  1. Unfortunately, tangles82, your posts have upset a number of others on this forum. You've noted that you're not worried about "pissing people off" but some consideration should be given for people in Muz's place who are not just financially out of pocket, but quite possibly emotionally affected by the stresses and strains of being in such a situation. The fact remains that the information given to him in the first instance was that there would be little problem in obtaining compliance certification and that he'd have his car on the road in a reasonable amount of time after purchase and importing, and he (and others) have gone with this information in good faith, and have since been burnt by doing so. Well said. The fact also remains that the importer was originally "positive" about the whole deal, all smiles etc., etc.,............ else why would the customer lay out 35 big ones? Then when everthing was going swimmingly there was a tiny hitch. That is to say the vehicle in question was inexplicably held up on the docks in Japan, no biggy & no explanation provided here on the forum at least, for some obscure reason not being loaded, shipped etc., in an orderly fashion. A suspicious doubter in hindsight might think to themselves that this is were the no-name importer had the "penny drop". A suspicious person may also think to themselves (but not out loud) that the no-name importer made a commercial decision to; knowing the potential hiccup, run with the agreement, take the money & see how it went, having decided inhouse the end game would not be at their cost or at least subsidised. A suspi.. person would become further wired when on delivery the importer (noname) did not get the vehicle prepped/complianced himself & have it waitng on the lot all bright & shiny for the [edit righteously edit] tumescent customer to come & sweep away. Instead, the story goes something like " there she is mate, give us the rest of our dosh she's all yours bro, drop her round to "noname" complier & she's all apples, enjoy." When I picked up my import from SVI, Mick Martin in Brissy, IT WAS ALL DONE, ready to drive away soon as I did the rego (a formality in which I was babysat through with the importer's rep), no more to pay. That is the service I would expect everytime. Happy Australia Day & cheers dudes. (Cracks another beer ftw) GW
  2. And.................now this morning there is a red jobbie in the front rank at the caryard on Boulder road right near me! I'm over it. Wot's going on this is getting far too ordinary? As heads out door to go take a look at latest offering, on the way to do very important other stuff of course..
  3. Lovely lovely car, Jim Berry clutch package, paint shop...........in that order & allus good! Cheers GW
  4. Got one in a GTIR, caned as required, been in there at least 2 years, since install upped turbo/boost, added Pfc in the interim, 172kw@4wd nf'n prob. My boy said clutch goes better/smoother with more power available. Has the owner talked to Jim? Rules are you gotta tell Jim what power you is aim'n for & his clutch packages are built accordingly. My 2c Cheers GW
  5. Spotted White job, RS4 going down Boulder road Kalgoorlie precinct this arvo. Waved madly................. again, no response noted............. . Oldest son also spotted it further out heading towards Kambalda. looks like it lives out there. Suspect it may be the same job we saw in Merriden the other week. That's 3 wagons I know of in the Eastern Goldfields so far, woohoo! GW
  6. Standard metric "Johnny wheelbrace" plus 2 foot (30cm) of aluminum tube, nominal bore 25 ~ 32mm 2mm wall thickness maybe, (ex scrap bin) will do the trick. It's all about controlled leverage, handy for repelling boarders also. My 2c. Cheers GW Edit : Too many beers.
