  1. I had this problem recently with the idle hunting and then dying turned out to be the battery wasnt that great and when the alarm was set it emptied it abit too much. That tripped the computer too much and wrecked it. but airflow meter is a definate possibility. if you know someone with a skyline switch the airflow meter over.
  2. cheers mate had a chronic look there and cant find anything around there, so maybe it is gone?? unless it is somewhere else on a 33, if someone could confirm this that would be great. there are some plugs etc around there but im pretty sure they are for the old spoiler up spoiler down motors that have been taken out, unless the sensor is on the same loom as these plugs? cheers for your help so far.
  3. Hey guys I have found the problem to the inside sensor, for the whole 3 years ive owned the car I always wandered what the mini airflowmeter looking thing in the glovey was and then it hit me haha so ive pluged that in and the problem still isnt fixed but that doesnt come up in the diagnostic anymore so its just the outside air sensor and sunload sensor, I dont think there will be a prob with the sunload sensor, BUT where is the outside air sensor located??? and also when I run a diagnostic and it comes thru to no. 5 showing the temps there are only 2 readings the first at 30 which seems abit werd because its definitly cant be 30 and the second 18, then it goes back to the menu part where it says 5. So I suppose my next step is to find the outside air sensor right, I have looked but cant find it, also what does it look like?? Please help me coas im dying to take my car out 4 a blat. Cheers for your help so far guys.
  4. Hey thanks man yeah it would be good if someone can confirm if there is a sensor there because that must be the climate control problem if it is missing, seems abit werd tho because there are no wires there or anything. cheers.
  5. Hey mate thanks for that, have the cover off and the only thing that leads to that vent is a pipe.... so does this mean the sensor is missing or is it in a different place?
  6. hi guys thort id try and pick your brains and see if anyone knows much about air con in these skylines. when I change from the different settings from demister to feet it makes a click click clack noise from somewhere it sounds somewhere at the top of the dash, I have done a search and apparently it is the plastic cogs on the stepper motors, whats involved in getting these stepper motors out?? Also when switching the climate control it is only cold at 18 and the rest are all warm which is annoying, I have done a diagnostics on it and its coming up with outside air sensor inside air sensor sunload sensor (not sure if this would be faulty because I did the test when it was in my garage.) How can I find the other 2 sensors? and how can I test them? Any help would be much appreciated, im sure with all the r33's around theres gota be someone whos had these probs aswell.
  7. wont all the oil just drain out of it then and if you run the pipe up then down the air wont go thorough the oil would it?
  8. Hey guys I got given this catch can and yes before you ask I have done a search, just wondering why it has 3 ports out of it, I supose its not a catch can but a oil sperater, anyway what do you guys think and what is the nipple at the bottom for? should I turf this and get something else?
  9. There quite noticable, like you jolt in your seat. it feels more like a afm/ boost cut..... If this is the case im saying its the computer cos thats ratted out once before and the autosparkie repaired it.
  10. Cheers man the plugs were checked not long ago but I will check them again. could it be the airflow meter if the hot hot air was blowing back into the filter? no no noises but normal boost noises and no smoke that I could notice it was at nite tho.
  11. Hey guys took my car for a bit of a blat on sat nite through some mean windy roads on the boost, on the brakes, on the boost,on the brakes etc went for quite sometime probly half an hour not absolutly ringing my car out but not taking it that easy either. near the end my car started joltiong as soon as it came onto boost so I pulled over and my turbo was glowing red like a peice of metal when you heat it up with a gas torch. I take it this is bad and I was giving my car abit much?...... So when the car goes to boost on high boost now it jolts but no lights or anything come up on the dash so nothing seems to be cutting out, idles fine etc. It is a series 1 gtst with standard turbo fmic bigger fuel pump etc. When the car jolts the boost jumps back from 12 to 5 psi. Just wondering what you guys think and if this is the turbo which I think it probly is?I will check all the hoses etc incase of boost leak. Cheers guys any help on this would be much appreciated.
  12. mine were 2nd handers so with all my luck yes they didnt come with them suppose its another thing 2 do.
  13. thats werd so there is a differece looks like ill have to make some sorta bracket up.
  14. hey man so saying you dont need them do you mean you left your hoses hanging there cos on my r33 they bolt to the shock?
  15. I dont see a bracket on them for the brake hoses, what do you do there?
  16. i couldnt help myself so I just bought a front pair of hks hypermax coilovers so Ill see how that goes if no luck i will just sell them but suppose thats a start of fixing the problem with a bit of luck.
  17. WOWOWOWOW wat a coincidence or how ever you spell it i jus bought a pair of front 1's for my r33 they seemed like a good deal so i took my chances that they would be good and thank you for confirming that. by the way what is a set worth? cheers
  18. Hey man doing that would mean removing the inner gaurd linings for food and i cant o that becos all the rocks and crap spray up and through onto the side skirts and wen you open the door they grind on the skirt with the rocks between and it scratches them to death.
  19. Hey guys just to give you a update ive had mine on my car for over 6 months now done about 5000kms no worries so far. i should really post a pik up of the materpeice.
  20. Hey man as above ill check the offset and get back to ya. I couldnt seem to find a post on that you would be able to do a quick recap would you? car still drives nice and handles mint on the front apart from this crappy problem. cheers for your help so far.
  21. hey man chhers for your input ill check the offset and no they are fairly straight. nah the wheels dont sit that far in the car it is the outer edge getting chewed though. but I will check offset. still doesnt explain why it didnt happen before though? when you push on the car it is still stiff as. thanx for your input so far man.
  22. sorry almost forgot to add my cars got 17 inch wheels with 235's on the front by (i think 45's) so nothing that a skyline should have problems fitting in the guards.
  23. Hi guys ive got a skyline r33 sedan with king springs in the front and over time my car has begun to rub on the front first it was one side that has been quite chewed on the outer edge by the guard the other side has been fine then just started doing it all of a sudden too, I have put a 10mm spacer in the top of the springs which has eliminated the problem abit but when on the open rd and conering hard and theres a small bump itl rub im getting quite concearned beacause one side has chomped the top of the gaurd lining and looks like its ready to start on a wiring loom up there! the springs are the king springs low, not super low and they were fine for about 3 years used to take 5 ppl in the car heaps and no probs the shocks & springs were new at 80000kms and the car has now done 135000, when i was putting the spacers in the shocks rebound still seemed ok but im not a suspension specialist. Any help is appreciated for a start I ask should this suspension be able to have that much movement!??? and also do springs really sag or could it be something ive missed like a worn bush or something. Thanks guys I hope you can help.
  24. Thanks for your help so far guys, So you guys are stating tyre presure is crucial but what about suspension does this not have a big impact on my current setup-does my car not make enough power to be worrying about the suspension for traction ect??
  25. I was just about to ask the same question so what your saying by having positive boost is to sit at the line idling then just put your foot down and let out the clutch at a certain revs so the cars on boost OR to sit at then line holding i suppose the 3-4 grand mark and then releasing the clutch as well as putting the foot down??
