Stagea Series 2 / M35 Digital Tv Upgrade
bigkevracer replied to chook's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I didn't say you need it, but surely you want it. I know I get annoyed looking at that leaf when I can't understand Japanese. That is DEFINITELY on my list, already spoken to Brad about it. If I don't get the stereo sorted soon I'll get him to do it independent of the stereo. Of course I need my car back first... -
Dad's ordered an Amarok to tow his new boat... too bad the wait for the Amarok keeps expanding, even though he's already paid his deposit... been waiting 6 weeks when he was told 3-4 week wait... What toy do you have in mind? Is this in addition to the R32? Northshore + 1, though they don't offer a warranty that I'm aware of. I had the car inspected interstate, and the only issue with the car I saw in the photos. As soon as I looked at the car in person (when I flew there to pick it up), I fixed that issue... gave the rear plastic a bump, and it fit properly again

Stagea Series 2 / M35 Digital Tv Upgrade

Buy the HD tuner. Connect it. What state are you in? You can probably get someone to help you fit it. Totally depends on what you want. I'm looking at replacing my deck with a DVD player which outputs to the screen. I want HD TV and DVD through that screen, as well as iPod. So what you need is: - Leon's HD TV tuner (~$250), depending on what state you're in you can also talk to Brad (SA). Ask Leon for details. - Deck which plays DVDs and has rear AV out. I'm looking at the JVC AVX-77, as it has DVD, iPod and Bluetooth. If you're willing to forgo Bluetooth you can get some cheaper decks. - Specdock iPod dock, available direct from Specdock, price varies. Contact them direct (do a search). If you have the TV screen you'll also want someone to translate it to English. Check out the link in Brad's (ducati02) signature above. Whoever is in your local state should be able to give you a hand. And remember to search! -
My Birthday Present- Rs Four S '00

Keen to know how they feel, but it'd be pretty hard to convince me to go with anything other than BCs considering the rep they get on here. I'd love to go Teins, but sounds like they're just not worth the extra ~$1k over BCs. Tempted to order in time for the arrival of my sway bars... -
Same. I just figured it was to store random stuff, and thats what I use it for. I've never removed the cargo blind, so never thought about storing it there. Like Matt, I didn't put the two together :S

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
bigkevracer replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Iain, AM Performance wanted to start doing M35 exhausts, so they're using my car to develop the jigs etc. I've asked for an exhaust which doesn't drone on highways, and have been told not to complain if it's too quiet They're custom making the whole system, from the turbo back, and will sell it in sections so you can buy a dump, mid or end pipe. I'm really impressed with the way Andrew makes them, he can make a straight through exhaust and uses special sound deadening material to make his own muffler around the outside (or inside, depending on what you want, this is what he does on R32 GT-R exhausts and it looks amazing!). I'll have photos when he's done if you're keen. Best part is I know its great quality, and I can spec it how I like, so I'm getting it slightly customised. You got an external wastegate Aaron? -

Informeter turned up, wired up and ready to install. But best part is... MY FLANGES ARE HERE!!!!! Being the first M35 for AM Performance, I've had to wait for everything you usually wouldn't, including getting the flanges laser cut. Making it easier for the next person through! Should be ready to pick up tomorrow or Sunday (might have to beg Brad to give me a lift to pick it up ) and sounds like it'll be worth the wait. Straight through 3" no restriction -
Genius Ian! I never thought of that! I'll have to empty the sides, but AWESOME!

Awesome, cheers Brad. Don't worry, I'll be doing the conversion, it's a matter of when not if! Trying to finalise what I'm doing and ordering the bits, think its probably easier to do the whole thing (TV tuner, translation, stereo and iPod dock) in one go. -

