  1. Nick will no doubt be doing States in March - My one in QLD is in April. Then if no injuries, we'll be flying down for Nationals in June

  3. FYI... Logan
  4. That's probably a good thing for all the engine outs
  5. says NSW club member on your profile... I didn't think there was any place other than sydney worth living in NSW... and even that's a stretch.. lol
  6. Nick. Everyone comments on how well Max wraps them so definitely learn of him. There are many ways to do it. Some vids online for them too. I got Scott at PTC Brisbane to show me. I don't wrap too tight though..... Too much of a pussy. LOL. I'll start to incorporate them closer to the date and start cranking them a little. You should see some of the bruises the others get.
  7. I lay 2 x 10kg plates on the ground and stand on those. The loaded bar is on the ground so you end up pulling from a lower position.
  8. I finally got back to a 180 deadlift last night. For 3 sets of 3 From a 6cm deficit New 12 week program starts Monday leading up to states comp in April so weight will drop way down for all lifts for a few weeks.
  9. There is a PTC gym in almost every state. Sydney is in Lidcombe. Go and do one session there and ask the coach to check your form. It'll cost you like $25 or something bit it will be worth it.
  10. Was wondering where you went Nick. You're going to enjoy getting used to those wraps. LOL
  11. Yeah if it's not taxing you yet, don't worry about changing it. When/if it gets to the stage where after squats you can't bear the thought of putting the plates back let alone deads, consider changing.
  12. Because Birds
  13. he's talking about your increases in deadlift.
  14. Shoulder injury currently. When I'm fine I'd do 3 sets on wednesday so it would go Bench, Rows, OHP, chins My shoulder injury is due to a lot of things, but a major one is more pressing then pulling. so now on the mend, I just do bench, then lots of pulling.. I'll add them back in later.
  15. Yep.. pretty much what I do... replace OHP with Pendlay Row and that's what I do through the week. M - Squat T - Chins and Row W - Bench, Chins and Row T - Chins and Row F - Deads
  16. Squats cure depression Squats were used to build beyond blue and lifeline. If you are not happy, you should do squats.
  17. Almost a man now Troy.
  18. He means Chalk. and all the cool people use chalk.
  19. the possible Issue with mixed grip (rare) is a torn bicep. Having that hand turned out puts the bicep in a kind of flexed position. Gotta be careful not to bend the arms when doing deads (some people have a habbit close to lockout on really heavy weights to flex that arm a little) It's a common injury in Strongman comps during the tyre flip events. as you grab the tyre with both hands, palms up and lift to get it off the ground. mixed grip has nothing to do with shoulders. Using straps will probably help you lift more weight, but it just masks a weakness. masking a weakness leads to injury
  20. regular up to 3 plates, then mixed for me. conventional stance
  21. To give you an idea... Southside of Brisbane = Western Suburbs of Sydney West side of brisbane = Western suburbs of Sydney Individual burbs... Caboolture, ipswitch, Logan = Mt Druitt, Bankstown, Merrylands
  22. Google Damon Hayhow he runs a business that does this. business means money I'm sure you understand people won't just dump all the info online. But Markos posted the high level detail above.. Food, exercise and dicipline
  23. not specific details.. but it's all based around strength training. Damons programs are usually high volume from what I've seen in another clients training log. it's all based around the big lifts, but there are sessions on leg press for example. There are no DB flys, forearm curls, calf raises, tricep kickbacks etc etc
  24. I want a front bar to practice repairs and painting on. Condition doesn't matter as long as it is in one piece. Looking for a freebie here..
  25. on a serious note though... Brisbane employment is getting harder and harder due to all the Campbell Newmann cuts and general economic slow down. Humidity rarely drops below 103% GC is full of crime The entire 2 weeks of winter gets pretty cold in Brisbane... well you'll think so after about 2 years up here. I did the same as you are thinking back in 2006. Do it..!
