  1. The high tops give a feel of security/stability at the ankle too. doubt it would actually help the squat but the tightness around your foot and ankle give a sense of stability.. much like knee sleeves. They don't give any rebound to help you squat more but the tightness and warmth they provide around the knee feel good mang. Personal choice though.
  2. There are 2 types of chucks (converse all stars) - one that has a thick sole and one that is eally thin. If you don't need the raised heel of a weight lifting shoe, you're better of getting the thin sole chucks as this allows you to use them for deadlift too and keeps you as close to the ground as possible. I squat in heeled shoes.. the Do wins mentioned by Markos. for deadlifts, I have a pair of Puma shoes which have like a 3mm sole so I use them. Lifting in a regular gym will not allow the deadlift slippers. pics.. regular chucks (obviously these come in non boot form) Slim
  3. f**king lol. marketing genious man...
  4. I think he means sacroiliac joint Mate I'd just suggest voltaren 25's and rest for about 3 days. then physio if muscular pain, or an osteo or chiro if spinal joint/disc pain. I'm supposed to be competing this coming weekend and I've redone my injury with 2 sets of 3 on 140.. lol No idea why. Warmed up, stretched, lifted with perfect form, wasn't heavy... just f**ked!
  5. Trozzle - Anatoly is the only one wearing weightlifting shoes. look close, you'll see they have a heel. Google images will show you heaps. These are my ones.
  6. Dezz - I tried smolov jr for 3 weeks. google it.
  7. Not everyone is text book. depends on your body and flexibility. example. this is NOT how you should deadlift (in general) but the man deadlifts over 400kg Some people are stronger in a certain position than others. if Arnie can/could squat more with his upper back rounded and kind of rolling forward, then that suits him. most of us mortals should look at doing it with good form to prevent injury back injuries suck take my word for it.
  8. your calves and hams will prevent it from "separating" as you call it. parallel or full squats is a huge argument not worth opening. Especially since this is not about someone looking for 3 white lights after squatting to show it was below parallel and competition legal. if you are to look at it from a "training" point of view, when doing bicep curls, do you curl the bar from your thighs up to mid point and call it a rep or do you curl till forearm and bicep meet? squat to parallel will give your legs a workout, but if you have the flexibility (which with stretching and mobility work 99% of people without a birth defect or fused joint due to an operation could get) then squatting to full depth where your calves and hams prevent you from going any lower will build strength and muscles that half squats can't. look at some old school photos of the greats squating. Arnie Dave Draper (Pic title says tom platz but it's not) Tom Platz (I'm sure you've seen his legs) Anatoly Pisarenko (you may not know of him)
  9. squats are too hard.
  10. good work Mike. Have a look into Smolov Jr for Bench if you want a change and some more volume. it goes for 3 weeks and you bench 4 times a week. I've got it as a spreadsheet which fills out the reps and sets and weight for you once you put in your current 1rm if you want it. I've got my last session tonight on the 3rd week. Bit painful. I'll see if it has had any strength benefits at Bust a nut II in a few weeks.

  12. Ghosty. But use a broom stick. It's the best thing for shoulders, chest, elbows, wrists. Trust me I'm 35 and falling apart and this keeps me together a little longer. I start right out the edges, and do 3 reps, then move in a little from both side and repeat till my traps are burning. Do it every time you walk past the broom stick. or at least before and after any training. and during if you can between sets.
  13. Competed at GPC Nationals about a week ago. Weighed in at 91.4kg Squat - 190kg Bench - 110 kg lol Dead - 220kg All PBs for a proper 3 lift comp. As single lifts, the squat was a 5kg pb, bench was 5kg under pb, dead was 2.2kg under pb. Most importantly I didn't cripple myself. Next one is end of August. Hopefully bench will improve if I can complete my lifting plan without elbows and shoulders falling apart.
  14. Speak to user lilcrash
  15. This will change. You'll see.
  16. I like that mikes log is also the squat talk thread. If you are squatting to increase the size of your quads for the reason of looks, then don't worry too much about butt wink. But the flexibility and mobility issue is something that we will all eventually need to sort out. Best to start BEFORE you're told to do it by a physio which you've gone to visit due to injuries or chronic pain.
  17. $3500 including new radiator and hoses, new engine oil and filters. used stock RB25 ecu which is included in the total above All working fine. I'd suggest spending an extra $100 or so and getting new hoses for the heater hoses at the back of the engine/firewall area. http://amauto.com.au/home.html Price may be higher depending on what motors are available at the time. I've had no issues apart from the hose at the back falling apart (which they warned me about) hence the suggestion. Because I kept the stock diff, it feels much more alive than the R33 I've had in the past. Gearbox has been fine. I'd highly recommend it.
  18. plates? colour?
  19. 90 at your height will be well chunky
  20. So are we supposed to do our own research to find out info on this car to keep an eye out for it? Perhaps you should put more information about this Myth.
  21. Nice work Mike. I came up 91.4 on Calibrated scales on Sunday.
  22. I have an idea. Stao - send him a new turbo (no deposit or anything) lilknob - you install new turbo, then send your old one back. If you don't send the old one back, Stao gives me your postal address, I beat you sensless and post pics in this thread and have the title changed to "Thread for my brain problems" Everyone's happy. Honestly, if I were Stao I'd refund you the cost of the turbo purchase to stop these retarded posts. Actually, how much do you want for the turbo? I'll give you a stock RB25 turbo plus cash for your hypergear turbo. Then I'll send it to Stao for a free replacement to a current stock item. Then he can pull apart the "faulty" turbo and investigate if he had enabled the "Make car run like a bag of shit" setting on the compressor wheel when it was initially assembled.
  23. Does that pyrmid say "BEEF - rarely" I'm going to assume they mean to have BEEF cooked Rare.... with every meal (as it's at the top). Because the only other alternative is that they mean rarely eat Beef which makes no sense at all and only a retard (or vegetarian) would draw up such a stupid chart. or is that from that "Hey I blend veges and drink it and have lost weight" guy.
  24. lol buy a $300 RB25 turbo and put it on there. or send the hypergear one back for a free replacement.
