Nissan - go genuine

.... And the brake leak? Aren't you relieved to have had a dangerous safety issue found?
-
Just be aware of the potential engineering/insurance implications; From what I understand it's seen as removing a 'safety device' and needs to be engineered. Quite a few in Adelaide have been caught out on this one. It should be relatively cheap/easy to get this modification engineered if required. The risk is up to you (and probably depends on where you live). In most situations where HICAS is acting up, it tends to be because something is worn (HICAS racks are kwown to get 'slop' in them), incorrectly aligned (steering wheel angle sensor) or not operating correctly (dead caps in the HICAS ECU).

I'm just going off what I've read - that all butterfly systems are illegal. Maybe it's only in some states. That said - if it were legal dB when fully-open, probably fine. I know some cars have these factory fitted - but obviously that's circumventing the issue. A quick search picks up these threads discussing it. Mostly referring to Sydney, but yeah -- http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php/topic/26849-xforce-varex/ http://www.cruisingbrisbane.com/forum/topic/56629-xforce-varex/ http://forum.pulsar.org.au/showthread.php/88591-X-Force-Varex-Systems?p=1704456&viewfull=1#post1704456 http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=472819&view=findpost&p=6046258 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3593.msg37503.html?PHPSESSID=52b3f55a77d6450fe763de9a4a289b7d#msg37503 http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=710055&st=0&p=1287175953entry1287175953 http://www.gtrydaz.com/forum/topic/adjustable-exhaust-valves-eg.-varex,-apexi-now-illegal-579138/ The last has an interesting comment - not sure how relevant in SA? I think EPA is national?

I didnt think these were legal - much like the X-force Varex aren't legal? Something to consider if you have to go through Regency anyway ..

They're finally starting to get moving with my R34 now - rear has been pulled out straight on the jig, and they've started drilling out & unwelding the rear panels at the factory weld-points ready to replace from the donor car that's sitting next to it. Each time I see it, I can't believe how long it's been since I've felt some turbo-power - I miss it terribly. It's been 71 days since the accident, and whilst an 80FWKW SSS is good enough for a daily, but it doesn't remotely compare

R34Gtt Couldn't Get Up Steep Wet Driveway -No Traction
jrm replied to rondofj's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My question is - what happened to your traction control system? Anytime I've been in that situation, traction control would kick in and make it fine. -
When i was looking around, the best value for money seemed to be around the $350-400K. The market seemed to be pretty stagnant there and prices steadily dropping. I was able to get what I think was a fairly reasonable price for what I bought (3 bedroom, master with ensuite/wir, separate lounge, double-garage, pergola out the back, full back to base alarm & ducted aircon). I'm always interested to hear what people say about topics like this - feel free to wax lyrical all you like, Andrew - you seem to know your stuff From my very recent experience of the last 5-6 years of renting in Adelaide - it's gotten progressively harder to get an affordable place to live - and the rental prices just keep going up and up. What is out there seems to get snapped up quickly. Not sure if that follows what real estate agents are seeing, or maybe its just the type of properties I like/want ..
-
Rent money is dead money - I did the sums on houseloan costs vs renting and it just didnt add up. Given I'm actually ending up with a bigger/better house than I'm renting, and ultimately barely paying any different to what I am now in terms of loan payments. Admittedly, I'll now be up for council rates, water (which my current rental charges me anyway), etc - it still is made up for by owning my own home. As for garages - damn it was hard to find something in a location I was happy with with a double-garage (not a carport). Also managed to get it with a drive-through out the back - even better. Just a shame the ceilings aren't really high enough for a hoist .. hahaha ..
-
That's why I bought. Keys in another 9 days ..
-
Geez Andrew - you're making me worry about having just bought a house. Seemed to me with the market as it is, I got it a lot cheaper than I would have a few years ago... As my existing rental has increased from $350/wk to $420/wk over the past 2 years - I'm just glad to get out of the rental market. What is out there is bloody expensive.

I'm getting neck massage and some sort of electrical muscle stimulation in my lower-back twice a week which definitely helps. It also can end up with me having splitting migraines and unable to function for the rest of the day From me? About 2km down Prospect Rd according to GoogleMaps. That said, I'm about to move into my new place in Mansfield Park soon. Get the keys on the 24th. A suburb with perhaps not the best reputation (especially around Hanson Rd), but given the price, and quality of the house - it was hard to pass up.
-
I hear you. My back and neck are definitely more sore in this colder weather .. Now up to 8 weeks since the accident, and I'm really not that much better..
-
Whilst they're the same fitment wise - I was fairly sure they use different spring/damper rates due to the different weight distribution in the sedan vs coupe. At least from the factory - not sure about aftermarket whether they'd do anything specific.
-
I posted a picture of a nismo one earlier, so they must - yes. Infact, I was fairly sure the GTR nismo one was cheaper. Either way, given yours has obviously been repinned for a GTR cluster, surely must be possible to put it back!
-
That matches the GTR layout - could definitely be a GTR cluster - especially given the tacho. That's awfully strange - makes me wonder the history of your car! Also explains why the nismo GTT cluster doesn't work...

Go Motul 8100 Xmax 10w40
-
Hrmmm .. I'm sure I ran across a thread 3+ years ago that listed how to do it. I seem to recall it was pretty extensive repinning between the various sides of the cluster to allow for the speedo/tacho/oil-pressure gauge moving between sides. I'm sure with the assistance of the right tools & the workshop manual it wouldn't be too hard to figure out - but I was sure there was a tutorial or the like already floating around .. Edit: I've done some pretty extensive googling around and for the life of my I can't find it though
-
The direct replacement R34 GTT nismo gauge cluster should be the same as stock in terms of the gauge placement. That it's not is probably why it doesn't work: Stock: R34 GTT Nismo Cluster: What's worth noting is that GTR clusters have the speedo/tacho on the opposite side than the GTT: That suggests to me that this could be a GTR cluster? I'm fairly sure there's a write-up somewhere on these forums about converting/adapting the wiring from a GTR cluster to the GTT cluster - so if that's the case, that could help. Edit: The other thing that occurs to me, is that your factory cluster is on the wrong side - perhaps series 2 are the other way around like GTR? Edit #2: Found a picture of the nismo GTR cluster - it is the other way around as I suspected - but it also clearly says GTR on it - so you would know it was GTR if it were not for GTT .. hmmm ..
-
I like the small CF sticky accents I've put on my R34. I don't think it's been overdone - just subtle (b-pillars & bottom of rear bar) Mind you, I did this nearly 2 years ago now. Seems to be becoming more common of late, and 'too much'
-
Don't pull the fuse. I did this when my HICAS steering sensor was out of whack - and when I finally got that fixed, the HICAS rack had excessive play in it meaning I had to replace the HICAS rack - I assume because of the fuse was pulled, and it was free to move around on it's own. It made the car very unpredictable in the rear, especially under heavy acceleration - and also made cornering much less predictable - I really wouldn't recommend it.
-
Personally - I'm happy to wait - I want black lines and fittings.
-
Love to know what you guys are doing different. I keep getting told to use a kart or something... .. Think I'll stick with FAST

Seems to be Russian - and require payment to get anything?
