18 Or 19" Wheels + Opinion On These Rims
jrm replied to LiamR34's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
... 245/35/19 would be an illegal tyre size with 20mm increase in overall diameter - 3.1% speedo inaccuracy. The correct size here would nede to be 245/30/19 or 225-235/35/19. Worse, 275/35/19 is crazily stupidly illegal with a 40.8mm increase in overall diameter, causing a 6.4% speedo inaccuracy - which would very likely have contributed to the cause of rubbing. A more appropriate size would have been a 255/30R19 for keeping legal. I honestly don't understand how a tyre shop would even allow these illegal fitments. Given the size/cost of tyres, and the compromise in how it's going to feel on rough Australian roads - 19" sounds like a crazy idea to me. -
The Fridays I've been there, it seems like 6:30->7pm, with people still turning up as late as 8pm ..

My R34 hit 182.7kw at 8psi untuned .. should be interesting to dyno again with a 10psi actuator fitted ..

Hey! .. Yesterday was thursday, today is FRIDAY FRIDAY (tomorrow is saturday and sunday comes afterwards!) ..

So what modifications have you done to the car?

Tesla Roadster - The Sunday Times .. written by Clarkson back in 2009 puts an interesting spin on things ... -
Please tell me this isn't a road registered vehicle .. a) Isn't it illegal to fit an engine that's older than the vehicle/chassis? b) I would think it would also be illegal (at least without extensive engineering - and would they even do it?) to make the vehicle safety systems like airbags fail to work .. Doing a quick search you could try: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/180504-anyone-know-how-to-turn-off-the-airbag-light-when-changing-the-steeringwheel/ .. but I really hope this isn't a road-registered car for everyone's sake.

It wouldn't be that hard if his car had provision for a DIN headunit. In another of his threads, it's established that he has the model with the different climate control unit, and the pop-up screen option - which means he's going to need to source the appropriate parts to convert it to a regular double-din slot & the regular climate control unit before doing anything: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/357549-r34-head-unit/page__view__findpost__p__5715247 All of this means that he's unlikely to get what he wants for $1000 or less - especially if he needs someone else to do all the work.

Try: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nismo-5-Five-Speed-Shift-Pattern-Badge-240SX-300ZX-JDM-/290465943933?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a11e917d or http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISMO-ALUMINUM-SHIFT-PATTERN-EMBLEM-NISSAN-5-6-SPEED-/120702515073?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c1a6e3781 You probably won't find them on eBay Australia - but certainly found a heap (those two at the top) on eBay international. They're only worth a couple of dollars including postage too.

Here - read these: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/69998-please-read-how-to-turbo-na-skyline-updated/ http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/33407-how-to-turbo-your-na/ http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/348312-neo-rb25de-to-det-swap/ Quick answer - this comes up all the time, usually on school holidays - the NA section is full of information. The summary out of it is always not to bother to turbo an N/A unless you're a mechanic and can do it all yourself (and you've said you're not), it's not worth the time or money. N/A also have a decent resale (at least in most Australian states) because of the P-plater laws.

Certainly what lots of people do. You can pick up Nismo H-pattern stickers on ebay pretty cheap.

Seems odd to want a factory wheel then - only reason you'd want it is if you need the airbag. Otherwise, as long as it's ADR compliant - it's fine through RWC is my understanding. Has the OP talked to whoever's doing the RWC to check this?
-
Don't all R33 legally have to be fitted with an airbag?

Because the ADR changed in 2006 - and ADRs aren't retrospective. So vehicles produced before 2006 happily comply with the old ADR and the new ADR does not apply to them. The old pre-2006 ADR stated (loosely) +-10% accuracy at speeds above 40kph (I beleive), the new ADR changes that. However, how many cars are on the road that were build pre-2006? The new rules essentially disallow under-reading, and permit over-reading by up to 4kmh + 10% (there's a formula involved, I believe someone has already posted this). The other thing to consider is all the other factors that will impact speedometer readings - + tyre wear + tyre pressure + vehicle load And that ignores more human factors like many speedos only displaying increments of 5kph, or particularly sized/shaped speedometer needles. Unfortunately, the politicians really don't give a damn - it's all about revenue raising, not facts or 'real world'.

You need to be able to clean your windscreen - if you go for a roadworthy check or to clear defect, they will check this: ADR 16 - Windscreen Wipers and Washers The function of this Australian Design Rule is to specify requirements for windscreen wipers and washers to ensure reasonable visibility through the windscreen in inclement weather. This falls under the same law as you cant have anything hanging from your rear-view because of the position - whether it's fluffy dice or an air freshener - once again, a national rule. This rule would also include things like improperly positioned GPS devices that obstruct vision, and even windscreen damage (cracks/stone chips) within the 'critical/primary/secondary vision' area (each has differ rules). I believe this is covered under ADR 8. As someone has already mentioned - no tyre shop would let you do this as you need consistent handling & braking on both sides of the car. This is about protecting you and other motorists. Would imagine there would be a ruling in ADR 24 for this. If your headlights were not designed for xenon globes, then you will be sending out glaring light. If they were designed for xenon globes, but don't have the necessary auto-levellers and washer, then they're also illegal (think various skyline models with factory xenons which have to get converted because of this rule). This is all in an effort to stop glare to oncoming drivers and make things safer for everyone. This one is covered under ADR 13 'Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles' Summary: The requirements of paragraph 5.5.2. shall not apply to dipped-beam headlamps. Dipped-beam headlamps shall not swivel according to the angle of lock of steering. Dipped-beam headlamps with gas-discharge light sources shall only be permitted in conjunction with the installation of headlamp cleaning device(s) according to Regulation No. 45.

jrm replied to skyline_r33_gts's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yes and no - a gts4 motor is going to be setup for 4wd .. which - as i understand it - would require more work to put in .. -
Damn! .. people ignored the alarm - and he got through the immobiliser? .. That sucks. Hope you get it back in one piece .. nobody deserves to have their car stolen. Hopefully your insurance will make it so it doesn't hurt too bad, either way.

We need to start a 2011 thread anyway - this one started back in 2008 ..
