Awesome. That's exactly what I am trying to do now so it's good to know that somebody have done it this way without any problems. While that's in the works, what spark plugs did you guys use? I read in the big +T thread that you had to run a higher rating spark plug or something so you don't run into problems. What did you guys end up running and what is the gap for them? Thanks.

Cheers for the pics WYTSKY. By the looks of it, it seems that you either had a bung in the side of your block and you just used that, or you tapped into your block because your oil return is exactly where the stock oil return location is. Damn! But thank you very much nonetheless mate. Does anyone have any pictures of their setup which uses the VCT as their oil return or other means as their oil return? Would be much appreciated.
-
That's alright mate. I think I might have solved the problem by T-piecing into the VCT anyway. I'll post up some pictures once I've finalised it because I've only made the dummy and it looks like it might just work True. Thanks for the heads up. I'm pretty much trying my best not to go down the path of tapping into the block, so hopefully I might not need to worry about the filings

Yeh for the oil pressure I'm pretty set: T-piece into the oil pressure sensor and run a braided line from that, behind the block, and to the turbo. As for the VCT, that's interesting that the R34 have a blanking bolt instead. Doesn't it run VCT anymore or something? But it's good to know that you guys have had no problem with going into the VCT. The problem on a skyline is that the sump is a one piece, ie there is no sump pan per se. Thus, I've been told, it makes it impossible to try to remove the sump without taking out the engine because the oil pickup gets in the way. Unless I want to lift the engine a few cms and probably can just make it, but I don't know how much piping and shit I have to take off. But what do you guys think about my earlier plan to try and get the filing out by other means such as magnetic oil filters with more frequent change, magnetic sump plug, and more frequent oil change? Do you rkon that will stop all the filing from getting through or am I missing something important?
-
Some pictures would be excellent mate! Would help me a ton. Yeh I'm not going to tap into the sump, I'm tapping into the block just above the sump if I end up taking that route. But anywho I would be really grateful if you can get the pictures! Appeciate it.

So if they didn't tap out your block and you didn't have the blanking bolt, what did you end up using for the oil return? I think I'll get Pirtek to come around and see if they can sort something out with T-piecing into the VCT. I know that T-piecing into the VCT would be the most suitable solution, but I have just been told that it's a prick of a job, but doable. So since they'll be doing it, they'll probably make something custom to make it easier. If I were to end up tapping into the engine as a last case scenario, I would definately be taking as much precaution as possible. Probably use a magnetic sump plug, magnetic oil filters (change every 500km or something for the first few weeks) and flush the engine with some shit oil and end up changing the oil every 2500km until probably 10000km or there is no longer any signs of metal. I know it ends up being pricey, but I guess it's better than taking the engine out.

Thanks for the quick response guys. Appreciate it.

Sorry for the huge image size BLOCK That is the picture of my block. As you can see in the bottom left-mid, all I have is an outline of a red marking for where the stock oil return would be. If that is the meaning of "tapped off" then I'm sorry I might have misunderstood the term. I understand that some/maybe all other RB25DE have a bung for the oil return, but that red-ish marking is all I have. But yeh, I'll most likely end up getting the Pirtek/Enzed guy to do it. Thanks for that advice, seriously was worried for a sec because I wasn't quite sure how I should go about it. PS: I can't sleep. Not stressed out, but I'm also not at peace with this whole thing until you made me feel warm and fuzzy lol Ohh btw, still haven't answered my question about whether taking the sump out is possible or not in the R33 without taking out the engine. Because as turbo x-trail pointed out, I might still have to clean the sump. or did you pretty much not bother with that Mr Eps?
-
Well if I drill a hole into the block for the oil return, wouldn't some of the filings go into the block? Mind you I will be vacumming while drilling so that the majority of the filings will be out, but wouldn't some of it still fall into the sump? But you gave me an idea because I might get the pirtek/enzed guy to come around and see if maybe he can work out something easy to get the initial idea of having the oil return into the VCT working. Cheers.

Thanks for the quick reply mate, but can you clarify if I need the engine out or lifted to get the sump out? Because it seems that I could most likely get the sump out by removing the sway bar and sliding it forward, but I'm not 100% sure if it would hit the pickup while trying to remove sump. Cheers, Rian

Hey guys, I've been trying to find the answer to this all night and I have yet to find a post that definitively says yes or no. Anywho, can you remove the sump from an RB25 in the R33 without lifting or removing the engine? It would seem that the sump itself could slide out by just taking out the sway bar, but would the pickup in the sump be in the way? Thanks guys, Rian

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you guys who have previously done the +T conversion can help me clarify a few things. I'm currently in the process of doing the conversion but I just needed some answers in regards to the oil return line. Initially my plan was to use a T-piece into the VCT oil return line but after doing a dummy fit, I was told, and by looking at the fact that the engine mount is in the way, that it is a prick to try and get the line from the turbo to the VCT. So now I think the last resort is to tap into the block, however I have a few questions. What did you guys do in the regards to the metal filings? Did you take out the sump out? Is it possible to take the sump out in an R33 without lifiting the engine? or Did you take any other particular measures to get rid of the filings? or Is it pretty safe to do so without the filings having much effect? Anyways, thanks for your time and help. I appreciate it, Rian

The only reason I wanted to buy a brand new one was because for the few days that I have been looking around, the majority of them are selling for $1200-$1500 second hand, which is not that far off from the price of a brand new one on eBay. So why wouldn't you consider buying a new. But damn man. Thanks for that link. You quite literrally saved me a shitload of dosh! I am assuming that if I was to get it proffessionally tuned, I don't need the hand controller? Thankk youu veryy muchos!!

