal arm that goes from the round diaphram to the wastegate flap of the turbo. The R32's don't have a "BOOST CONTROLLER" the boost is set by the spring rate int he wastegate diaphram. the stock spring will hold 10 psi. not 7psi. If your R32 is only producing 7 psi when stock, then you could have a few problems. faulty boost gauge. Weak spring in wastegate diaphram. R33 actuator.
  24. lots. depends.. if you are going for the cheapest route of stock rb30 bottom on to stock rb25de head with no forged goodies, i guess sydney kids first one is a good example. he was getting 450hp on an egine dyno using and old to4e turbo. no internal mods on the egine. i'm sure someone can tell you what rwkw that is. anyway, SK says that car is still going strong with 70,000kms+
  25. brackez - yes 10 psi is stock. With a full exhaust and pod filter I used to get 11.5 psi with no boost controller. 13-14psi can be done, but I wouldn't say no dramas. you do it at the risk of damadging your turbo. the ceramic exhaust wheel on the skylines are known to break off at that sort of boost level. this is due to 2 things. 1.) at that kind of boost level, the shaft speed is too much for it to sustain constant abuse. 2.) at that kind of boost level, the amount of heat generated on the exhaust side, can and does delaminate the ceramic material and the exhaust wheel of the turbo snaps off from the shaft and goes for a small tour of your 3 inch exhaust system and headbuts your cat. kinda time consuming to clean. DRAK - no worries. My only concern is this thing that you keep refering to as a t28 BB. that doesn't mean anything. T28 BB turbo's can mean anything. Some S15 200sx's come standard with BB T28's. they are rated at 320hp. which isn't reallly an improvement, when you consider that the skyline turbo's have a T3 pattern flange, this means that if you got a T28 of some sort, you would need to then have an adapter made, which means mods to the exhaust as well. Waste of time and money. You want a cheap upgrade, get an R33 GTST turbo or even a R34 GTT turbo which is even slightly better. My friend had a R34 GTT turbo, fuel pump, GTR intercooler, rechip, 14psi boost and manged 181rwkw. as for 1/4 mile time.. this depends. ON you that is. if you haven't done it before, you will find that it is not as easy as you think. getting the launch just right to get a decent 60' time is critical. shift points are important.. just reving each gear to red line and shifting there isn't always the best option. anyway, get it done, get out there and practice. as a guide.. another friend with an R32 gtst with about 170rwkw, managed a 13.7 while running 18 inch wheels. that's the best I've seen from an R32 that I personally know of. I'm sure there are others that are quicker and much slower.