  7. Did a run to Perth last week, got 300k outta 42ltrs, Kal to Merriden, happy with that, dunno what it does in the city & not concerned as you have to drive harder to avoid road rage & keep up with the others right? Cheers GW
  8. You know you own a Skyline (read RB anything) when ordinary Nissan parts are the last resort. first choice is Apexi, Bride, Cusco, Dolphin, Exeedy (fill the gaps) 5Zigen, don't matter if you can afford them or not! F#$KN A. Cheers GW
  9. "Why cant i find a a-pillar for the Stagea". I also would like to know the answer to this question, doubt it is anything to do with the factory tweeter but I suspect it is too hard because the required peice goes all the way back to behind the drivers door centre column at least in my case. Most of these delectable goodies, such as the one shown in your post for your Tojo are of the short & sweet-as variety, being one part of a two-peice setup, the second peice being undisturbed & original. Damn. If you find a source post it up. Cheers & good luck. GW
  10. Ref initial fuel gauge issue........bugger. Ref rectification attempts...........as above. Assuming the ecu has not somehow been brain-washed with initial incorrect zeroing of panel meter (I can't see how as it is only a piece of plastic imho, others may know different) then for what it is worth I would be wondering ; 1. With all due respect to who-ever is involved, did the workshop actually do anything more on the second attempt. If not then no problem, just do what you wanted to do to fuel gauge pointer with known fuel level in tank. 2. If they have done something more then what was that something? Can it be reversed to initial problem status? 3. If workshop has moved pointer in accordance with correct fuel level & this problem is still there then something else has been inadvertently/unknowingly disturbed during the second rectification activity. If this is the case to find problem you will need to get back in there with multi-meter & signal injector (instro's love em) find out what is 0-100% (maybe 1-5vdc, no idea, never been there) by accessing signal from sender with multi-meter in tow & inject these values. Start by calibrating indicator separate from sender/transducer. If you get that working reconnect & view result. If problem still there it is not the indicator. Check out sender cct look for missing/crossed/incorrectly placed wiring to earth maybe? Find yourself an instro-tech/revhead worth his salt (well seasoned) in your area, go armed with beer (Crownies or Coronas I'd guess) & get stuck in. PS: Mechatronics graduate/revheads are also very useful but often do not have access to the required test equipment. Cheers GW
  11. Dunno if this should be a new topic or not & apologies if wrath of moderators surfaces but After blundering around in other threads looking for mail order genuine or off the shelf gas struts for bonnet on my 1998 Stagea S1 I took the advice given by Duncan & others to see a strut man. As there are none where I live I called on Greg Bell at Unit 5/35 Guthrie Street Osbourne Park phone 9445-9119 <[email protected]> last week. 15 minutes later & $180.00 lighter (no complaints - very happy) I have new struts fitted. Simple proceedure, unclip old, reclip new, all done. The details courtesy Greg for ordering by description/generic noname brand is/are as follows; Struts 400mm long. Energy 370 newtons. Clipon fitting Angled ball, 10mm dia. Same both ends. Closest alternative vehicle using these struts, Nissan Maxima '95 onwards. Getting excited I asked Greg to look & quote rear bootlid. Not so easy as braketing is uncommon. Never mind, the important s*@t is in the front, right? Cheers GW
  12. Well........we spotted a white or silver s2 eastbound in Merriden 1500hrs 09-01-2008 (last Wednesday arvo for the rest of yas') as we were coming out of Chicken Treat, we was westbound, we were first Stag through after they re-opened bushfire stretch Coolgardie/Southern Cross I reckon. My son actually did the spotting, me gob smacked waved like mad but no response noted. Wow, my very first "spotted" of a live one other than me spotting me of course! Cheers GW
  13. Wilkinson Suspension, Sean, knows my Stagea, (got HICAS lockbars too) also knows GTRs' so there are at least three mobs on the money. cheers GW PS: Take your Bilstein suspension bits with you, at least to get them checked for useablity? my 2c.
  14. Yeh mate, thanks for asking, Very very lucky (to quote perpetrators' insurance co), was cut out of her car & lifted through roof opening, mobile now, fightin fit she thinks, in caged tiger mode quite often, over it bigtime, ready for work but back injury taking a while to mend. Next car is gunna be a Hummer if she has her way. Cheers GW
  15. global research by meself has highlighted the peculiar statistic that some people are born with one a#$$%%le, some with two. Whilst not being a pre-requisite for some occupations it has been found to be most beneficial in many instances. The force members who are unfortunate enough to be one short generally leave the service early. Having said this I has also discovered that others when really determined can grow a second orifice with a lot of effort & eventually "fit the bill" so to speak. Does anyone know any mobile phones currently available with a plain voice recording function, would be so handy in awkward situations................ Lets see, my next mobile fone needs SD card (removeable evidence), camera, stealth tape, Taser function would be nice. Cheers Anonemouse Please excuse the dribble, it's too hot to work in my shed an I'm bored.
