Any Gran Turismo 5 Players Out There?
bigkevracer replied to Stage Name's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Nah becacuse it was a brand new console, I had to do a console update, then a GT5 update, then another GT5 update. Painful... I couldn't work out how to avoid the updates on the PS3, if I didn't do them it wouldn't let me even play the game! -
Any Gran Turismo 5 Players Out There?

I was waiting for someone to bring that up... GT5 is a better driving game, but I think Forza is a better racing game. Sure, the physics are technically better in GT5, but I almost think they should move towards picking some great driving roads and exploiting what they're best at. The most enjoyable drives I've had in GT5 have all been on those old school windy driving road style tracks. Put it on a racetrack though and the GT5 races just lack something. That and I like the more advanced tuning and modding capabilities of Forza. My XBox only shit itself once, and sure that was a pain in the arse, but since then its fine. My PS3 experience was worse... pick it up and take it home to setup when GT5 came out, turn it on "need an update". Updates aren't optional on XBox, where if you don't do them you can play locally but just not online, they're mandatory. This updating process continued when I tried to run GT5, and I think all up I waited an hour or two before I could play GT5 because of these damn updates! -
Well that solves that then. It is on my list anyway. I've never had anything this 'high tech', so I'm just kind of feeling my way and erring on the side of caution. Doesn't help when you read/hear/get told different things and you're trying to work out what the best move is! All very confusing sometimes... I have bought myself more time now anyway, so might do the G-Zone anyway. I didn't know whether the G-Zone would be, in theory, a good ECU remap once Scotty's settled on the mechanical side of things. Would potentially eliminate the need for the Vmanage at least? Or just work better with the variable valve timing? As an aside, did you get the V-manage working at all Scotty?

Awesome. Second cruise in and already we're going to see a smackdown! -
Yeah I don't want to kill Mr Miaggi - more use to us if he doesn't have heart failure! I can organise to get yours done if you want. I'll have to go Emanage now so I don't lean out the engine. Never figured swapping an exhaust would necessitate a full tune, and the exhaust is being done now. If yours is good, I'll get mine done and sell the Emanage, seems like theres as market. Let me know what you want to do and I'm happy to ask Mr Miaggi and see what he can do. Sounds like he knows the cars which is a definite plus. If you get this done will you ditch the Emanage (and Vmanage if you ever ended up getting it to work?).

Mr Amino got back to me today, and this is the throttle controller he's suggesting we'd need if he removed the restriction: http://pivotjp.com/product/thf_c/lineup.html Apparently he has already dealt with more than 200 Stageas, and through his experiences NM35s get their best improvements with upgraded intercoolers and exhausts. According to him "no more (or less) exchanges are needed". I'm not 100% if I'm going to do this now, as I need a faster solution so I'm looking at just ordering an Emanage. I might do this later to get rid of the speed cut and throttle restriction, might even be able to sell off the Emanage and run this instead when I'm finished with engine mods?

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?

Yep, that link I posted seems cheapest now. Do you need the MAP sensor, injector looms, or any other sensors? -

Love ebay sometimes. Emanage Ultimate: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200601687506&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Universal Harness: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GReddy-EMANAGE-ULTIMATE-PLUG-PLAY-UNIVERSAL-HARNESS-KIT-/380145872089?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item588275acd9 MAP Sensor: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-GReddy-Boost-Map-Sensor-Emanage-Ultimate-/170588741949?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b7e1a13d (Did see this cheaper sensor, but looks dodgy as! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/C1-Map-Pressure-Boost-Map-Sensor-Emanage-Blue-Ultimate-/150588755648?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item230fca0ec0) Think thats it for an Emanage install? Oh, and Informeter: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290392723040&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Sounds like it might be a useful acquisition? -

Yeah agree, but it was just timing, nothing complex! Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Off to buy an Emanage then... any suggestions where? -

I just spoke to Andrew, he was recommending a tune just with the exhaust. Sounds like I can do it without doing injectors etc, but excuse my ignorance can I get it tuned without going Emanage? I've only ever had one car tuned, and that was the R31 after I did the engine rebuild. Not exactly sophisticated so it was just done at Ultra Tune. -

Well that sounds like verdict is rip it off until I have done injectors, emanage and fuel pump? DAMMIT! And I was so looking forward to dyno day! Wouldn't have thought a standard car with plenum spacer, exhaust and suction pipe would have maxed out the injectors? -

Sure why not. I'm such a carbon addict I'd probably be happy to swap mine out for carbon fibre copies -

So... the long term solution is obviously injectors, fuel pump and emanage. What's the short term solution? Take it off (which I'm sure will be a pain in the arse!)? -

M35 Things I Need Cleared Up!
bigkevracer replied to bLaQ.bOi's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
If you can get a Nismo or Impul that would be great. But sounds like so far G-Zone are the best bet and they prefer to reflash/swap over, and do slightly custom upgrades. -

Whats wrong with your 3 dials? My boost gauge isn't working, but I found a thread on Scotty's soldering fix, so I'll do that, get it working, then think about changing it Why's that Aaron? Too much airflow? I'm confused... First time I heard that. -

My insurance company is pretty good. Said that if I want to do a mod, as long as the car stays road legal and I let them know (which is as much for their protection as mine, because they get insured as non-standard accessories) they have no problems. Think I'll do the GT-R upgrade then and get it engineered. What are people doing for the rears? Slotteds and good pads? In other news, GOODIES! Nismo dash and slimline fan turned up today, but can't do anything with them until I get the car back AM Performance are also going to tackle the intake pipe into the airbox, and looking at a couple of alternatives. Can't wait to pick the car up, should be awesome! -