Hey guys, I don't really know where to post this question as it doesn't really have much to do with the Skyline itself so I apologise in advance, but I'm just wondering whether the APEXi Power FC for the RB25DET is really discontinued or not. The reason I'm asking is because I am really confused how a product which have been proclaimed by everybody, and even tuners who I recently contacted, to be discontinued could be popping up on sites such as Nengun and eBay as brand new. I have asked one of the seller on eBay and he said to me that they actually still do make it albeit in limited numbers and only to certain distributors. Is this true? I don't want to believe him only to find that it's actually a replica of the original. Anyway, I apologise if this have been answered or cleared up before but I have tried to research both on the internet and the forum, but ever since 2006-2007ish when everyone said that it had been discontinued, I can't find much update or information on them. Once again, sorry if it's a bit off topic but I'm currently on the market for a PFC and just need this to be cleared up before I make any purchase :S Thanks guys, Rian

Just been looking around for a turbo for a +T conversion and I need clarification on whether a NEO turbo is steel-wheel with ball bearings or not. So many people on the internet saying it is while some argue it's not. So can any of you clarify for me? Cheers

Well if the honeycomb inside the muffler is loose then I'm just going to go to the exhaust shop and demand a new one. It's only been on the car for 3 wks tops and if it's already loose, then it's obviously faulty. Cheers. Any other suggestion or ideas?
-
So it's natural for my exhaust to do what I stated above? Because initially I thought oh it's probably the exhaust just wearing in a little and getting louder, but then what's with the freeway problem? Cheers.
-
Hey guys. A couple of month back I had a problem with my exhaust sounding like a tin can with a bunch of rocks in it. It ended up being the muffler being busted and so I got a new one put on. For a week there was no problem with the new muffler but now the muffler is going AWOL on me..... again! For a starter, my new muffler gets louder as I drive along. What I mean by that is that when I got the muffler first put on, it sounded nice and smooth like it should any time, all of the time. Now, when I first drive my car, it sounds smooth like it was originally but as I get more and more into my journey, my exhaust gets louder, especially if I've given it some gas. Now obviously I thought there was a leak in my exhaust, like a hole somewhere on it, but then why wouldn't it just sound the same all of the time and not get louder only as I drive? Secondly, after a trip on the freeway for approx. 3km or more sitting on 100, my exhaust starts to make a, I don't really know how to explain it, reverberating? sound. Like I can hear the exhaust reverberate more and more as I drive along on the freeway. Then when I finally get off the freeway and stop, when I take off again, there is this huge rattling/vibrating noise coming off my exhaust. But this noise and rattle/vibration ONLY comes after I've been on the freeway. So what the crap is wrong with my exhaust!?!? I know I should take it back to the exhaust place, and I will, but I just need some help deducing what the hell the problem is because it's sort of hard to 'show' the guy what the problem is since it only happens on certain occasions. Thanks for all your help! BTW, I have checked the cat and it's still intact so thats not the problem.
-
Just an update, I took the cat and cat-back off this wkend. Turned out that my cat was fine So then I turned my attention to the cat-back and I can definately hear rocks/sands in there rattling around when I shake it around. However, no matter how hard I shook or tapped it, the stuff inside just wouldn't come out. So now I'm starting to think that the muffler might just start to collapse on me. Sigh. And I thought this was going to be a quick backyard job. Now I have to bring it into the exhaust shop and see if they can put a new muffler on it. Any idea how much mufflers are roughly?
-
ahhh awesome doesn't sound like a huge problem I guess. Phew! Like you guys were saying, I am completely embarassed to drive it around sounding so crap. There is a really small revband between 2000-3000 RPM right now where it doesnt make such a crap sound. Not so fun being restricted to that in a skyline hahah. Now I just have to drive it around like a granny till exams is over in 2 wk. ugggh! Cheeers guys! Much appreciated!

Hey guys I just got a quick question about my exhaust. Recently my exhaust have started to sound really bad. Like at lower-ish RPMs, there would be a slight rattle coming from the back of the car. So I got under my car and started inspecting the heatshields and whatnot for any loose items that could potentially rattle. However, it turned out that there are rocks???? in my exhaust. When I swing my exhaust side to side, I just hear these clattering noises from inside! What could this possibly mean?? Is it a collapsed muffler, my cat breaking down or something else? If (hopefully) it is just the cat, is it just a simple case of taking the exhaust off and try to get the debris out or has it potentially damaged the inside of the muffler? Thanks for your help guys. Hopefully I can get this fixed soon because it absolutely sounds horrific when I put my foot down now.
