My brothers 1st gen mx6 pulls harder than my gtst please help!!!
TTT replied to 4bella's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the mines ECU can only be tuned by MINES and there are no places in aus. However, someone MIGHT be able to get rid of the mines chip and make a new one for you for our fuel with better a:f ratios. all that boost through the stock R32 intercooler is a big ask. you're going to break something. keep the boost down or get a decent fmic. you might be on a tight budget but look at it this way. $1000 for a cooler now or over $4000 for a decent rebuild when your engine dies from detonation. the apexi computer in your friends car that handles boost and a:f ratios is probably a Power FC. NO you can't take itout of his and put it in yours. there are ones for the R32 GTST's but are pretty rare from what I remember. and not cheap. as for the MX6 being quick off the line.. what did you expect.. 2.2L, 4 cylinder with a rather small turbo. they get about 5psi boost from just under 2000rpm all the way to about 5000rpm and then die off towards there red line of 6000rpm. of course it's going to be quicker off the mark than your 2L 6 cylinder with a larger than stock turbo. The MX6 is not what I would call fast, but they are pretty torquey (if that is a word) around town due to there smallish turbo and 2.2 capacity. -

First things first.. 1.) The Mines ECU.. get rid of it.. send a PM to a guy on these forums called TOSHI and speak to him about doing a remapped ECU for you for the mods you have... check this link for his previous posts... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ht=remapped+ecu 2.) You say you have a GT28 but then say it is from a dealer and you are not sure how to tell.. Are you sure it is a GT28? On the turbo, does it say NISSAN or 16V anywhere? you should be able to see it from the engine bay.. if it does, then that is a stock turbo... but then again 18psi you sometimes push through it would pretty much destroy a stock one.. 3.) you have a fuel regulator but no aftermarket fuel pump... running that sort of boost would surely not last on a stock fuel pump. 4.) you have not mentioned anything about an aftermarket intercooler... are you still using the stock side mounted one on the R32? My suggestion would be as follows.. 1.) go and do a simple dyno run so that you can get a current power figure on low and hi boost settings. you can also see what fuel mixtures you have as that gauge you are talking about doesn't show shit as you probably have a stock O2 sensor. From this, you will be able to tell where you are going wrong.. if anything is wrong.. 2.) THEN, I would do this.. Front mounted intercooler Fuel pump Then ECU from Toshi.... He's a top bloke.. Im sure that if you have a GT28 and all the other mods and at 18psi with good A:F mixtures, you should have about 180rwkw or possibly more.. and the costs?? dyno run - $80 (or cheaper on club dyno days) FMIC - $1000 (including piping and so on - or cheaper.. there are 2 GTR coolers for sale on these forums for $350 each...) Fuel pump - $200 (WALBRO 255L pump from internet shops... try www.mercurymotorsport.com.au ) Remapped ECU - $300 from Toshi.. and he will go to a dyno with you to make sure it is spot on and try different chips/ecu's to get the perfect one) basically under $2000... -

How can you have a new turbo, run 18-20psi and not know how much power your car makes? after spending all that money, you didn't even put it on a dyno to make sure that it is running safe a:f setting? unbelievable..!!! -
No it doesn't. Ball bearing turbo's take a few seconds to spin down but that's about it..

R32 Skyline GTS-T vs SR20DET S13 Silvia/180SX
TTT replied to Wink's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I say a series 1 S14 is better than both. for a good condition R32 you would be looking at about $15K - $17K That price would get you an equally good S14. which I think looks better than a S13 in silvia or 180sx form and the interior is better than a skyline.. back seat in any of the cars mentioned are pretty useless. -
as said. pull the bov apart and wd40 it all and put it back together again. once it is off the car, you should be able to push the piston by hand.. and the movement should be smooth.. pulling apart and wd40 will bring it back to good working order if it is getting stuck

damn 2002 thread.. anyway, just make your own controller.. http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0060/article.html

Questions - My dyno results ok? How to improve?
TTT replied to Bill's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I don't mean to knock you so don't take it personally, but isn't that power figure really Poor? I mean I got a similar figure when I had my R32 with an exhaust, filter, rb25 turbo and 11psi.. and alot of guys get over 160rwkw with stock rb20 turbo.. surely this is not normal for an R34 GTT unless it's auto.. maybe? -
question for those that used it... I can't work out how much to use?!?!?!?! My SR20 is supposed to have 3.7L of oil in it (including the oil filter) The ROIL bottle says to use 1:14 for engine oil, but then the ROIL bottle has measurements in Ounces or some american crap.. So how much do I use for my engine oil? what is the conversion for litres to Ounces?

in that case, send me your mobile number and I'll call you this weekend..

14:1???? KAAABBOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

FS: GFB plumback bov - $200
TTT replied to TTT's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I'll have to take pics of the unit.. or if you want, check out www.gfb.com.au an dlook through their BOV range and check the plumback one.. -
don't trust the stock gauge.. it's not very acurate at all. A good condition RB20det in stock form should get 10psi. Do a search on his forum for "stock bov mod" to find pics and details on how to do it.
-
to be annyoying I'd say put an SR20 or RB25det in there.. the other thing is, why are you guys telling him to increase the boost to 11psi? a stock RB20det runs 10psi.. what is 1psi going to do? I'd say that if you got a 3 inch turbo back exhaust, pod filter or free flowing panel filter in the stock air box with better Cold air ducting to it, you will already be producing 11psi or just a bit more.. then do the stock bov mod where you block up the little bleed hole under it and you will have boost comming on harder and probably see about 12psi on your boost gauge on a cold night. at that point, get a FMIC and boost controller and push another 2 psi through it until the turbo eventaully dies and then you ca replace it with something decent. and what have we spend on POWER here? $600 exhaust $100 air filter $1000 intercooler $100 boost controller almost $2000 and running about 160-170rwkw. that should keep you happy for a while.

Purchased a year ago but not really used. Taken out of box to see if I can use in the engine bay then put back in as I can't be bothered cutting hoses to fit and so on. Currently collecting dust on top of book shelf. In sydney. will post interstate at buyers expense.. $200

Zahos.. I think the main reason people opt to use Redline is that there are ALOT of skylines out there with crunchy gearboxes. And on EVERY occasion where redline lightweight shockproof was used, the crunchyness went away. In my r32, 2nd gear would crunch (going 1st to 2nd) at anything above 5000rpm if shifting at normal shift speeds. tried some synthetic penrite stuff, still the same. I bought the redline oil and after about 50km of driving, the crunch never came back. to me, $100 on 3.8L of Redline oil was a great investment. Considering that the gearbox oil doesn't get changed every 5000kms like the engine oil does which tends to cost $50 at least. Anyway, in my current car (S14) the gearbox is the best I've ever owned, and I will not bother using redline as I don't see the need.

TTT replied to TTT's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Sorry mate.. Money from the sale will be put towards some debts. and another car will be purchased with the left over $'s. So unless you want to pay about $3K on top of your skyline, I can't help you.. -
they should look nice on an S14.. we'll see... eventually...