  16. Cheers Arep, so my best bet is to find a strut Johnnie & go from there? Was hoping to order a pair & do "homefit" but sounds like a good excuse to do a run to the metropolis, when the fires are out. Thanks & cheers GW
  17. Hi Cactu5, have you heard any complaints from the builders about your money not working at the bank? If you still owe money that is even better. If it (rebuild) goes bad & you haven't given the builders an opportunity to put it on a hoist & check it out or given them the chance to rectify hiccups you are basically "majorly screwed" for any future problems/developments/claims. Take your ship back & get it checked by the builders. Never mind the agro. My 2c Cheers & good luck, GW
  18. Would this help? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fi...sor-t83819.html Hope so. Cheers GW
  19. Hi there, I cannot comment on your oil circuit (me unskilled) except to ask how did it used to work(?) but as far as the measure checks go & without immersing electrical bits; Oil temp can be checked by pulling temp sensor & placing sensor tip in mixture of ice cubes/water gently stirring while still connected & elect/power on. Should read 0 deg. C or thereabouts. (You will need to run a temporary neg wire from body of sensor to bat neg for each sensor test if sensor single wire type.) Next place sensor tip in boiling water, don't burn pinkies allow to stabilise/warm up (1-2 minutes max) should read 100 deg C. Next, find someone with portable test pump & standard pressure gauge 0-10bar (like me-instrument basher) & pump the pressure sensor gently (doan wanna pump the guts out of it) up through the measuring range. Compare against test gauge. If allus good I would be happy to have your oil system in my car. Cheers GW PS: I live beyond the Black Stump so cannot drop in to help.
  20. Hi, without pics of damage to go by, here are some generic instructions, coil spring wont come off/take off as long as you do not undo the top jesus nut on your shockie. That's the biggy in the top of strut tower middle. Usually. Jack up front of car safely. Both wheels. Get Wheel off on offended side, susp should be extended/relaxed by now. To drop suspension damper assy out in one piece; Bonnet must be up at this point. 2, 3 or 4 maybe nuts on top pillar easy access over wheel arch, 12mm spanner maybe. Before ripping the damper/spring assy out in one piece......Mark pillar/shock assy top plate for re-install in same orientation. One nut or nut & bolt 17mm spanner maybe on lower end of damper/spring assy. Undo this lot, disconnect any brake bits attached or hindering extraction & pull whole assy down/wiggle/out. Crowbar jemmie could be handy depending how bent things are? Have you looked through SK's very informative suspension threads btw. good place to start in there. Cheers GW
  21. Yep, it is a big clunker hi current capacity soleniod. Got one on the L'cruiser, no sign of battery been mounted in back in previous life by any chance? I ask 'cos that solenoid looks like it is only half wired imho. cheers GW
  22. Hi, have you had a look/search in this here folder on page one matey? <Faq: Apexi Powerfc - Frequently Asked Questions.> Lotta good stuff in there by some very knowledgeable dudes, keep you amused for hours. Cheers GW
  23. From Webster Dictionary. Cheers GW
  24. Global research over many years by meself has confirmed that people involved in accidents are not taking readings of worry gauges immediately prior to or at time of accidents, likewise nine out of ten accidents are unplanned & not the fault of the Nissan driver. Following on from that valuable research project my current extensive research reveals that insurance companies will latch on (like mud crabs) to any point that will assist in denying a righteous claim even if it is their own Grandmother making said claim, therefore it is very bad kharma to speculate. Best edit these posts referring to speculative elements of this incident & best of luck with your claim mate. See attached my daughter's escape module. Cheers GW
