Pretty sure they dicked me around last time I looked for parts. How much is a standard BOV worth though? I'm not prepared to pay $100 for a second hand one when I can pay $150 for a new one, and know I won't have an issue. Anyone know the going rate?
-
Nah busy tonight, might aim for a weekend. Or if I can get one locally at the ~$150 I'm looking at for a new one on ebay, I'll just get one. Not worth continually stuffing around.
-
Agree, but how it works is more important. Fine, I'll just order the Kompact with the soft spring. Should fix the issue (I hope).
-
Yep. Have for a while. Just trying to work out how best to fix it. Aaron keeps trying to save me money

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?

Fun Fact: Brooke and Levi's first child will be born at the same hospital On an unrelated topic... Nice work Steve! Sounds like a busy couple of weeks! Bet it's worth it! What did you hook the catch cans up to? One on the intake sure, but what's the other connected to? And more importantly, where did you mount them? -
I must admit that when I first read through this thread I drew conclusions from the text, but didn't listen to Chris's audio recording. At Billy's insistence I listened today and it's EXACTLY the noise I get, so I'm 99% sure it's the BOV. So my options are either to buy a new one (Nissan or aftermarket), swap with someone and test, or block off and test. I hear aluminum cans work a treat Aaron and Scotty, this is what I was on about on Saturday night. This is what I was told by both Turbosmart and MTQ. I know you keep saying that I can run the Kompact with the softer spring Aaron, but I don't get why they keep saying the Kompact is only for lower boost applications? Both say they're suitable for Stageas, Kompact runs $153 plus shipping, Dual Port is $310 plus shipping. Neither will exactly break the bank but I'm guessing they're cheaper/easier than a new factory Nissan BOV. As far as I can tell, Turbosmart are the easiest to get plumb back BOVs. I know there are Blitz, Greddy, etc, but they don't seem to do plumb backs.

You don't try hard enough Iain! n00b question, but are there adjustable wishbones available?

Get BC BR coilovers from Just Jap. Seems to be the best solution. -

Guess that means my alarm isn't getting sorted for a week or two! Damn priorities! Congrats to Brad and his wife! Glenn and his wife also had their baby a week or so ago, a little girl called Brooke. Anyone else due? I think I'm going to sell the Stag before my partner gets pregnant... -
Go Pros have their place (I mean, look how many Ken Block destroys through putting them in stupid places ) but they're no match for a proper lens with a proper recording unit. Radcam records in sharp 1080p and gives you control over colour/exposure, leaving you with less to do in post production. It's a bit dearer than a Go Pro, but hey, you get what you pay for.

I've just got back from Melbourne, where I was 'lucky' enough to meet Aaron, Scotty and Ironpaw, and go for a ride with Aaron and Ironpaw. All I can say is WOW. These two cars are pretty serious road cars! Aaron's was first up, and what I liked most is all the little things that were done, and all the little differences. There was a lot of basic things he'd done on his car that I could do to mine and they'd cost my stuff all. A trip to Jaycar is in order... The power was impressive but the delivery is even better! Much less lag than mine, it just tears off like a rocket, with so much torque it's incredible! The way it performs manual changes is much improved and pretty savage for an auto. Could almost have believed it was manual... And the noises were cool. Sounded like a performance car, which I liked. Just an all round great car, even if he is trying to nut out a couple of issues. Ironpaw's, by comparison, didn't seem to have the same power delivery or gearbox as Aaron's. I'm not sure if this is down to the way it was driven, but I think Ironpaw hasn't done the auto valve body upgrade or much else in the way of gearbox? Ironpaw is only 15kW down on Aaron, but it felt like a bit more. And then we got to a corner. The new Silk Road's are insane! So stiff through the corners that it felt like it responded brilliantly, yet somehow was fairly compliant and dare I say it acceptable around the roads we took. This was the first one I'd been in with coilovers though, so I'm not sure if I'd get this experience from any car with coilovers, but having just fitted sway bars and driven mine (on stock suspension) through the hills, mine pales in comparison to this one. I think Aaron's power and delivery with Ironpaw's suspension, braking and cornering performance is my new goal. Absolutely brilliant, both of them, in their own different ways. I very much appreciated the hospitality of Aaron, Scotty and Ironpaw. Never met me before, but took me for a drive in their precious rides, and I even got to see inside Scotty's cave of wonders Great to see a couple of the more developed M35s in Aus, and thanks to all involved. Now I better get back to work! MOAR POWAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! -
Well despite the issues others have mentioned, will it even physically fit? Isn't the 2JZ an inline 6, whereas the VQ25 is a V6, which would make it shorter? And if you're using a 2JZ + Manual trans with aftermarket engine management and a cable throttle, I don't see why you'd have any issues with limp mode or anything. I don't know if you can use the M35 computer to just run accessories, windows, etc and use the aftermarket stuff for engine and trans? For all the headaches you'd have, I think you'd be far better off with a VQ35 and a turbo, maybe HKS kit like someone on here has (but hasn't fitted because he's slack and gone to Japan... )

Post A Pic Of Your Stagea Thread

Some good looking Stag photos posted lately. Particularly like the R34 front, with the stock guards and bonnet it just looks nice and clean Big Fella, photos don't look bad. Funny, we were giving Luke shit on Saturday night. If you want to annoy him just tell him Ryan says he's a shit photographer, and all he does is push a button -
Yep, Carlton. "Melbourne Business School". Hangman's Tour at the Gaol tonight. Gonna bag me a ghost! BTW I did actually as a question related to this thread, that got lost in the bullshit... does the HKS oil filter have a magnet in it? I'm running the Nismo at the moment and will be due for a change soon.

That time of the month Aaron?

I've read a bit about your car, but Iain is on the same page as me And since when does any Aussie let the truth get in the way of a good ribbing?

Well I'm in Melbourne. Got in last night. Hotel ends up being a bit average in the rooms, but the staff are really nice and there was a free drink waiting for me on the bar last night Saw Tutankhamen in the museum today, thought it was a bit overpriced but pretty interesting. Got tickets tomorrow night for the Melbourne Gaol Hangmans Tour. Great spot, short walk to where I'm doing my Google Adwords training, the whole reason for coming over, Lygon Street, the Gaol and the Museum. Saturday morning is the Aquarium, then heading to Narre Warren. Haven't been to Melbourne with time to see the place in 10 years, so not too bad. Might catch up with Aaron since he has time on his hand, and Jethro if the Silk Roads haven't knocked all of his teeth out -
Hey Aaron, I hear Craig's got a good one for sale Why go Hypergear? Don't want to go GTX? Does the HKS filter have the magnet in it? Time to get ready for my next service I think, stacked on the K's since I got it!

I got a lift last time, so I'm sure SOMEONE can give Tangles a lift this time... I'm happy to if he wants to upgrade to an M35 for the day -
Yeah I already asked that, so that's the way I'll be going. Someone (Leon I think) found a supplier at a bit over $1100 delivered...