Have mine now, thanks Ruby! Still want a sticker though! Looks like I'm about 50/50 to have a car but I'll come anyway and bring the cameras if I can just grab lifts with someone, or even swap around? I think Billy was offering to let me drive... someone has to drive it properly -
Haltech Platinum Sprint 500
bigkevracer replied to bigkevracer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Well that's part of what I'm following up with him, I doubt for me its worth doing all the development even if it will be better, but for someone like you it might be useful. Depends on the development costs I guess, its not much dearer than an Emanage to buy the unit. Have a look at the Platinum Sprint 500 Spec Sheet, has some promising stuff on it. It has two generic programmable inputs, and looking in the manual it mentions "Digital Pulsed Inputs". Been a while since I did electrical engineering, not sure if you can get the same thing out of it! -
This will probably be shot down pretty quick, but if its a new product it might be a new option. I've been speaking to an Adelaide tuner about doing something for the M35. Initially I was asking about Emanage, but he was reluctant as apparently they use an addition/subtraction table instead of dictating their own. His suggestion was a Haltech standalone, however when I pointed out all the difficulties, he went back to the drawing board, however did speak to Haltech. Haltech's response: I wouldn't think the VQ25 would be the same as the VQ35, since nothing seems the same engine/ECU wide, but I figured it might be worth asking the question about the trigger system. If they do share a trigger system, we would be able to run the Platinum Sprint, which is under $1k, almost as a stand alone, with the standard ECU controlling the auto. Under this setup, the Platinum Sprint 500 controls spark and fuel directly, so no addition/subtraction tables, and apparently 'even if the main ECU tries to introduce a speed cut it has no effect.' Haltech web site: http://www.haltech.com.au/index.php/product/platinum-sprint-series/platinum-sprint-500 I spoke to Craig about his previous experience with the Haltech, and it sounds like if you get the right product it might work. He did get it working, but he was using a Platinum Interceptor and it wasn't working properly with the AFM signal. The only thing I'm not sure about with this is the throttle. Would this be an issue? Anyone interested in this or know anything about it?
-
Still doesn't explain how they get it to 3.6L
-
I've seen a 3.6L TEPS built VQ25DET on a link on here. The Flash web site that stole heavily from Fast and the Furious... If VQ35 crank and rods make it 3.25L, what else do they do to them?
-
Yeah I don't think engine oil matters as long as its the right grade and weight. Gearbox oil on the other hand...
-
Toshi, if you're getting the ECUs remapped by TEPS, is it possible to get other items that TEPS have made for NM35s? Can you get a list of parts available from TEPS for NM35s? There are plenty of threads on here about their stuff, and I'd be very interested in a few items...
-
At that price very interested. How many people would you need for the group buy and how long would you need the ECU for? Are you sending them to TEPS? Or are you doing them locally with TEPS data? If its all local I couldn't imagine postage would be that bad.
-
Sorry, that's what I meant. Although, how do they decrease the sensitivity once the restriction is removed? By controlling how open the throttle is? Does it actually do nothing on a car with the restriction, or it just doesn't help with the restriction? Just thinking how it'd work, I'm curious whether it'd give you the ability to make the throttle restriction worse? (Not that anyone would want to do that, but you know...)
-
According to Mr Amino at G-Zone it'll work if the throttle restriction is removed though. Toshi, there are people on here interested in a remap if you can do it for a decent price. If you have the reflash equipment and can use it to remove speed and throttle restrictions you probably double your market. F-con sounds interesting too, but I can't be bothered driving to Sydney to get the tune done unfortunately. I'm looking at local solutions for now.
-
G-Zone quote that price on their web site. Check out the recent thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/362400-g-zone-for-m35s/ 44,000 yen ($506) for a standard remap, plus 20,000 yen ($230) for throttle restriction removal and speed limiter removal. Most people on here just want the second part, they don't need the first part because they have an Emanage. Not sure if that's possible? And yes, below 3000 rpm for throttle restriction.
-
Well we'd obviously like it as cheap as possible Toshi, but you need to stay in business! Do your sums and work out how much you need to charge? G-Zone charge about $450+ depending on spec for a complete remap. We discussed this in a different thread last week and there were a lot of people with Emanage's who would be interested in just removing throttle and speed limiter, not a remap. Is this possible?
-
Seems to be getting better lately though I think?
-
Main thing is to remove throttle restriction and speed limit Toshi. If you can do that you'll have a queue! A map for Australian fuel taking into account our mods, and being able to be done in Australia, is very appealing. How much are you looking at charging? How much would you have to charge to make it worthwhile?
-
Now I'm more confused... they both say SR20DET, just different models. Surely one SR20DET is the same as another? :s Doesn't matter, my oil filter is right, so I'm all good!
-
Is that why some filter relocation kits and oil cooler kits come with different sized filters? I always figured it was a convenience thing...
