haha gambling? its your spigot bearing.. thrust/throw out/release bearing.. what ever you wanna call it only engages when ur foot is on the clutch Next time u do a clutch or have ur gear box out replace it its not expensive to buy... more of a pain in the arse to replace if u dont have the right tools haha He said foot not on the clutch (not pressed in) - and that noise isn't the throw-out bearing - it's the input shaft bearing. Much more painful, and very common. And if you have a grumbling/whining noise in all gears except for 4th then that's your cluster shaft bearing - another common one to go.

Given I ended up in hospital earlier in the week after calling that nurse hotline for advice, and they rang 000 and got me to hospital - I agree. They were worried I had a ruptured spleen from the hematoma I sustained during the accident. Thankfully, they're now reasonably confident they've ruled that out (though the large amount of swelling (hematoma) on my left abdomen from the seatbelt is nasty to see). On the plus side, out of that I got given stronger pain meds, and told to keep taking them, so I'm happy about that!

Haha .. he said breast... and bounce ... haha .. *runs and hides* (Can you tell im high on painkillers?)

.. you're joking right? It's out now.

I was at the start of a 25kph road-work zone, trafic stopped at the lights in front of me. I slowed to a stop. I look back in my rear-view, and a car is quite a ways back but still doing the speed limit (60kph) .. I watch him pass what I perceived as the braking point - and kept going, I knew he was going to hit me, hard. Right before he hit, I heard a squeal of brakes and slam. Based on what the assessor has said, it's repairable. A good thing, since I only just fitted the 18" LMGT4s 2 weeks ago.. Now to get it off to the right repairer to take care of it.

R32 Gts-T Power Steer Problem
jrm replied to Deeboflange's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
This means your steering angle sensor (used by hicas) behind the steering wheel is mis-aligned with the wheels. -

What did the price end up being? -
Completely off-topic, but:

Hrm; I find out on Monday if my car is a write-off or not ... Guess I might as well go through with this anyway..

The Senna movie is awesome; If you can organise to see it, I highly recommend it.

Yeah, I've been sore as hell all last night - barely slept - and this morning before my shower (as I just posted in Wasteland) I realised I now appear to have a weird lump on my abdomen where the seatbelt sat. It was a pretty huge hit, my neck is sore, my back is sore, my hip is sore, I'll be seeing more doctors today, I think. The R34 seat didn't recline properly after the accident either, though with my size I'm probably not surprised it was damaged. I have no real confirmation on the other drives insurance beyond what he claimed - he said third party. Either way, he seemed fine about it. His face and clothes were covered in blood from the blood nose he had when he hit the steering wheel, but he was lucid. Either way, when I got home I put in a claim with Shannons immediately and they waived the excess immediately. Crash repairer I took the car too deemed it would almost certainly be a write-off, or they'd essentially have to cut and shut the entire rear-end to fix it, which he didn't believe Regency would allow anymore (even if it was economically viable). After pulling into the driveway to the TAFE, I immediately called my employer to let them know and then called 131-444. They dispatched a police car, and ambo to the scene to check everyone out. The police officer took down all our details for the accident report, gave us both a little card for details, and then did a breath-test - we both measured 0.00BAC. The officer then organised a tow-truck to the scene for my car. The other owner opted to make his own arrangements for moving the vehicle (it was gone an hour later when I went past). Had a good chat with the officer about imports & skylines whilst we waited. Interesting to hear their views on hoons, enthusiasts, car clubs, etc.

Don't think I'd manage an R34GTR for the agreed value, and I don't think I'd want an R32 or G33 GTR (no offense to those who have them). As for parts, yeah - the nismo lmgt4 rims, my stereo gear/carpc, GTR MFD, shift-i shift light, cooling plate, are the main things I want to rip. Just put RDA brake rotors on too, can't really pull those out though...

There's currently road works on the corner of Regency Rd & South Rd. I was travelling East on Regency Rd in the middle lane - I could see as I passed Days Road that the speed limit had dropped to 25kph and I was slowing down - and then the traffic in front of me was stopped - so I stopped too. I look back in my rear view mirror, and see a mid 90's silver Mitsubishi Lancer travelling at what must have been at least 60kph, he wasn't slowing down and didn't seem to see me. I hit my horn, and I saw him lock his brakes up - but there was no chance for him to stop. Thankfully I'd left a decent big gap between me and the ute in front of me, and I was pushed forward pretty hard, but yeah, didn't hit him. I'm still pretty shaken up. I didn't think I was injured at the time, but by 2pm, I'd realised my side was hurting, my back was aching, my neck didn't turn right and my wrist is sore - so I've made an appointment with my GP at 4:50pm. I also have an appointment at a solicitor who deals with car accident personal injury tomorrow morning at 10am. This wasn't the way my day was supposed to go... Thankfully I have an agreed value with Shannons, I just hope it's going to cover enough to get me another car. I honestly can't see it's repairable - the roof line is bent, the rear doors don't shut properly.

This pretty much sums it up..
-
.. Spotted me about 12:45pm being stopped on Regency Rd from traffic roadworks, and rear-ended and my car probably written off. Still real shaken up ..

Nice work, Chris You always seem to do fantastic work. There was another thread I saw before on a similar setup and I thought 'I could comment - but I'll leave it to Chris' - you tend to have the right advice

I took the second option with mine originally - but I've been doing stereos for over 10 years. R34->ISO plug, chopped the ISO off, solder and heatshink onto the headunit loom. No cutting of factory wiring, and no dramas. Since then and moving to a carpc setup, I've modified it so that the speakers go off into their own plug, and that plug hooks to the speaker output wires back in the custom amp shelf in the boot... I like things being nice and tidy. Ideally for better signal I would run my own speaker wiring, but eh .. lazy.
-
Or just go down to autobarn/repco - get an R34 -> ISO plug, and then get the appropriate ISO plug for your headunit and not worry about soldering at all. (If you're really bored, you could just take the R34->ISO plug and at least use that to adapt to the headunit wiring, so you're not cutting factory wiring) With regards to using custom made panels or foam - do it properly. Get the right air conditioner panel, the right nissan-provided panels. They're really not that expensive, and you get a proper finish. You have a Nissan Skyline R34 not a $500 sigma wagon with 450,000km on it.

Never quite understood anyone who would tune on S_HP when it's a calculated 'guess' as to the clutch power - rather than a 'real' figure at the wheels .. I guess it makes the owner happy, but beyond that?

Headunit lights are generally supposed to dim when you turn your headlights on. When you install a headunit you typically hook up it's "illumination" wire - this is what signals the headunit you have turned your headlights on - so that it can dim. You could disconnect the illumination wire if you do not like it - or there may be settings in the headunit to ignore it. With regards your odometer light - this should be on, headlights on or not. Probably means the bulb has blown. Pull the cluster out, pull the globe out and take it down to repco, autobarn or something and get a matching bulb.

PI .. still have 21 months left on my subscription - been a subscriber for years. Love going back and reading the early issues. Really gives you perspective on how the scene has changed and grown. Introduction of SEVS, etc. .. Zoom, on the other hand, seems to have steadily fallen down in the last year to the point where I'm pondering asking if I can move my remaining subscription with it to another magazine..
