Blue M35 - Wrecking
bigkevracer replied to scotty nm35's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Yeah that's probably what I'll end up doing. The bracket looks pretty week though, not sure how it'll respond. All good! -
Thanks Dale. How much hassle was it then Dale? I've seen temp switches recommended for Nissans, so that side of it shouldn't be too hard? What else is involved? You make it sound like once it's installed and wired properly it's easy! Were the thermos really necessary on a radiator that big though? That's a lot bigger than what I've looked at so far... What about before/after temps? I bought mine through Jesse Streeter, looks like it was ~$100 plus shipping (had it sent with some other stuff)

Looks pretty cool. Now you just need some kind of lower skirt to finish it off

Thread bump. I'm looking at overhauling mine too, to coincide with installing Scotty's bleed kit when it it available. I'm also looking at upgrading the system. I've already got a Nismo VQ35 thermostat, and I'll be replacing the radiator and associated hoses. I've read everything I could find on the topic and what I'm after is some follow up info from people who have upgraded theirs. What I'd like to know from those who have replaced their radiators already is: For an upgrade which is the better radiator? I'm looking at the Mishimoto unit (2 row, 36mm core), but I did read that Koyo make a similar radiator. Those using the Mishimoto with the thermo fans (which I think is just Craig?), are there any real gains? Any recommended places to get the radiator? Z1 Motorsports look to be one of the cheaper, at ~AU$430 with hoses and freight. Cheers!

Scotty, have you still got the air con belt tensioner bracket? If so, how much? -
What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
bigkevracer replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Possibly, otherwise I know dad used a local sheet metal mob to do some work on his rally car, might be worth chasing down. For it to be worth making locally it'd need to be less than $200 each, since you can get them for ~US$170 plus shipping. -

Replaced the accessories and air con belts with new Gates Micro V belts according to Cam's helpful tutorial: http://m35stagea.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=88&p=1867&hilit=belt#p1867 Used the same part numbers as Andy. Was pretty easy. There is some squealing on startup now which goes away very quickly. I think the bracket for the tensioner on the aircon belt is cactus though, looks bent, so may need to replace this depending on how it goes. Also thought it was interesting that Gates' instructions recommend replacing the tensioners with the belt - has anyone ever done this? Also didn't bother putting the undertray back on. Looks pretty sad and sorry for itself. Think we need to look into getting something like this made locally: -
2002 M35 Stagea Axis - Eoi/4 Sale
bigkevracer replied to Paramour's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
I can vouch for this car. Paramour was nice enough to take me for a ride when I picked mine up from Northshore, and this was the reason I ended up picking up the Whiteline sway bars myself. Handles really well for a car of this equipment level and weight. lol -

Good to hear of another one! If you want to go for a drive in mine let me know, exhaust in mine worked out awesome! -
Isn't OP in Adelaide? If so, pods are legal in SA. Jury is out on performance, but I have tested higher AFM voltages on pod than air box. That said, Alex is right, air box doesn't seem to be a restriction at 350kw. In terms of noise, I've had a few people comment on how good the induction noise is on my car with pod. Noise is better with pod than without.

Pretty pissed about that Jase. What's the bet good old Aust Post deliver Monday, when we can't fit them for a week Ah well. All good things come to those that wait.

Cool thanks Alex. About what I figured but once you find where it is I'm guessing it'll be alright for a few days. -

Does hitting the AFM cut cause any long term issues? -

Took Moby for a drive, and filled up the tank. Got the EVC setup. I really should learn to read instructions and push the combination to write the settings to the ROM. It's now setup for normal boost at 15PSI and max boost at 15.5PSI. I don't want to go any higher than that on the stock turbo, lest it blow apart. It feels brilliant from 1500rpm now, really pulls and goes, which makes the throttle restriction worse... Good thing it'll be leaving soon! The turbo is making far fewer weird noises now, less 'helicopter' noises, less sneezing. It feels like it's either on, or off, with no slur in between. I like it! -

Looks pretty good Theo. WOT input looks interesting, mine doesn't have that. Although the Innovate's have a built in data logger, whereas the Auto Meter seems to want one connected (which is probably the output you'd use for the F-con). But at the end of the day it depends on whether the tuner wants to use it constantly, or whether you just use one of those ones you can stick in the tailpipe for the day. -

I like your style. I want to fit an oil pressure/temp gauge somewhere, might try and move the DVD ROM, but I'm keeping the factory screen. Picked the car up from AM Performance tonight. Andrew had pulled off the intake and traced the flange, so while he gets the flanges laser cut I get the car back so I can change the belts and do some other bits. Was good to get it back and go for a proper drive, when I wasn't in as big a hurry as when I drove it there. Only the second time I'd driven it since the EVC6 went in. Obviously there are still a few things to sort out with the EVC. Firstly, I noticed the settings had zeroed out. I reset it all, and then noticed that every time the ignition is switched off it wipes the settings. I'll download the PowerWriter software too, and see if I can work out a decent solution. Second, once setup for 15PSI peak/optimum boost, I notice it now makes 1PSI at ~1500rpm according to the EVC display. Boost feels like it comes on a lot stronger, and it feels much nicer to drive, especially higher in the rev range. Thirdly, since I run a pod and the Turbosmart dual port blow off valve (plumbed back and adjusted properly), I've had some chirping and turbo noise which is apparently not a good thing. I spoke to Turbosmart and they blamed it on the pod, not the spring or anything else setup wise. I notice since the EVC went in this is virtually eliminated. So all in all, very happy with the HKS EVC6, and once it's setup properly should be an awesome addition. Car certainly feels sluggish on the default 11PSI though! -
Thanks Jase! SA guys, you all have my mobile number. They're being delivered to the old man's business at Dry Creek, and I'll be about the place Saturday if they're delivered in time.

So you've discounted the flex fuel idea? The stoich tune is what I was looking at. I wouldn't imagine you could hook a wideband up and get it to self tune throughout the rev range. Otherwise why would you need someone to tune it? -
Iphone Won't Send Emails When Overseas
bigkevracer replied to macdog's topic in PC & Games Discussion
No is the answer to almost all your questions. No, you can't use mail.gmail.com as the outgoing mail server on your bigpond account. No, you can't send as your bigpond address from a Gmail account via the iPhone interface, although you should be able to do it using the Gmail app (there is an official one) or the Gmail web interface. By far your best option is to setup a Gmail or Google Apps account, and check your Bigpond account using this, and migrate across to the Google account. Either that or have this conversation with Telstra, and see if they have a config that will work with other networks. -

It won't tune itself obviously, but my understanding is that the ECU is able to adjust fuel mixtures based on feedback from the wideband. -

Get a wideband with a programmable narrowband output. You can then wire the narrowband output into where the O2 sensor was, and the wideband output into the fcon.
