  1. I am pretty sure not all skylines are wound back. I know when I bought mine i had it inspected and the mechanic said the wear and tear on the car matches the kms. Even if u do look after the engine it is inevitable that someday something mechanical will fail. I am just curious if this has happened to anyone yet due to old age and not from being thrashed. Or will we have to wait another 5-10 years before we start seeing these problems. Is there anyone who is into several 100,000 kms yet?
  2. Hi all, Just wondering how many kilometers some skylines have done out there, and what problems they have run into due to age and fatigue. Would be interesting to know how many 100,000 ks we can expect before any major dramas. I would have liked to set this up as a poll but not sure how to. Mine has done 75,000kms with no engine troubles so far.
  3. I had my black plate off today (the one that covers the spark plugs) and decided to check the cam cover screws. I got at least 1/2 a turn out of each one and some up to 2 turns. I had minor oil seepage around the cam covers, I cleaned it up and hopfully the problem will be solved.
  4. I have the phillips HID system which came with the car (23,000 volts). Did not realise how expensive the systems are but they sure do change night into day. The 2 pictures I posted are of the lights mounted on the front bar and the 2nd pic is the switch which i had to wire in to use the lights. They were ment to be switched on and off with a remote control which did not come with the car. I had to rewire the control box to bypass the remote sensor and then the switch simply provides an earth for the relays to turn on. Though one of my globes has blown too. Not sure where to get one from either. Damo
  5. I was at a set of lights while checking out this hot chick walking by wearing practically nothing. She was looking and enjoyed the attention when her fat ugly friend beside her ruined the moment with the call "PERVERT." I think she was jealous I wasnt looking at her.
  6. Thanks guys, What is the PCV valve btw?
  7. I pulled off my stock BOV today and found an oily residue on the inside of the BOV and the pipe that vents back into the air intake (The wider pipe of the 2 that comes off the BOV, not the thin one that goes to the intake manifold). What could be causing this? Is it normal? Damo
  8. You have made a wise choice, your judgement serves you well.
  9. I recommend getting a wheels magazine and memorising a few 0-100 and 1/4 mile times for the many hundreds of cars out there. At the back there is a plethora of times/speeds for these cars. A stock R33 is good for 6.2 sec 0-100 and a low 14 1/4 mile. U will be able to beat any base model falcon or commodore no probs. HSVs etc will be a bit more of a challenge through to the GTS where u might want to spend a few extra grand to be competitive. To beat a WRX I believe will just come down to the driver. Good luck
  10. Well good luck with it all
  11. I have a similar noise to what u have described but it is from the clutch. It goes away when u depress the clutch pedal. Have u tried this yet? Otherwise I have no idea on what it may be.
  12. Hi all, I am looking for a place to get the ol' line a make over. Can anyone recommend a place in Sydney to get some good quality paint work done. Thanks
  13. Well heres the damage, repairs $1836 if I claim insurance then $1000 excess then i loose my 60% no claim to 40% for next year therefore my insurance will increase from $2040 to just over $3000 next year. Then the following year to approx $2500. So over 2 years i will be paying and extra $1500 on my premiums. Might just have to fork out the extra $830 on top of the excess and not make a claim. Insurance companies are a ripoff. No point making a claim unless over $4000 in damages me thinks. One good thing to come out of this is i found out i am entitled to a free windscreen. Will definately be taking advantage of this as i have a large stone chip in it. Expensive exercise this will be, feel like i should be sueing god like billy connely.
  14. Thanks for the help guys, I have the dent masters from penrith coming out to give me a quote sometime this week. I will let u know the damage. Fingers crossed. Damo
  15. I do have insurance, think i will get a quote first and figure out if it is worth claiming. no point loosing a rating if it aint going to be more than 1000 to fix.
  16. So it is possible to fix the dents u r saying. Thats a relief. I cant imagine been in a storm with hail the size of cricket balls. I was s%&t scared as it was (for the safety of my car i mean) . Though i did put on my sunnies to protect my eyes, I was sure the glass was going to smash. Did anyone else in sydney see this storm. I was in the Vineyard area just off windsor rd?
  17. I was caught in a large hail storm in western sydney today, now i have about 20 dings over my roof, bonnet, boot and left side front quater panel. The hail was about twice the size of golf balls so u can imagine the damage. Has anyone delt with this before, is it worth fixing, can it be fixed, should i claim insurance? Also can i do it myself? Please give me some feedback, I am extremly upset at the moment. I feel like my pride and joy has been destroyed. All that time and effort I have put into it, keeping it clean and modifications has just gone to waste. Damo
  18. I have the same prob. with the inside wearing quicker. If i look at the car from the rear u can notice the inwards camber on the wheels. My last set of tyres actually shredded about 2 inches wide the whole way round the inboard of the right tyre. was pretty nasty. made a hell of a noise belting around in the wheel arches. Checkout www.whiteline.com.au. they have some great suspension setups and camber kits etc. Damo
  19. http://www.militec-1.com/ has anyone ever tried this stuff or heard of it before, looks pretty good. Might be worth a try in the ol' line. Very expensive though but could save money in the long run. Damo
  20. Let us know how u go darrrin if u go ahead with it. I am looking at doing the same. would be good to know if u can feel a difference Damo
  21. 235s all round 45 profile. Wish I had of gotten wider on the rear (255+) now but am still happy. 19 inches, would have loved to but the price goes up so much from 17 - 19. At least my speedo should still be pretty accurate with the 17s.
  22. Good work MRK25T, Makes mine look pretty simple. How did u give a direct link to the xl file. When i tried to attach the file it said only certain formats are allowed and that was not one of them. Hence I had to zip it.
  23. I have posted my fuel figures in the automotive general section here is the link fuel figures
  24. They are lensos. 17x9 inch. Got them for $1400 with tyres and fitted. They are similar to the HR109s but I thought these had a better finish on them.
  25. Here are some fuel figures since April when I first got my car. You will see one entry where I did 1200km on 160 LTS, No my tank is not that big, I just did not have enough cash to be filling up each time. so i just made a record each time i put in some juice of how many Lts and how many Ks. then added it up when I filled it to the top. U will notice the better fuel consumption on my drive to melbourne and back to sydney. As for the dump pipe and pod filter, cant say it made much difference. When I get the PFC I will repost with some new figures. Hopefully the money it saves me in fuel will more than pay for its self.
