  1. cool hand luke. the supra and most VL's and so on from the fullboost site don't run bovs. they run huge turbos and huge intercoolers with large diameter pipe work and when they back off the throttle and there is no bov, the air goes back through the turbo and so on and makes a really loud shuddering sound. the sound is also amplified by the size of the turbo and pipe work. hope that helps.
  2. with the RB25 turbo you will not be dissapointed.. I promise you..
  3. roy. those gaskets cost about $20 from GCG turbos in Condel Park.
  4. I have a RB20 turbo that will fit straight on... hehehehe I'm guessing you are after an upgrade but if you want a stocker in good nick, I have one for sale for $350ish. see pics in my sig...
  5. where in NSW are you? suburb wise. And do you have the books that come with it?
  6. geez frank.... j00 reply a month later?? hahaha
  7. bovs don't flutter. they CAUSE the flutter. when they don't open due to being set too tight, the air doesn't come out of the bov and has to escape the pipes back through the turbo where it came in. but as it passes through the turbo which is still spinning, the air gets chopped up and if you have a pod filter so that you can hear the induction sound louder, you will hear the air getting chopped up as it goes back through the turbo. that's the ft t t t t t t t t sound you hear that you call fluttering. which is actually called "compressor surge".
  8. I think the boost limit is 15psi for the bosch bovs.
  9. have you had a look at the turbo area? are you sure that you are not missing bolts of the exhaust or other flanges causing the turbo to knock against the other metals? as mentioned. a blown turbo wouldn't make a knocking sound.. and why would your turbo blow when you are driving off boost and at like 20 km/h
  10. if his car is making a fluttering sound, then I am going to suggest that the standard bov is stuck closed, someone has put a plate under it to seal it or it is blocked of somewhere, somehow.. take the bov off, and see if you can push the piston in yourself. if you can, then the blockage is going to be somewhere else.. maybe there is a block in the bov return line.. check those out and see what you get.
  11. they cost about $50 I think. you will need an adapter plate to make it fit a skyline. which cost about another $30 - $40. what's wrong with your stock bov? by the way, you do know that the bosch bov has to be PLUMBED back right?
  12. I doubt you could get them for $100..If you can then you're laughing.. think about it.. REV210 is still running the standard cooler on his car and getting close to 12 second pass (or maybe already done it) and has who knows what power at the wheels. these intercooler are on a car that already has 206kw and just as the R33 ones can handle some extra power so can these so it would be a great upgrade for someones R33 or R32 who is not looking at getting more than say 250kw at the engine... or maybe even a little more.. I think that these are worth closer to $300 from some that I have seen. good luck.
  13. here you go... R33 W187×H205×T60(mm) R34 W187×H223×T80(mm) this should help those who are curious of the fit and so on. looks like the pipes are identical to me..
  14. just to add another simple thing.. does this car have a pod filter sitting in the engine bay? My R32 GTST has an AMB temp button on the dash. I also bought a little digital temp gauge which has a temp probe. the temp probe is stuck in to my pod filter. the pod filter is partitioned off from the engine bay by this foam/heat shield material (not the best but it is ok for now) when driving at night at about 80km/h, amb temp showing 15 degrees, the partitioned pod filter temp shows 17 degrees (which is damn good) in stop go traffic, I've seen the temps go to 55 degrees at the filter while it is about 18 outside. now this is while driving off boost or sort of on and off low boost.. Now, if the air going in my pod filter is say 20 degrees on a 15 degree night, then it goes through the turbo being compressed causing it to heat up some more, how can you expect an intercooler which is simply air to air to reduce this temp to below 15 degrees? I will be getting another of these digital temp gauge/probes to put in just before the throttle butterfly so I can see how efficient my intercooler is and also to see what temps are entering the engine. I will add another post when this is done to let you all know. by the way, the temp gauge I bought is good from -30 to +150 degrees. I tested it with a normal chemist thermometer in a glass of water and it was identical.
  15. get the first of the twin cam corolla's. the square ones. 86kw, light little car. got no torque but loves to rev like all hell. I loved that car.. very VERY reliable. insurance is dirt cheap. can pick up a good example (well as good as a 15 - 17 year old car can be.. 86 - 88 models) for under $4K
  16. I remember he was still trying to sell it about 1 or 2 weeks ago. so I would assume that it still is. The FFF should be back up by tomorrow surely.. all the knobs on that forum will be losing it by now.. 2 days without their lives basically..
  17. His name is Marcus (I think) and his user id on FAST FOURS FORUM is ZOOLANDER... FFF is currently down for maintenance.. Nice car huh?
  18. no.. there is one on the front of the radiator. the other fan on the engine side is the Clutch fan.. On my R32 GTST anyway...
  19. my outside thermo fan is also wired to the A/C. I am planing on puting some sort of vent just above the gap between the radiator fan and the engine block. sort of like the vents that are on those aftermarket carbon fibre bonnets.. like a long slot from left to right.. that way, the heat that is sucked out of the radiator has an easier route out of the engine bay..
  20. I just bought a clutch kit for my clutch fan. will put it on tomorrow morning. $150 - brand new. I will then pull apart my old one and have a look see what could have been done to reco it... maybe I can find a way for others to save money in the future.. we'll see..
  21. copper plugs are easily good for over 20,000kms. iridium/platinum is a waste of money in my opinion.
  22. Roy. are you willing to sell the dump & front pipe seperately?
  23. not what you asked for but I do have a MKIV twin turbo supra intercooler for sale. as you may or may not know, the supra pulls about 230kw from it's engine and this cooler is capable of cooling and flowing air from 2 turbos. pics can be found in the link in my signature.. I am after $260 CORE ONLY dimensions are....230mm wide x 275mm high x 130mm thick (that's right. 130mm or 13cm thick...) let me know....
