FYI - the twin turbo V12 liberty I mentioned was going to get a VQ30DET initially, but it wouldn't fit. The 1GZ V12 with 2 TD06s fit. The VQ is quite tall I believe. Doubt it would fit under an FD bonnet.. Although.. he did get on under an S15 bonnet. V12 TT
  10. I go light. for like 2 weeks I slowly increase the weights. I find that if I've been sick and get straight back in to it, the symptoms of the flu come back slightly and stay around for longer.
  11. Markos is the least Greek Greek I've ever met. and I've known alot of *insert surname ending in-opoulos here*
  12. Hey chief. Normally PPP is done 1 lift per session.. lol Monday squat and accessories Wednesday Bench and accessories Friday Dead and accessories How are you programming it? re: hands - got any chalk? if not get some. if gym doesn't allow it, you can get a chalk/alcho/gel stuff from outdoors type stores where they sell rock climbing gear. that stuff doesn't leave a mess. Those bars at PTC cost more than a years membership to most commercial gyms. edit - benching by yourself - if you don't have pins to drop it on to, make sure you DON'T put the collars on the end of the bar. so if you get pinned, you just tilt one side down, it dumps the plates and be ready for when it flings over to the other side.. lol

LSX or GTFO Sell RB26 to some skyline pleb. LS1 weighs less than an RB20det, sits further back in the engine bay, and there is a small following so you might be able to find some support for the LSx range of motors. Speak to Castle Hill Exhaust.
  16. Hi. Are you new to the internet?
  17. There is a whole community of us mate. you'll end up there soon enough. "one of us!! one of us!!" Due to a re-occuring back injury I had been thinking of giving it up. Got home today to find a certificate for my National Record. by default really as there was no-one else as old as me in the same weight division... but still, seeing it has ignited fire again. It was 4 months between injuries... I'm going to make a proper effort at sorting it out this time so lets see how long I can go before half throwing the towel in again.
  18. if you went through a RWC by workshop "X" then it MUST be re-inspected by the same workshop. and they can ONLY recheck the items they marked as a FAIL in the first inspection. and there is no second cost. Now that you have had the car inspected, if you don't fix those things within 14 days and have the same place inspect, they are requierd by law to forward the details of your car to QLD Transport where they will cancel the rego (if it is currently registered). you can get the faults fixed elsewhere if you want, but it must be re-inspected by the same place.
  19. 1750kg, slushomatic, 2.5L low comp (kind of) motor. it's never going to have anything usefull under 3000rpm.
  20. Seems you've been hit with a dose of what the experts call "Life"
  21. do you have the ghost of whaley McWhale in your car doing this mid corner?
  22. those gains in 6 weeks might be a little difficult but sounds like you left maybe 10-20kg total in the tank. I don't know if I'd call it a disadvantage... it makes for stronger, larger quads. A wider stance tends to use hamstrings and arse/hips alot more than narrow. a narrow squatter uses quads as the major power. so if you learn to squat wider, you use quads and hip drive making for a more POWERFUL lift. and probably heavier weight. but like anything it takes some getting used to and expect to start with half the weight and struggle until all those supporting muscles catch up. Also requires some flexibility in the inner thighs and so forth. you'll find that your knees will probably cave in when coming up from a squat when squatting wide with a challenging wight for a while. If you want to lift the most weight, then you'll probably want to use the best leverages you can. sumo stance deadlift means the bar moves a lot less than conventional, but it is not easy to lift more weight... it becomes a hip exercise more so than legs and back. Bench, arch or no arch, wide grip or closer... lots of ways to lift more weight.. just depends what you are comfortable with. If you want the opinion of someone who is injured more than they would like... Stick to what you are comfortable with and don't try chasing numbers by adjusting the way you do something cause someone else is. Markos hasn't mentioned it but I will. He has put together a Progressive Program for strength training that many of us utilize. It would be worth your $20 (or possibly lower for an iPhone app if that is ready yet).
  23. general rule of thumb that most strength people will say is squat 140, bench 100, dead 180 (in the US they say squat 300lbs, bench 200lbs, dead 400lbs) That is a Novice level. that is for single reps obviously. From what I've seen, it is quite common for people to be able to squat 160, bench 100 and dead 180. for the average male who is newish to lifting and is an average 5'9" and say 75-85kg. It really is a "piece of string" question though. I'd say that when you get to a 4 plate squat, 3 plate bench, 5 plate dead (180, 140, 220) at a body weight of 80-85kg you wouldn't come last in a comp, but you'd be closer to the bottom of the list than that top.. ask me how I know.. lol Heel for the squat is helpful if you don't have as much flexibility in your ankle area. if you squat with a narrow stance, you tend to have your knees going forward more which means more bending at the ankle. a wider stance will have you sitting back more so your ankles don't bend as much. example.. olmypic lifter style squat Powerlifter squat.
